Schumer Will Vote ‘No’ On Judicial Nominee Because He Is White

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer attacked one of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees on Wednesday because the nominee is not a racial minority.

The Democrat from New York said on the Senate floor that he could not vote to approve Marvin Quattlebaum for a vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina because he is a white man replacing two black Obama nominees.

“The nomination of Marvin Quattlebaum speaks to the overall lack of diversity in President Trump’s selections for the federal judiciary,” Schumer complained. “Quattlebaum replaces not one, but two scuttled Obama nominees who were African American.”

“As of February 14th, 83 percent of the President Trump’s confirmed nominees were male, 92 percent were white. That represents the lowest share of non-white candidates in three decades,” he continued. “It’s long past time that the judiciary starts looking a lot more like the America it represents. Having a diversity of views and experiences on the federal bench is necessary for the equal administration of justice.”

“I’ll be voting no on the Quattlebaum nomination,” Schumer concluded.

Well… that’s racism.

“Having a diversity of views and experiences on the federal bench is necessary for the equal administration of justice.”
Wrong. What diversity in “The Constitution is the final word” can be acceptable or “necessary”?
I’ve had enough of the self-described “Wise Latina” argument.

You just can’t be racist against a white man, that guy could be better qualified more experienced have excellent work history put up a female or another “protected” minority guess who gets bumped, even if they have to lower the minimum standards, sorry guys see what happens when you try to make up for something you have never done, liked owned a slave, gots to have them numbers.

chucky, immigrant and slave hoarder did not mansion that none were Jewish.

No, that’s a position he has taken because he believes the composition of the judiciary should more closely correspond with the diverse composition of the population of the nation that they serve. He has stated that very clearly. It’s not a complaint, it’s a philosophical position, and one that those who elected him took into account when they decided to vote for him. Perhaps you should try listening to what he says.

A calculated response to institutional racism is not itself racism. Asserting that it is so is an effort to deceive. All qualifications being equal, we attempt to fill positions with candidates from underrepresented demographic segments.

@Greg: Qualifications do not matter, only race. Ooh, That is racism!

@Randy, #6:

Did you miss the All qualifications being equal part of that sentence?

Selective seeing and hearing seems to be a very common problem on the right. It’s an officially approved and encouraged condition.

Sorry, but no, that is incorrect. He is voting no because of skin color. In the first place, Schumer would not know qualification if it stepped up and knocked those stupid glasses off his nose. And the judiciary is almost the same percentage of black as is the general population.

No, Schumer is just doing what liberals do best; exploit racist biases in a weak attempt to profit from the divisiveness.
