Biden was initially in support of a DC Council bill to basically make crime legal in DC:
The D.C. Council bill would reduce penalties for murders, carjackings, armed robberies, armed home invasions, and sexual assault offenses, even amid rising crime in the nation’s capital.
Then suddenly Biden changed his tune
The White House issued a Statement of Administration Policy on Feb. 6, saying it supported Washington, D.C., statehood and therefore would not interfere with a local crime bill. But he reversed course Thursday afternoon, saying that if Congress overrode the district’s bill, he’d sign it.

Democrats laid into President Biden on Thursday after he announced that he would back federal legislation overriding a Washington, DC, crime bill that has been called soft on criminals.
“The White House f–king this up royally,” an anonymous House Democrat told the Hill.
“F–KING AMATEUR HOUR. HEADS SHOULD ROLL OVER AT THE WHITE HOUSE OVER THIS,” the lawmaker added, noting that the White House had previously expressed its opposition to the resolution nixing the bill, and claimed that it would back the DC City Council.
DC officials also expressed their outrage at the 80-year-old president’s apparent about-face on the matter.

Biden’s support to overturn the D.C. law comes as national Republicans are increasingly pointing to rising murder and assault rates in large cities to portray Democrats as soft on crime.
He saw Lori Lightweight go down in Chicago in no small part because she cared more for criminals than victims. The handwriting is on the wall for the rest of the country. Woke is a joke.

President Biden appeared to go off script during his State of the Union address Tuesday evening, saying that the U.S. would need oil and natural gas for many years to come.
“We are still going to need oil and gas for a while,” Biden said during his speech.

Biden is going to portray himself as the tough on crime guy, the debt crusher and the energy cost reducer, all while asserting Republicans are the opposite. You won’t recognize the guy except for the last part.
