President Donald Trump’s campaign website recently unveiled a T-shirt that has come under fire because of design similarities between its logo and a Nazi symbol.
The similarity was first noticed, according to Forward, by two Twitter accounts, Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, described as a Jewish progressive group, and the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump group formed by Republicans.
“The President of the United States is campaigning for reelection with a Nazi symbol. Again,” Bend the Arc tweeted on July 1.
Several Facebook posts have noted the similarities, as well. One user noted, “Trump is now selling straight up nazi propaganda shirts.”
Annnnnnnd then they had to make a clarification:
Clarification: The claim that Trump 2020 has put out a T-shirt with a symbol similar to a Nazi eagle and is being criticized for it is true. Worth noting, the eagle is a longtime US symbol, too.

The eagle used in Germany aped the Roman eagle symbols.
Neither of them were the American BALD eagle with its white head.

Reichsadler (or “Imperial Eagle”) was a German symbol, just like the bald eagle is an American symbol, but even it wasn’t a Nazi symbol at all… The Imperial Eagle was an ornamental standard that was carried and displayed by the Roman legions.
Stolen symbolisms accusations should aim at the Germans, not Trump.

The problem is that your “history-conscious” people have never learned the history of this great nation, else they would know that the Bald Eagle standard was used by the USA long before the NAZIs were ever created. Asserting that the specific species of the stylized eagle can be identified in either the America First symbol or the NAZI standard is utter nonsense.
You’d think they could afford artists able to come up with more original concepts. They already embarrassed themselves by ripping off Star Trek’s Star Fleet insignia for Trump’s U.S. Space Force.

You really need some history lessons. The insignia is based on NASA emblems. The first one was created in 1959, long before Star Trek aired in 1966.
“In the NASA insignia design, the sphere represents a planet, the stars represent space, the red chevron, in the alternate shape of the constellation Andromeda, is a wing representing aeronautics (the latest design in hypersonic wings at the time the logo was developed), and then the orbiting spacecraft going around the wing.
