Musk buys Twitter

NEW YORK, April 25 (Reuters) – Elon Musk clinched a deal to buy Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) for $44 billion cash on Monday in a transaction that will shift control of the social media platform populated by millions of users and global leaders to the world’s richest person.

It is a seminal moment for the 16-year-old company that emerged as one of the world’s most influential public squares and now faces a string of challenges.

Discussions over the deal, which last week appeared uncertain, accelerated over the weekend after Musk wooed Twitter shareholders with financing details of his offer.

Under pressure, Twitter started negotiating with Musk to buy the company at the proposed $54.20 per share price. read more

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement.

Shares were up about 6% following the news. The deal represents a near 40% premium to the closing price the day before Musk disclosed he had bought a more than 9% stake. Even so, the offer is below the $70 range where Twitter was trading last year.

And the first things they at Twitter need to learn is the U.S. Constitution and Freedom of Speech

This lil guy brings down the House!

“Waaaaa! Now we have to endure freedom of speech! We don’t like it! Waaaaa!”

A great day for Freedom, and all the great Americans who have come before us. They’d be appalled to see how far we’ve slide into totalitarianism, and how far Euro/Globalist interests have bought their way into our government and pushed democracy aside.

That ends now.

DeSantis saying no to Disney’s gender-Cult. Musk restoring Twitter to the public platform with governmental protections, NOT simply a private company that can allow whatever it wants.

Keep pushing back.

On a sadder note, the Biden/NATO War continues to ravage Ukraine. Perhaps the growing tide pushing back against our corrupted governmental elements can reveal the real reasons for Putin’s invasion, US-backed Biolabs, and illegal operations of the Bidens and other, all at the cost of Ukrainian resources and Ukrainian lives?

Does Freedom of Speech include a guaranteed right to tell lies that can destroy a democracy?

Can explain that? I’m not sure what you mean. Sincerely.

Does Freedom of Speech include the guaranteed right to tell that can destroy democracy?

Read it again. The question seems clear enough to me.

It’s not.

Does Freedom of Speech include the guaranteed right to tell that can destroy democracy?

Do mean “what” instead of “that?”

Clarify. This sentence is broken, as is it’s meaning.

good boy, editing that trainwreck.

Freedom of speech means you can say whatever you want, as long as you don’t threaten or call for violence.

That said, using some simple codes of conduct ensures freedom of speech while preventing the conversation from degrading.

We have actual freedom of speech here on FA.

All porn both real and cartoon should be banned. Death threats, illegal activities of all kinds, also Doxxing banned.
Interesting turn of worm, the Epstein/ Maxwell trial is mentioned in a Durham filingcomment image
Her customers never faced the music, I think they should.

People who lack knowledge of History don’t realize that almost all the original news outlets (pamphleteers) of the Founding Fathers’ era were called “yellow” journalists because they each cleaved to their own slants.
Thing was they didn’t pretend to be objective or open to all, like today’s social media tries to do.

Does Freedom of Speech include a guaranteed right to tell lies that can destroy a democracy?

In fact it does. For instance, you didn’t object to the left lying about Russian collusion and Russian disinformation for 4 years as long as they could direct it towards their political enemies. The problem is, who gets to judge what is a lie and what isn’t? The left, who have perpetrated more lies than all the others put together?

No one stopped the left’s lies being promoted. It was that the lies were public which allowed them to be refuted with facts and truth.

All greg is saying is this: “WE get to say what we want, and you don’t. Just shut up.”

Textbook totalitarianism. It’s like greg never read or even heard of the book 1984.

Orwell’s 1984 is about what happens when “truth” becomes whatever people can be made to believe. Essentially, it’s about the likes of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

Orwell’s 1984 is about what happens when “truth” becomes whatever people can be made to believe

Yup. That’s you. I think you should read it again.

Most Leftists only believe what they do because they are told to, then they are cleverly told it’s TRUMPERS who do that.

Projection, subconscious and intentional.

You people are the monsters you think you are fighting.

There’s almost no lie you tell about Trump that can’t be blown apart in about 60 seconds.

It is fun to watch you and people like you shit yourselves as we finally start to defang you dumb assholes and get the truth out again.

Does Freedom of Speech include a guaranteed right to tell lies that can destroy a democracy?

That’s precisely what the Left, their media, and Democrats have done.

Now you’d dare hide behind that, claiming your opponents are “lying” instead of proving your own assertions?

The heart behind what your saying is black, and it’s opposite of freedom and democracy.

No one….NO ONE can be trusted with deciding what’s “truth” and what’s “disinformation” when they have an agenda.

We debate, we argue, we compromise, we hold our ground, we concede, and we ultimately have democracy.

That basic understanding is what’s been wiped from the country.

P.S. – You claiming your opponent is “lying and needs to be silenced” IS Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler, Putin, Maduro, and every evil dictator who hide behind the cowardice of “he’s lying!” to give them POWER.

This thought-contagion that restoring free speech is allowing disinformation (a challenge to the carefully crafted narrative of our government and their bought media outlets) is absurd. Push back against these kind of petty tyrants. They fold quite easily.

You’re an idiot. There’s my freely expressed opinion.

I’m right, is what I am.

Come back when you have an counter argument.

Does Freedom of Speech include the guaranteed right to tell that can destroy democracy?

This appears to written by an idiot, indeed.

Saying hyperinflation is a good thing, like your hero, Poopy-pants Biden.

That’s doublespeak.

“The Untested Vaccine, that requires us to suppress demonstrated treatments.”

That’s doublespeak.

“Trump investigated his rival Biden (as if Biden was already slated to be installed, which he was)…Biden on camera prior admitting to withholding aid to fire a prosecutor for political favors.”

That’s doublespeak.

The edit:

There’s my freely expressed opinion.

The addition didn’t really help.

Come back when you have an counter argument.

Yes we want your democracy dead and buried no headstone in a potters field.
Long live the Republic of the United States.
It was a DNC echo chamber shadow banning or suspending conservatives. Even posting CDC pages would get you booted.

Either greg knows this, or greg really thinks he’s on the right side of this argument.

Either way, we say hell no and stop these people, regardless of their intention.

The millions who have already volunteers to stop election fraud this year is epic.

I’ll be setting up my Twitter account today.

Seems like millions are.

Free Speech: brought to you by Christianity, and sustained by people of all creeds and religions. It’s brought us prosperity, peace, equality, and every other good thing you know.

This is amazing. These people can’t be this stupid…or vile, can they?

He literally said Musk MIGHT do what Dorcey and Twitter DID do for years.

These people are weak, bitter, and genocidal.

To quote that liberal troll hypocrite, George Takai, “Oh, my!”

Yes.

Freedom of speech vs. tyranny and censorship – Will America and the world follow Elon Musk’s vision of Twitter or Barack Obama’s call for more censorship?

Frank Gaffney released his Secure Freedom Minute this morning. Today’s minute discussed the long-term highway that humanity will travel. Will America and the world follow Barack Obama and censorship of free speech or will it follow free speech as espoused by Elon Musk during his efforts to purchase Twitter? Which way will we go? Will the first amendment die or thrive?
