Clinton campaign, DNC paid for research that led to Russia dossier

Loading

The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about Donald Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin, people familiar with the matter said.

Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, to conduct the research.

After that, Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community, according to the people.

Elias and his law firm, Perkins Coie, retained the firm in April 2016 on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Prior to that agreement, Fusion GPS’s research into Trump was funded by a still unknown Republican client during the GOP primary.

The Clinton campaign and the DNC through the law firm continued to fund Fusion GPS’s research through the end of October 2016, days before Election Day.

Fusion GPS gave Steele’s reports and other research documents to Elias, the people familiar with the matter said. It is unclear how or how much of that information was shared with the campaign and DNC, and who in those organizations was aware of the roles of Fusion GPS and Steele. One person close to the matter said the campaign and the DNC weren’t informed of Fusion GPS’s role by the law firm.

I was giving the Democrats credit for imagination in the false accusations they dream up, but it appears they only make accusations based on what THEY have been doing.

These are the six “Republicans,” who Hillary bribed to hurt Donald Trump:
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan
Sen John McCain
Sen Lindsay Graham
Jeb Bush
Carly Fiorina
John Kasich
Wikileaks has the emails.
Here’s links to a digest of them:

There are “the globalists,” all Dems plus all GOPe including every “Rep” on the above list, and then there’s Trump and a few populists.
The globalists did nothing for the economy over 8+ years.
Pres Trump finds Americans jobs all the time, like the 70,000 as a result of the Boeing deal he facilitated this last week.
In 3 or 7 years the globalists will be back on full power, no doubt.
How quickly will they sell this country out?

Today, from The Hill: Trump campaign data firm sought Assange’s help on Clinton emails: report

The head of a data analytics firm that worked for President Trump’s campaign reached out to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange about locating Hillary Clinton’s missing emails, The Daily Beast reported Wednesday.

Alexander Nix, who leads Cambridge Analytica, reportedly told a third party that he reached out to Assange to see if Nix’s firm could help Assange release Clinton’s 33,000 missing emails. Assange reportedly told Nix he preferred to do the work on his own.

After the report was published, Assange confirmed to The Daily Beast that Cambridge Analytica approached WikiLeaks, but said the site rejected the firm.

The House Intelligence Committee earlier this month requested information from Cambridge Analytica about its work from Trump’s campaign as part of its investigation into Russian interference in last year’s election.

So, let’s see… The Trump campaign reached out to the Russians. (Or the Russians reached out to them, if you believe the Trump crowd’s own story about the Trump Tower meeting—which may have subsequently changed, of course.) And they also reached out to Julian Assange, who has knowingly and repeatedly published highly classified material stolen from our nation’s intelligence agencies. Enormous volumes of it. And the fact that he has done so is public knowledge. In other words, he’s widely known to have engaged in criminal activity, and was already so known at the time his aid was sought.

Whereas the Clinton campaign paid an entirely legitimate commercial research and intelligence firm that provides services to business, industry, and investment concerns, who in turn engaged a respected private UK investigator, with a background in MI-6 and corporate intelligence gathering….

Compare and contrast.

@Greg:

And they also reached out to Julian Assange, who has knowingly and repeatedly published highly classified material stolen from our nation’s intelligence agencies.

No, it was easily gleaned from Hillary’s secret, private, unsecured server. She made them easily available.

So, if you don’t care about how incompetently Hillary treated classified information, why would you worry about someone seeking it out?

The Clinton’s couldn’t find anything to use, so they SOUGHT OUT RUSSIANS AND PAID THEM TO GENERATE LIES. Of course, you are quite OK with that.

One was a meeting. The other (Hillary’s) was collusion. It’s why they lied about it; they KNEW it was collusion.

First charges filed in special counsel Mueller’s Russia probe

“A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., has reportedly approved the first charges in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.

“CNN reported Friday that the charges are sealed under a federal judge’s order, with sources telling the network that those charged could be taken into custody as soon as Monday.”
