Martin Luther King Jr.’s Niece Slams Obama for Politicized John Lewis Eulogy

The niece of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had harsh words for former President Barack Obama’s political speech during the eulogy of late Rep. John Lewis of Georgia.

During an interview with Fox News on Friday, Dr. Alveda King accused the left, including Obama, of being willing to “grab at any opportunity” to turn events such as the funeral of Lewis into “a political moment.”

She told “Fox & Friends,” that she should have expected Obama to take the chance to politicize the death of Lewis in order to attack President Donald Trump’s administration and to advocate for leftist positions during the eulogy.

“I’ve chosen not to politicize the death of Congressman Lewis, but to remember him as a peaceful, nonviolent warrior and encourage everyone to resolve our conflicts peacefully,” she said.

King went on to accuse Obama of misremembering history during his political eulogy in Atlanta Thursday by taking “us back to the 1960s.”

The former president compared the recent use of federal troops to quell rioting in Portland, Oregon, and other cities, with the civil rights movement of the 1960s, in which federal troops often dispersed demonstrations that were peaceful.

“Bull Connor may be gone, but today we witness with our own eyes police officers kneeling on the necks of black Americans,” Obama said. “George Wallace may be gone, but we can witness our federal government sending agents to use tear gas and batons against peaceful demonstrators.”

“Today,” King said, “when the National Guard goes in — sent by the president for example — or state troopers, they are trying to protect the people of America in every community. And, to save lives and protect people.”

“There is a totally distinct difference.”

King also attacked Obama for using Lewis’ funeral to advocate for widespread mail-in voting in the November election.

Obama likened opposition to vulnerable mail-in ballots to voter suppression.

“Even as we sit here, there are those in power who are doing their darnedest to discourage people from voting,” Obama said, “by closing polling locations, and targeting minorities and students with restrictive ID laws, and attacking our voting rights with surgical precision, even undermining the Postal Service in the run-up to an election that’s going to be dependent on mail-in ballots so people don’t get sick.”

King took issue with the comments from the former president.

“You know, actually President Trump is saying, ‘People, please pay attention. We do want you to vote. Use your absentee ballots. Go to the polls.’ He has even encouraged, you know, people to be poll watchers and poll workers and that kind of thing,” she said.

Obama politicaled every opertunity he could get just look at his fake tears and using kids as props after all those mass shootings like Sandy Hook

Funerals are important: they acknowledge the sanctity of life and allow friends and family to come together to grieve their loss. This reality doesn’t change based on how famous or revered an individual was to the general public: it doesn’t hurt any less to say goodbye to someone who was just a dad or just someone’s child or just a dear friend. Their lives aren’t any less significant. Yet politicians have decided that celebrity affords them the right to override the onerous restrictions on funerals that so many average Americans have been forced to accept.

tarashing Trump and and weakly positioning pediphile creep joe, and embellishing yourself is not a eulogy.

listen to this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WxwUcfH7OI this is a eulogy.

Obama simply showed how racist and out of touch he is.

He got a chance to push his pus in front of a camera, he told no personal accounts of the man, they all called friend, wouldnt you have something personal and dear to relate if he was your friend?

Alveda King doesn’t represent the views of Martin Luther King’s family. In 1984, Coretta Scott King, her aunt and Dr. King’s widow, declined to endorse her unsuccessful run for a Georgia seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2016 Alveda King supported Trump’s candidacy for the presidency. This past February, Trump pardoned Alveda King’s goddaughter, Angela Stanton-King, who was serving time in prison for a criminal conspiracy conviction in connection with her part in a car-theft ring. Stanton-King then became a Republican candidate for Congress in an to unseat Rep. John Lewis, who was in the final stages of pancreatic cancer.

Obama’s eulogy was no political exploitation. Obama clearly and forcefully expressed Lewis’s own views. Lewis would have endorsed every word Obama spoke, and would have approved of their being said over his flag-draped casket. Everyone present at the services knew that. That likely includes Alveda King.

#5 a complete load of bullshit

@Greg: It doesn’t really matter who or what she represents, she speaks the absolute truth. Obama shit all over a solemn occasion to not only issue a campaign speech for Biden, but to lie without remorse. But he always was a remorseless, lying racist.

lewis is a better man than obama, but not by much. Herman Cain one hundred times the man either of these were or are…

@July 4th American:

Obama was a far better president than Donald Trump could ever be—a fact which drives Trump crazy. I can think of no other reason why he would waste so much time and energy obsessing about his predecessor and doing everything possible to tarnish his reputation. Trump belittles and besmirches anyone who makes him feel smaller or less worthy-seeming than his own grotesquely inflated self image. He does that to the same extent that he praises and brags about himself.

obama sucked as president

@Greg: A funeral is to celebrate a persons life thank the creator for the time you had with that person, it isnt a radical political platform to push lies and propaganda. If that were the dead mans wishes he truly lived an empty life without true friends and loved ones, sad.

@Greg: Obama was the most corrupt President ever. More and more evidence comes forth every day. He was a threat to the very life and security of this country.

@Greg:

Obama was a far better president than Donald Trump could ever be—a fact which drives Trump crazy.

Except for all those pesky facts that say otherwise.

Trump wiped away the false legacy of Obama very quickly.

Obama was truly corrupt, and really just an installed Manchurian Candidate that fed on the poor, the under-educated, and the under-worked in a effort to establish Democrat RULE forever.

When Trump rebuilt the economy, Obama could only repreat the words “You didn’t build that,” followed by “I did.”

Obama was the worst amateur poser President ever, and that’s a fact. He was propped up by everyone.

Trump is embattled by both parties, and still getting it done. Very clear National response to the coronavirus, holding the economy together quite nicely (HRC wouldn’t have), and on the road to winning a landslide victory in November.

If I were a Democrat disinformation agent like you, greg, I’d lie too. Trump is really going to clean house in his next four years, eviscerating you scumbag Leftists so you can never try to commit a coup again.

@Greg:

This past February, Trump pardoned Alveda King’s goddaughter, Angela Stanton-King, who was serving time in prison for a criminal conspiracy conviction in connection with her part in a car-theft ring.

Had Obama done that, you would have sang his praises to the mountain top and declared he was serving social justice well.

I guess you feel qualified to speak for a dead man since you and John Lewis were clearly BFFs.

Obama made John Lewis’s funeral the same disgraceful event that was Wellstone’s funeral. But of course, Obama was trained by David Axelrod and was a devoted student of Saul Alinsky. Axelrod once said that when he met Obama, Obama was a terrible speaker so he gave Obama recordings of the sermons of black preachers and had him learn the cadence and manner of speech then putting Obama in front of a mirror to practice that style for hours.

Obama is to America what kudzu is to an unattended forest.

@kitt:

What Obama spoke of was what John Lewis’s entire life was about.

@Greg: No he didn’t. He lied. Obama is a liar and when he can’t see enough racism to suit him, he will lie to get that amount up to where he likes it.

@July 4th American, #6:

#5 a complete load of bullshit

Anyone who believes I’ve misstated the facts should check for themselves.

@Greg: Um… we already have.

@Greg: Wrong again commie breath, else he woudnt be a democrat like Wallace and Durham and Byrd.
Calling the filibuster Jim Crow? seriously Barry was pretty racist when he was a senator

Barack Obama’s Ugly Filibuster Hypocrisy

His joining the filibuster of Justice Samuel Alito
The Dems just keep banging away at the foundations of the Republic they seek to destroy. They have destroyed many once great cities with their failed policies.
Politickin’ over a corpse is indecent, you defend many indecent evil things dude.

Aaron burr established the filibuster in the early 1800’s long before the democrats, angry because they were forced to free their slaves, enacted anti negro laws and policies preventing newly freed slaves from establishing themselves. The democrats are still at it today enacting laws and cultural norms intended to keep the blacks down and subservient to the democrat party.

@Deplorable Me, #18:

Uh huh. And which facts did I have wrong?

Political exploitation is a hallmark for the nations second black president and first homosexual president.

DEVELOPING: Sources say special prosecutor Bash is looking @ Obama admin’s “to/from/about” queries related to NSA’s upstream collections of FISA Sec 702 data going back to 2015 & earlier,which include collections involving US citizens & the use of that raw data by FBI contractors

Is the Senate Filibuster a ‘Jim Crow Relic’ That Should Be Abolished in the Name of Democracy?

@Greg: The part about Obama eulogizing Lewis. Obama lied about Trump being a racist, lied about voter suppression, lied about cutting USPS funds to hurt vote by mail, lied about the filibuster. All Obama does is LIE, and lie with the intent of promoting racism.

@July 4th American:

Based on????????????

@Nathan Blue:

When Trump rebuilt the economy

Such buffoonery. You are simply repeating a Trump propaganda machine lie. The BLS numbers do not support it and in fact, prove otherwise. The economy saw a steady growth for 7 years prior to Trump. Even prior to Trump’s induced virus, manufacturing was retracting and the deficit was exploding. Those are the facts. But, we’ve been through that before.

Obama was the worst amateur poser President ever, and that’s a fact.

Well, by most credible historians (The 2018 Siena poll of 157 presidential scholars, The Presidential Historian Society, American Political Science Association, C-SPAN’s Presidential Survey, etc). Obama rates at 12th to 13th best ever.

Much of his achievement was actually based on his success in lifting the economy above the ashes of his Republican predecessor of which Trump has now lead it to another Republican crash and burn.

Your assessment of Trump’s handling of both his promoted virus and the present economic situation is equally delusional and inconsistent with reality on most every front..

How you arrive at your ridiculous and alternate universe conclusions are unknown as you never say where your acquire your information or by what qualifiers they are built on.

By all indicators, Trump is likely to historically be the worst president any 4 years have seen. I suspect that by this time next year while you’re doing all you can to discredit President Biden, you’ll deny ever being a Trump fan.
