FLASHBACK: In 2018 Senate Democrats Demanded Trump Do Something About High Gas Prices of $3 a Gallon in Liberal States

By Mike LaChance

Gas prices are going through the roof. In some places, they are already almost $8 a gallon.

If you ask Democrats about this today, most of them will defend Joe Biden and say that the president can’t do much about gas prices.

Back in 2018 however, Senate Democrats used gas prices to attack then President Trump.

Anyone surprised?

This 2018 article is from U.S. News and World Report:

Gas Prices Rise, and Democrats Point the Finger at Trump

With millions of Americans set to hit the road Memorial Day Weekend and prices at the pump cresting $3 per gallon, top Senate Democrats on Wednesday traded the august halls of the Capitol for a noisy local thoroughfare to “Demand Lower Gas Prices.”

Speaking outside an Exxon near the Capitol, Sen. Maria Cantwell of Washington, the top Democrat on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, called on President Trump to act and sent a pair of letters to the White House demanding the administration lean on OPEC nations to ramp up oil production.

Cantwell was joined by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York and Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey. And the spectacle of Democrats – generally seen as opposed to more fossil fuel production due to its impact on climate change – calling for more oil development did not escape notice.

“We are calling on President Trump to act,” Cantwell said. “We do not want to see the price of oil get more expensive as we go into the summer driving season.”

Where are these Democrats now?

The obvious conclusion is that Democrats didn’t really care about high gas prices in 2018, they were just using it to attack Trump

I was in Medford Oregon two years ago and their gas prices were all below $3:00

What’s so surprising about expecting Trump to be able to do things that idiot Biden is incapable of doing? Secure the border? National security? Energy independence? A booming economy? Lowest unemployment for blacks, Hispanics and women? Middle East peace deals? Killing big-name terrorists? Supporting law enforcement? Does anyone really expect idiot Biden to accomplish ANY of that? No, no one does. It is an acceptable and acknowledged fact that idiot Biden is a failure.

If he wanted to, if he had the BALLS to stand up to AOC, idiot Biden most certainly could do something about gas prices. He can have a positive effect on global supply and cost. Open the throttle wide open on US production and finish the Keystone. It is another immutable fact that idiot Biden CHOOSES not to do what is required, to do the one thing that will not only resolve the problems but also greatly benefit the US citizen.

Trump was a leader, idiot Biden is an incompetent boob used as a puppet.

We can not eliminate the democrat party soon enough

This is why the Republicans will gain 100 seats in the House and why the democrat party will collapse and become irrelevant.

Biden ISN’T refusing to allow American oil companies to produce American gas, you lying little twit. (By the way, Sean, your head looks like a penis.)

Right…

That is a good one

Leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates Refuse To Take Biden Phone Calls, Both Spoke to Vladimir Putin

Remember when Joe Biden tried to claim, because of his election, the U.S. was respected again? Yeah, well, not so much.

Apparently, the Biden administration planned to go hat in hand to the Middle East for help with oil production. However, Saudi Arabia and the UAE refused to even take Joe Biden’s calls.

(Wall Street Journal) […] Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the U.A.E.’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan both declined U.S. requests to speak to Mr. Biden in recent weeks, the officials said, as Saudi and Emirati officials have become more vocal in recent weeks in their criticism of American policy in the Gulf.

“There was some expectation of a phone call, but it didn’t happen,” said a U.S. official of the planned discussion between the Saudi Prince Mohammed and Mr. Biden. “It was part of turning on the spigot [of Saudi oil].”

[…] One U.S. official said the Biden administration has worked diligently to strengthen Saudi and Emirati missile defenses, and that America would be doing more in the coming months to help the two Gulf nations protect themselves. It may not be all the two countries want, the official said, but the U.S. is trying to address their security concerns.

But the Saudis and Emiratis have declined to pump more oil, saying they are sticking to a production plan approved between their group, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, and a group of other producers led by Russia. The energy alliance with Russia, one of the world’s top oil producers, has enhanced OPEC’s power while also bringing the Saudis and Emiratis closer to Moscow.

Both Prince Mohammed and Sheikh Mohammed took phone calls from Russian President Vladimir Putin last week, after declining to speak with Mr. Biden. (read more)

MBS and Sheikh Mohammed are not blind. They know the Obama-Biden teams support the Muslim Brotherhood who are the political wing of the Islamic extremist figures creating unrest in the Middle East.

The Reason for High Gasoline Prices, Showcased in 54 Painful SecondsMay 19, 2022 | Sundance | 81 Comments

Make identity politics the primary qualifier for cabinet positions, and this is what you get.  WATCH (54 seconds):

Then there is this gem:

Simply Epic, During Senate Energy Committee Hearing, Interior Secretary Haaland Questioned About Real Time Press Release Shutting Down Oil and Gas Exploration, The Secretary Has No Idea

During a Senate Energy Committee hearing today, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, a woman specifically appointed for her progressive identity as a native American indian – with no skills to be interior secretary, was questioned by Senator Joe Manchin about a press release [LINK Secretary Haaland Provides Updates on Offshore Leasing Program During Senate Testimony | U.S. Department of the Interior (doi.gov)] from the interior department that took place in real time as Secretary Haaland was giving testimony. Secretary Haaland had no idea what the press release was about.

WATCH:

The issue surrounds the U.S. Interior Department, which is filled to the brim with left-wing climate activists, pushing out a press release saying that any further oil and gas leases are not going to happen. Secretary Haaland was telling congress the Interior Department was doing everything they can to allow oil and gas leases and expand drilling with additional permitting.

The press release from the dept says the proposal the Secretary was stating “is not a decision to issue specific leases or to authorize any drilling or development,” literally undercutting her testimony in real time, and reaffirming that no further oil drilling will be authorized.  Secretary Haaland was caught completely off-guard, stammered and admitted she had no idea what the bureaucrats in the dept were doing.

What this example reveals is something we have noticed and discussed but has become very clear in the past few weeks.
