FBI reopens Clinton investigation after more emails found

Wash Examiner:

The FBI has told lawmakers that it has found more emails from Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said in a tweet that he believes that means the case is being “reopened.” That was confirmed in FBI Director James Comey’s letter to lawmakers.

Comey noted that while he said the investigation was completed, “I am writing to supplement my previous testimony.”

“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation,” he wrote to lawmakers.

“I am writing to inform you that the investigative team briefed me on this yesterday, and I agreed that the FBI should take appropriate investigative steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.”

The email scandal has dogged Clinton’s campaign for more than a year, and has been a continuous problem for her as she tries to woo voters. Polls have shown that Clinton has a trust problem with voters, and the email problem is a major reason why.

Clinton said for months that she never sent or received classified emails from her server, but the FBI said dozens of classified emails were sent on her system.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said the FBI’s move shows that Clinton and her team “committed wrongdoing and jeopardized national security.”

McCabe’s wife must need a cash infusion

Maybe those who practice criminal activities will finally be convicted of a felony!

@Randy:

Guilty as sin….

Comey will upgrade the emails to classified so Congress can’t see them, amend his report to include them, re-close the report without changing his recommendation and then announce he’s leaving the FBI to become Director of the Clinton Foundation

@DrJohn:

Maybe he hears the footsteps of a different admin in the future and is doing a cover yo ass….

According to the NYTimes Anthony Weiner’s devices had thousands of Hillary’s emails on them.

Huma must have given him the passwords.
I wonder how good Huma is at dodging ashtrays?

Robby Mook (Hillary’s campaign manager) deleted his entire Twitter history just as this story broke.
No idea why.
Never read it.

People demanding paper ballots, knowing wikileaks is perfectly accurate as they destroyed a box plus of emails ah err “lost” after destroying the laptop they were obtained from. Its all coming apart at the seams for them, yet none of Hillarys emails have been dumped …yet, Just her underlings so far…
Huma Huma Huma, you were suppose to destroy those electronic devices.

lol #Leakyweiner is trending if twitter allows.

80 some-odd thousand emails address usually to multiple people is pretty difficult to bury completely. Though all the King’s jackals and all the King’s henchmen are trying to put Hillary-Dumpty back together, in light of Hillary’s complete disregard for security at all levels (but for her own personal secrecy), all Hillary is trying to do is get good and elected before the truth comes out.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, said in a tweet that he believes that means the case is being “reopened.” That was confirmed in FBI Director James Comey’s letter to lawmakers.

No, the FBI has not “reopened” the case. The FBI did not say they had reopened the case. The FBI said they had found additional emails that could be pertinent which they will examine. They formally notified the heads of the Congressional investigative committee of that discovery with a letter, because it had previously been stated that they were aware of no additional emails to be reviewed. The FBI letter clearly states that they don’t even know that the new emails are of any significance.

It was Chaffetz who stated in a Twitter post that the case had been reopened. This is a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts. Every pro-Trump media outlet in the country then repeated the claim that the investigation has been reopened, which of course was Chaffetz’s intention. He created a politically useful media event.

@Greg: It will take a little time there were 10s of thousands of emails found, how did all that government property fall into the hands of a pervert? So very careless bordering on reckless of Huma to allow that to happen. I hope she can dodge ashtrays and lamps.

@kitt, #10:

Who said “tens of thousands?”

The right doesn’t want facts. What the right wants is an area of uncertainty that they can fill with any sort of steaming manure they wish, and they want that uncertainty to continue up through the day of the election.

RT, Putin’s international propaganda outlet, picked up on the “reopened” investigation meme 8 hours ago. They seem to have had the story around the same time Chaffetz made his Twitter post, also 8 hours ago.

@Greg:

The right doesn’t want facts.

Ha. If Hillary and Obama had not stonewalled this scandal from the time of its revelation, they would not be facing exposure on the eve of the election. They have only their own corruption to blame.

@Greg: If the device origially was Humas it would make sense her top aide would be CCed on most everything, you know 30 K yoga, wedding flowers, funeral ect….

@Greg:

Spin, spin, spin, Greg.

The NYT is reporting that the FBI stated “tens of thousands of emails” that appear “pertinent” to their investigation of Clinton are being looked at.

To anyone not a leftist Hillary hack, that means rhe FBI has re-opened the Clinton investigation.

@kitt: #LeakyWeiner IS trending on Gab.

In recent days Ann Coulter joined, Milo Y, too.
Scott Adams, also.

The First fEMAIL President? We could be headed for a constitutional crisis, involving the possible indictment of a president-elect before an election.

Hillary and Huma with Pepe the Frog.

@Nanny G: gab has been fun I love how people who aren’t on it know all about it.

Obama is secretly canceling appearances with Hillary on the campaign trail.
Tim Kaine is also canceling campaign stops.
Somehow MataHuma managed to share every Hillary email (yes Hillary copied Huma to every one) by putting them all on her Yahoo email account!
Is she a brilliant spy?
Or just a stupid woman?

@kitt: Now, when the FBI finds that many people who had no clearances were copied or have copies of the classified emails, then I thinks heads will start to roll and rats will leave the sinking ship. With the number of people connected to terrorist organizations working in the Obama administration, the charges could be quite interesting. It may be time for Hillary to claim her illness requires her to drop out of the race.

@Pete, #14:

Spin, spin, spin, Greg.

The NYT is reporting that the FBI stated “tens of thousands of emails” that appear “pertinent” to their investigation of Clinton are being looked at.

No, they did not say that. This is what they reported, verbatum:

A senior law enforcement official said that tens of thousands of emails belonging to Ms. Abedin were on Mr. Weiner’s laptop, which the F.B.I. had obtained as part of its investigation into Mr. Weiner.

That’s not the count of emails pertinent to the Clinton email issue. No count of those was given by the FBI, and the FBI letter clearly stated that the emails in question may not even be significant. “Tens of thousands” refers to emails belonging to Abedin, exactly as it says. The spin is being applied on Twitchy.

@Greg: Well, Greg, the FBI did not reopen this because Huma had Huma’s emails on Huma’s husband’s device. That is not logical.

@Greg

FBI Found “Tens Of Thousands Of Emails” Belonging To Huma Abedin On Weiner’s Laptop
ZeroHedge ^ | October 29, 2016

With furious Democrats – and the Clinton Campaign – now openly blasting the FBI’s reopened investigation (as Republicans take delight for once in having a government agency reinforce their side of events), the question turns to just what emails were found on Weiner’s laptop, and how damaging their contents are for the FBI to take the unprecedented step of “intervening” in a major political event just days before the national election.

We first laid what was the most likely explanation yesterday, when we showed several examples of Huma Abedin emails being sent from her work email account to her personal account at humaabedin@yahoo.com, courtesy of a Judicial Watch FOIA release. Of the more than 160 emails in the latest Judicial Watch release, some 110 emails – two-thirds of the total – were forwarded by Abedin to two personal addresses she controlled. The Washington Times reported in August 2015 that the State Department had admitted to a federal judge that Abedin and Mills used personal email accounts to conduct government business in addition to Clinton’s private clintonemail.com to transact State Department business.

One email from May 15, 2009, was sent by Abedin from her State Department email to her personal email. Abedin was archiving in her personal email account an email Hillary Clinton sent her from Clinton’s private email server at HDR22@clintonemail.com. Abedin was asked to print out attachments to an email Mills sent via a private address the previous day to Clinton involving “timetables and deliverables” for her review via Alec Ross, a technology policy expert who then held the title of senior adviser for innovation to Secretary Clinton.

However, while forwarding Hillary’s emails to her personal email server for “convenience” is one thing, what is more troubling is the amount of redaction involved in these emails which migrated to the open email account, which as we now know ended up in Anthony Weiner’s computer: in the above example, the two pages of timetables and deliverables attached to the email were 100 percent redacted, with “PAGE DENIED” stamped across the first redacted page.

An argument can be made that the extensive redaction confirms confidential material was part of the transmission.

This is a nuanced point being pushed by Hillary Clinton supporters such as Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald, who in an article yesterday tried to make a case citing “sources” (even though the FBI said that nobody has seen the content of the Weiner/Abedin emails), that “no emails being examined by FBI were to or from Clinton.”

No emails being examined by FBI were to or from Clinton. All of this has to do with procedures followed by an
aide. https://t.co/mcsBi7j7XU
— Kurt Eichenwald (@kurteichenwald) October 29, 2016
It remains to be seen just what is in the emails, although whether Hillary sent emails with confidential content herself, or directed, or simply allowed her closest aide, Huma Abedin to forward such emails to her outside unsecured email address (where they subsequently ended up on Anthony Weiner’s notebook), is what this latest case will be all about and how it will be defended and prosecuted in the media, by the water coolers and perhaps, in court.

However, we do know one thing: according to the NYT, the number of Huma emails that made their way to Weiner’s PC was staggering:

The F.B.I. is investigating illicit text messages that Mr. Weiner, a former Democratic congressman from New York, sent to a 15-year-old girl in North Carolina. The bureau told Congress on Friday that it had uncovered new emails related to the Clinton case – one federal official said they numbered in the tens of thousand
Which brings up two more critical questions: i) when she was questioned by the FBI over the summer, did Huma reveal and admit the existence of these “thousands” of emails located on a personal, home computer, and ii) will the FBI be able to comb through everything in the next 10 days ahead of the election? If the answer to the second question is no, will the US presidential election really take place with one candidate currently under FBI investigation, one which could potentially lead to impeachment proceedings within weeks or days of her being elected president?

Still, the biggest irony in this latest debacle is that it was largely predicted by Donald Trump himself back in August of 2015.

It came out that Huma Abedin knows all about Hillary’s private illegal emails. Huma’s PR husband, Anthony
Weiner, will tell the world.

@Randy: Sorry Randy her desire for power and money will overwhelm any other thought, she will never cede. her followers are very angry at those that reopened this investigation, How dare they! But this whole thing reminds me of a General who was found guilty, through a back door investigation. Well this has a sex element so Megan Kelly may cover it.

The Justice Department and the FBI are in discussions with lawyers for Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin to secure approval that would allow the FBI to conduct a full search of her newly discovered emails, sources familiar with the discussions told CNN.

Hillary didn’t cancel EVERY appearance though.
She was seen going into a BAR this AM!
Screen grabs from Fox News.
