On his nationally-syndicated radio show on Thursday, conservative host Mark Levin contrasted the coronavirus pandemic with the Obama-Biden administration’s response to the 2009 swine flu epidemic, especially its decision to stop testing.
Levin replayed a C-SPAN clip from May 2019 in which Ron Klain, a former chief of staff for Biden, says that the Obama-Biden response team “did every possible thing wrong.”
We had a bunch of really talented, really good people working on it and we did every possible thing wrong and 60 million Americans got H1N1 in that period of time.”
“Well, why didn’t they prevent it?” Levin asked. “Why didn’t they have everybody hunker down?”
A report by CBS in 2009 said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) told states to stop testing. Levin quoted the CBS reporter Sharyl Attkinson, “In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for the H1N1 flu and stop counting individual cases.”
“The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was ‘why waste resources testing for the swine flu when the government has already confirmed that there is an epidemic?’”
“But Obama, Biden said no more testing, therefore no more reporting on the consequences. This is so damning. This is so damning.”
An estimated 12,469 individuals in the United States died from (H1N1) pandemic virus infection in the first year of the outbreak, according to the CDC. COVID-related deaths in the United States number 126,647 between early February and July 17.
Once again, we see that a corrupt media allows for harm to be perpetrated upon the country with impunity. If the media would treat each story on its own merits and stop favoring Democrats, they would be forced to better serve the nation. I think we need a full investigation of the CDC, FDA and NHI we need serious reforms as they are pretty kissy cozy with drug companies, no quality control when these poisons are made outside of the country.
@kitt: What needs to happen is that anyone that shows they cannot put their personal politics aside and perform their job (serving the American people) should be fired.
Diseases have mortality rates per 100,000.
In the USA the china virus mortality rate is 46.86 per 100,000.
But the H1N1 flu only killed 12,469 when over 60,000,000 got infected. The death rate is less than 1 per 100,000.
(Of course, if it pulls your heartstrings, most of those deaths were YOUNGER PEOPLE.)
The laws of diminishing returns tells us there’s little point in spending lots of money on a risk that is that low.
I think the regular flu killed more people that year, btw.

Hi everybody, here’s a couple of insider nuggets for you. I just had a visit from a bio-scientist working with venture capitalists on funding vaccine research. He said a few interesting things:
The big boys think the economy will be looking good by next spring.
He’s optimistic about a vaccine “soon” which seemed to mean December-January-ish.
The virus is causing huge change in the pharma industry and it will be positive change.
He likes the Kodak deal and similar moves.
To estimate total cases, take whatever numbers are reported and multiply by ten!
