Peter Doocy leaves new WH press secretary stumped with single question he is forced to ask three times

by Chris Enloe

Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy left White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stumbling on her first official day behind the lectern after Jen Psaki’s departure.

The topic? Inflation and President Joe Biden’s claim that raising corporate taxes will help the ongoing economic crisis.

What happened?

Referring to a tweet that Biden published last week, Doocy lobbed a softball question at Jean-Pierre, “How does raising taxes on corporations reduce inflation?”

But the new press secretary appeared unaware that such a tweet from Biden existed, asking if Doocy was, in fact, referring to a specific tweet.

When Doocy informed her that Biden’s official Twitter account made such a connection between corporate taxes and inflation last week, Jean-Pierre stumbled her way through recycling Democratic talking points about taxes and corporations paying their “fair share.”

Look, you know, we have talked about — we have talked about this this past year, about making sure that the wealthiest among us are paying their fair share. And that is important to do. And that is something that, you know, the president has been, you know, working on every day when we talk about inflation and lowering costs. And so it’s very important that, you know, as we’re seeing costs rise, as we’re talking about how to, you know — you know, build an America that is safe, that’s equal for everyone, and doesn’t leave anyone behind, that is an important part of that as well.

Because Jean-Pierre did not answer the question, Doocy then asked again, “But how does raising taxes on corporations lower the cost of gas, the cost of a used car, the cost of food for everyday Americans?”

This time Jean-Pierre invoked climate change and collective bargaining rights while injecting several mentions of a “fairer tax code,” but she still did not answer the question.

“Look, it is — you know, by not — if — without having a fairer tax code, which is what I’m talking about, then all — every — like manufacturing workers, cops — you know, it’s not fair for them to have to pay higher taxes than the folks that — who are — who are — who are not paying taxes at all or barely have,” Jean-Pierre added.

Doocy then asked his question a third time and included criticism from Jeff Bezos. But Jean-Pierre, again, refused to answer the question and instead attacked Bezos and regurgitated debunked talking points about deficit reduction.

“It’s not a huge mystery why one of the wealthiest individuals on Earth — right? — opposes an economic agenda that is for the middle class, that cuts some of the biggest costs families face, fights inflation for the long haul — right? — and that’s what we’re talking about; that’s why we’re talking about lowering inflation here — and adds to the historic deficit reduction the president is achieving by asking the richest taxpayers and corporations to pay their fair share. That is what we’re talking about,” she said.

Anything else?

Larry Summers, who has been highly critical of the Biden administration amid the inflation crisis, explained Monday that he actually agrees with Biden that hiking corporate taxes would positively impact inflation.

Press Sec:

build an America that is safe, that’s equal for everyone

What is this, commie USSR?
It has never been “equal for everyone.”
Elvis Costello pointed this out in, Every Day I Write The Book.
Lyric includes:

Even in a perfect world where everyone was equal,

I’d still own the film rights and be working on the sequel.

She doesn’t know taxes are only paid on INCOME, not WEALTH.
The “rich” might pay on the interest on their investments, on the dividends on their stocks, on their paycheck IF they have a job.
But that does nothing to lower the price at the pump, at the market, at eateries.
Cutting gov’t spending might help.

She doesn’t know taxes are only paid on INCOME, not WEALTH.

Ha. Just wait.

She’s a stupid ass for not being ready for such an obvious question and idiot Biden is a stupid ass for not realizing that raising taxes on corporations only increases costs, as the increased taxes get passed along to the consumer. He should ask her if idiot Biden and Dr. Jill are going to pay THEIR taxes.

People and corporations paying their fair share in no way will impact inflation

Inflation is a hidden tax on the wealth of traditional savers.

People and corporations paying their fair share in no way will impact inflation

Over 79% of registered voters believe the country is on the wrong track.

A New Record: Joe Biden Delivers Nasty Speech Blaming Republicans After Leftist Shoots Up Buffalo Store — ONLY 821 People Tune In — But 81 Million Votes!

So, doing the RAAAAYCISS maff, I conclude 21% are brain dead.

It is more than obvious now, biden is a total failure

Inflation is the tax that common people pay when inadequate taxes on the richest result in enormous deficits.

Elections have consequences
Stolen elections have catastrophic consequences

Corporate taxes are passed on to the consumer, so corporate tax IS inflation.

Corporate taxes are passed on to the consumer, so corporate tax IS inflation.

Then why has inflation surged after the GOP’s HUGE corporate and high-end tax cuts?

Last edited 1 year ago by Greg

Doh. Biden policies and more spending equal inflation. Btw Trump raised taxes by capping the SALT deductions at 10k. Rich Democrats hated it. Didn’t want to pay their fair share.

Right track wrong track is a sign now that the illegitimate regime of biden is over.

Actually greggie, inflation did not happen to any more than normal extent until first, the gas and oil exploration and pumping as well as the pipe lines were terminated by Biden.

Big clue for you in this video.

Then why has inflation surged after the GOP’s HUGE corporate and high-end tax cuts?

Um… you kind of SKIPPED about 4 years and neglected to acknowledge that the inflation only happened when idiot Biden took office, strangled domestic energy production, printed up about $5 trillion and dumped it into the economy. The tax cuts boosted the economy and tax revenues. Idiot Biden strangles the economy. Democrats have no idea how to run an economy; just printing money and wasting it is not the winning formula.

You failed to understand. Tax relief for corporations were deflationary, but biden managed to create inflation regardless.

Bingo!!

INflation in this case is when the current administration has no idea what they are doing!

Ohh,they Know what they are doing.. It’s NOT an accident.
Read Agenda 21
Know what the
Georgia Guidestones say.
Connect the dots.

The gov’t doesn’t HAVE to spend like drunken sailors with money printed out of the air.
Inflation could be cut down if the gov’t went on a spending freeze.
Take ALL the wealth of the entire top 1% of earners and it still wouldn’t lower inflation.

Please, I hope that was sarcasm

There’s a fantasy world for you. You know, first, to own Doocy, the press secretaries would have to actually provide an answer to a question.

I understand you feel that way. Outside the MAGA bubble, however, Doocy was widely seen as Psaki’s punching bag.

Maybe you have an example of her responding to a question with a factual answer that shut Doocy… or anyone… down.

Mostly, ANYONE that asked a substantive question exposed Psaki’s weak position of having to defend the indefensible. Little Cupie Doll is even worse.

“Maybe you have an example of her responding to a question with a factual answer that shut Doocy… or anyone… down.”

Well, part of Doocy’s rustic charm was that he kept walking into Psaki’s metaphorical haymakers even when his question had been definitively answered, so nothing will literally make him stop talking. So if you mean an answer from Psaki that got him to stop moving his mouth, then no.

If, on the other hand, you mean an example of her fully answering his questions and followups with facts, then here:

As an aside, let me point out that I specified “outside the MAGA bubble,” and you are absolutely NOT outside the MAGA bubble.

Last edited 1 year ago by Michael

An example of one of those “haymakers”, perhaps? None here, just you expressing you really appreciate and enjoy a good lie. Leases are one thing, permits another. Idiot Biden choked off production and that not only ended our energy independence but started the price jumps and enabled Putin to launch his Ukrainian invasion.

She’s an incompetent liar, but as previously noted, her task of making the worst regime in history appear anywhere near competent was impossible.

In answer to my question, you could have simply replied, “No, I don’t. No one does.”

Last edited 1 year ago by Just Plain Bill

Perhaps you could point out for me the lie that she told in that clip.

That repeated line about 9 thousand permits is supposed to convince people Biden is doing all he can to lower oil prices. Meanwhile the process to go from permit to producing product is a long one that Biden uses the government to put up roadblocks in the path of any oil company that might start the process. Do a little homework maybe you’ll begin to understand that. 9000 sounds like a lot but it’s not. it was much higher under Trump. When we had lower prices and people could afford gasoline. Biden ran on shutting down oil production and to have Psaki suggest they are doing all they can to increase production is a lie. Oil companies know Biden is hostile to them so why spend the money and time to try to produce when this administration will come along and knee cap them. Recall Biden releasing oil from the SPR? It did nothing to curb rising prices. Now we get to refill it at much higher prices. What would Psaki have to say about that? Notice any stories about fertilizer shortages and prices? One of the main components to create fertilizer is natural gas. You should be able to figure out the rest of that story.

We know she lied her ass off and sheep like Mikey cant or wont fact check her.
There is more to than a simple lease, there has to be permitting for the infrastructure.
We are not at the most ever oil produced and a quick search proves it. They are ignorant of how things work.

The new and unimproved spox is a train wreck. When axed about the buffalo shooter, she responded with a 1-800 number.

She is the new black carrot top

If a Democrat tells them a lie with a straight face, they believe it. Not because the lie sounds credible, but because the WANT to be lied to. The lies are far preferred to the truth about their failed and degenerate ideology.

The permits have been approved:

“At the end of 2021, there were 9,173 approved and available permits to drill on federal and Indian lands. Those permits include those issued under Biden and those still active from Trump’s administration and potentially before, said Josh Axelrod, of the National Resources Defense Council. Companies don’t have to immediately begin drilling as their leases last 10 years and can be extended beyond that.”

Perhaps you could point out for me the lie that she told in that clip.

The lie that because the leases were available, oil production should be up to the level it was before idiot Biden strangled it. What’s missing are the permits. Also, the oil has to be transported to a facility for refining. But, no pipeline for YOU. This idiotic regime also expects oil companies to invest billions of dollars into exploration and extraction only to have the rug pulled out from under them when it comes time to recoup the costs. It was all a lie, the typical idiot Biden bullshit dumped from the mouth of a ginger useful idiot.

The permits have been approved:

“At the end of 2021, there were 9,173 approved and available permits to drill on federal and Indian lands. Biden to Import Venezuelan Oil to Meet US Demand – President Trump’s Energy Independence Policies Will Continue to be Ignored

That’s because that was the goal.

Russia and OPEC tried to destroy the US oil industry by cutting prices to make exploration here unprofitable. They failed. Seems idiot Biden is accomplishing what they couldn’t.

Aww common Curt they just put up one of those rigs and it magically goes directly to the pump to put in my car. Eggs are born in cartons at the grocery dairy section, and cows walk to the store and fall apart into foam trays.
But they fart so we need to be rid of the cows.

From your comment earlier:

We know she lied her ass off and sheep like Mikey cant or wont fact check her.

There is more to than a simple lease, there has to be permitting

And there is. I did fact-check her and offered a link to the pertinent facts. You won’t even fact-check yourself, kitt. You’re in no position to complain about others.

Last edited 1 year ago by Michael

Sure, there’s more to the story than just having the permits. But Psaki wasn’t lying, and the commenters here who made a point about how “there are leases, but they don’t have the permits” were simply wrong.

Yes, she was, because she was saying it is the fault of the energy companies that production was not up and costs down. That was, of course, before it was all Putin’s fault.

You are correct that some on the left see her as always getting the best of Doocy. What I observed of that is those of that ilk are enamored by her condescending tone toward Doocy but not the substance of her answers. In other words it’s style over substance.
With that said here’s a little clip that explains Joe’s actions and how they have affected prices.
https://therightscoop.com/watch-ted-cruz-gives-a-master-class-to-reporters-on-why-biden-is-to-blame-for-intentionally-raising-gas-prices/

Leftists think squirming out from under a question without answering it is “winning”. They can’t imagine that anyone can see the evasion.

No he’s not, but the Left just prefers to “make shit up” these days, usually saying the exact opposite of what is actually happening.

Psaki is a national joke, and Biden is global failure. Historical failure. The majority of Americans don’t support this installed regime, and are going to push the small group of far-left extremists out of our country and government if they continue to rig elections, incite violence, and generally compromised our way of life.

Hyperbole for comic effect.

Yup, someday you might “get it”, perhaps when you upgrade to highly functioning imbicle or even moron I havent graded you as low as Greg, an idiot …yet.
Listen to the girl she strings words together no real answer, maybe she can circle back, She isnt as nonsensical as the VP, I will grant her that much.

…Writes the individual who somehow believed that this was intended as a literal score for some nonexistent competition:

Peter Doocy: 1

Fair share is everyone, even the poor, pay a set percentage of their income.

You’re depriving the poor the dignity of being part of society.

Fair share is everyone, even the poor, pay a set percentage of their income.

Not the same percentage, though.

They pay the same percentage with other taxes why not income as well?

A flat tax on income is regressive. Ten percent taken from Bill Gates’s income doesn’t significantly affect his lifestyle. Ten percent taken from the income of an extremely low-wage earner may mean that they can’t eat for part of the month. Or they can’t pay rent.

You can’t escape this problem with some taxes. A gas tax, as an example, can’t readily be individualized, so we’re stuck with everyone paying the same percentage. Income taxes are filed by the citizen every year, so it’s possible to apply a different level of taxation to people who make different incomes.

A flat tax on income is regressive.

But what about equality?

Ten percent taken from Bill Gates’s income doesn’t significantly affect his lifestyle.

Odd comment. Why do you think Bill Gates’s taxes should “significantly affect his lifestyle?” You clearly seem to think that income taxes should be used as punishment for being successful.

Ten percent taken from the income of an extremely low-wage earner may mean that they can’t eat for part of the month. Or they can’t pay rent.

Then maybe they should take the left politician’s advise and learn to code.

If someone makes $100.00 a week and pays 10% in taxes why is that unfair to think that the person who makes $100.00 a hour should also pay 10% in taxes? Take a plumber who earns $65.00 an hour and works 40 hours a week. He will pay less in taxes than the plumber who earns $65.00 an hour and works 60 hours a week because he needs/wants the extra money for whatever personal reason. Why should the plumber who works longer and harder than another be punished by a Marxist progressive tax system?

Logic doesn’t seem to be the forte of you leftists.

“If someone makes $100.00 a week and pays 10% in taxes why is that unfair to think that the person who makes $100.00 a hour should also pay 10% in taxes?”

I never said anything about fairness.

There’s a point below which a person, doing his or her level best to make ends meet, can’t pay X percent taxes and still eat, pay rent, and so forth. I don’t want to see that happen to a person. I find it difficult to believe that you do, despite whatever you say here.

Last edited 1 year ago by Michael

Logic doesn’t seem to be the forte of you leftists.

Only the logic of ideology.

If having compassion for the less fortunate is to be dismissed as mere “ideology,” then guilty as charged, I suppose.

“Exploitation” is not compassion. The leftist ideology is all about exploitation. Compassion is providing the environment where people can lead their lives without crushing government intervention.

How is a progressive tax structure exploitation of the poor?

Leftist economic policies keeps people in poverty and puts more there as well. Trump’s economy created more good paying jobs, which benefitted those in poverty; the left’s idea is to force jobs overseas and provide handouts and subsidies to those that can only find low-paying service jobs for sustenance. Those in poverty then become dependent upon the government and vote for the party that will provide the most (enough to live) subsidies instead of the party that will provide them with the opportunity to escape poverty.

The tax structure is designed to keep those dependent on government from suffering the tax burden of the system the left creates that actually keeps them IN poverty. Their tax structure merely feeds the system that perpetuates it, not promoting the growth necessary to reduce or eliminate poverty.

THAT’S f**king how.

Where does the constitution say the business of the government is charity? If Mikey says he has compassion he would donate part of his earnings to these charities that assisted the poor. Maybe the other 20% the government would not be demanding. See problem solved. He wouldnt care if that charity would be helping them better themselves either. Or he would choose a charity that did help those lift themselves.

Last edited 1 year ago by kitt

Liberals are always VERY compassionate… with YOUR money.

exactly hooked on OPM.

Where does the constitution say the business of the government is charity?

The Constitution is a very brief document. There are a lot of things it doesn’t say, but we generally agree that a lot of things in our society does still fall within its purview.

but we generally agree that a lot of things in our society does still fall within its purview.

No we don’t, and the fact that you’d say such nonsense is why our country is divided into Americans and….whatever you people are.

We have a legal system based on Constitutional Law. You are innocent until proven guilty, not guilty based on public opinion polls or tweets.

We don’t “punt” in the moment like you seem to. That’s literally tyrannical.

The Constitution is a very brief document.

It’s created the strongest, richest, and most charitably democracy in the history of the world. We’re not letting a few stray citizens with bad ideologies replace it.

No we don’t, and the fact that you’d say such nonsense is why our country is divided into Americans and….whatever you people are.

This doesn’t make any sense.

It’s created the strongest, richest, and most charitably democracy in the history of the world.

I’m not arguing that with you.

Very little that is legal and accepted in our society is specifically and explicitly mentioned in the Constitution. The legal structure of society rests on interpretations of the document.

What the Constitution does not specifically address is left to the states. Like abortion, for instance. Yet, something so unambiguous as “shall not be infringed” is debated by the left. The Constitution means nothing to the left; it is only used to control others and totally ignored when it impedes THEIR path to totalitarianism.

You see how compassionate he is when it is suggested he gives what the government doesnt already take, make a choice as to a worthy charity. He might even have t rethink his role in preparing kids for the cold cruel world, having to make sure all of his kids test at 100 percentile.

You see how compassionate he is when it is suggested he gives what the government doesnt already take

I didn’t respond to that comment, but remember that the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

I voluntarily pay more taxes than I absolutely need to. I could pay less by itemizing, but I have H&R Block just take the standard deduction. I’m okay with that. I’m working within a tax system that I generally approve of, and I know that the extra money I’m not claiming as a refund will be used to help the less fortunate, among other things.

Last edited 1 year ago by Michael

You would be better off itemizing if it means more money in your pocket. Then donating to a local charity where you can see it make a difference.

I’m following a compromise position that I have decided upon and am comfortable with.

I was shocked when I moved to Mo. They tax food, taxation of food!
I also think property taxes should be frozen when a couple turns 65. Eliminated at 70.
No I think if they earn 1.00 they can pay a dime no loopholes no deductions or other write offs every pays a dime, thats equity baby. Maybe if they see the same dig they will vote different. The sin tax on marriage should end. All income tax should end, the amendment repealed. A new amendment that congress cant spend more than it takes in as revenue.

We agree, Michael.

There should NOT be income tax whatsoever. Prior to 1903, it was deemed unConstitutional.

Prior to 1903, it was deemed unConstitutional.

Things change.

In 1913, the Sixteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. It states: “The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.”

Source

Incorrect. The same percentage is fair. Changing the percentage is not.

No way to argue that, at all.

I’d wager that most people in our country are uninterested in living in the system you’re describing.

You know with our tax code the very rich have bought themselves a lower tax rate what if they had no code just you made this you pay that. That rule would apply to everyone.

what if they had no code just you made this you pay that. That rule would apply to everyone.

That would still be a tax code.

just you made this you pay that

That’s the way it is now: “If you make very little, you pay a very small percentage—or maybe nothing. If you make more, you pay a higher percentage.” Everyone follows the same tax laws.

Larry is an idiot. Corporations don’t pay taxes, the Consumer pays for the raw matterials, maintenance on the factory, utilities, labor AAND, the taxes. Take money from the corporations and they raise prices.
