Noam Chomsky: Obama’s Inexplicable ‘Attack’ On Civil Liberties ‘Goes Well Beyond Anything’ Imagined

Andrew Kirell @ Mediaite:

In an interview with AlterNet this past week, America’s most well-known left-wing intellectual slammed President Obama for his inexplicable “attacks” on civil liberties in the forms of various laws expanding upon the executive powers set forth by President George W. Bush.

Speaking with the liberal blog’s Mike Stivers, Chomsky expressed dissatisfaction with the current president’s record on civil liberties: “I personally never expected anything of Obama, and wrote about it before the 2008 primaries. I thought it was smoke and mirrors. The one thing that did surprise me is his attack on civil liberties. They go well beyond anything I would have anticipated, and they don’t seem easy to explain.”

For an example of Obama’s civil liberties abuses, Chomsky cited Holder vs. Humanitarian Law Project, in which the administration petitioned the Supreme Court to put an end to legal groups giving any “material assistance” — including advice to turn nonviolent — to terrorist organizations.

“The case in question was a law group that was giving legal advice to groups on the terrorist list, which in itself has no moral or legal justification; it’s an abomination,” Chomsky said. “But if you look at the way it’s been used, it becomes even more abhorrent … And the wording of the colloquy is broad enough that it could very well mean that if, say, you meet with someone in a terrorist group and advise them to turn to nonviolent means, then that’s material assistance to terrorism…. Obama wants to criminalize that, which is a plain attack on freedom of speech. I just don’t understand why he’s doing it.”

It is difficult to take Chomsky seriously. An occasional out-of-context cleverly formed and stated observation, doesn’t an intellectual make. And yet, he’s referred to as an ‘intellectual’ even by those conservatives who disagree with his socialist tendencies. A good example is his reference to Omar Khadr as an example of the abusive use of the justice system and he says, “take a look at his history,” then Chomsky ignores the facts of Kahdr’s history and disregards his actions.

Following training on AK-47s, Soviet PKs and rocket-propelled grenades in a bin Ladin camp, Khadr, 15, worked as a translator for Al Qaeda and conducted surveillance missions, culminating in Khadr throwing a grenade that killed U.S. Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer, during an attack on his village. Khadr’s father was a bin Ladin supporter, and he raised money for Al Qaeda, etc., etc., so where’s the problem? That he was 15 years old?

. . . . still, it’s obvious these liberal socialists have no clue who they elected.

Pentagon Taps Anti-Christian Extremist for Religious Tolerance Policy:

Obama’s consultant to the Pentagon to develop new policies on religious tolerance:

…According to Weinstein, “We should as a nation effusively applaud Lt. Col. Rich.” He adds that the nation should “venture further” than Rich’s recommendations, saying, “We MUST vigorously support the continuing efforts to expose pathologically anti-gay, Islamaphobic, and rabidly intolerant agitators for what they are: die-hard enemies of the United States Constitution. Monsters, one and all. To do anything less would be to roll out a red carpet to those who would usher in a blood-drenched, draconian era of persecutions, nationalistic militarism, and superstitious theocracy.”

Weinstien suggests a new DOD policy for court-martialing military chaplains who share the Christian Gospel during spiritual counseling of American troops.

Many media outlets are silent on this disturbing new alliance between fanatical secularists and leaders in the Pentagon appointed by President Barack Obama and Secretary Chuck Hagel, under which the U.S. military would officially consult with someone with such foaming-at-the-mouth passionate hostility toward traditional Christians, including Evangelicals and devout Catholics. The military—America’s most heroic and noble institution—includes countless people of faith, and this represents a radical departure from the U.S. military’s warm embrace of people of faith in its ranks.

This hind of far-left hatred of Christianity is sounding more and more like it was inspired by the antisemitism of the Nazi party.

WHAT a waste of funds and saliva,
they should go after the real enemies of AMERICA,
so if they do their jobs,
then nobody will expose the ENEMIES ,
the PEOPLE pay them to do their job, and must also do their job
of exposing the wrong in this AMERICA.
those who want to expose the CHRISTIANS are the ENEMIES of AMERICA, you think ANTISEMIST OR NAZI, THINK MUSLIM
