Texas is suffering a major disaster due to Hurricane Harvey and countless people are volunteering and donating. The Cajun Navy in particular, has done wonderful work:
One volunteer rescuer with the Cajun Navy, identified only by his first name, Brandon, told local ABC Houston station KTRK-TV that he came from Hammond, Louisiana, in order to assist with the rescue efforts, adding that he hopes to “give back.”
“Because Louisiana has always had its fair share of hurricanes and everybody has always showed up for us, so it’s time to give back,” Brandon said.
“The Cajun Navy, they pretty much step up and make it happen,” he added, saying that they prioritize rescuing elderly people and children, “and then whoever else hollers they need a ride.”
Joe Martinez, another citizen rescuer and member of the Cajun Navy, told KTRK that he came from Lafayette, Louisiana, “with a group of 10 boats … and everybody went and tried to save some people.”
“We have meteorologists,” Martinez added. “And everybody is volunteer, they dispatch, calls come in, people find it on Facebook, whatever, they post a call, they just get the information out.”
Nothing else mattered – not race, not political leaning, nothing except for saving people
Houston has brought out the best of America. But there are notable absences among the rolls of those who are helping. They include:
The antifa (not any of them)
Black Lives Matter
The Clinton Foundation
Kanye West (doesn’t care about black people either)
The cast of The View
Just thought you’d like to know.
Well, they might even have considered putting them on the side of a mountain in Alaska, but some Dimocrat told them that would be foolish. Most hazardous chemical plants are built for ‘worst case’ scenarios. Sometimes actuality is worse than Worst case. But if you insist that the rules weren’t tight enough, then I’ll say it must have been Dimocrats setting the rules.
So this is the coldest year in about 17 years, kinda destroys that theory.
But since this is the coldest year in 17 years, kinda destroys that theory.
Only problem being that sea levels are same as 100 years ago and even longer
Oh, so now you’re a scientist.
Sure you are.
And certainly that excludes you.
So, given that there hasn’t BEEN any warming since about 1990, this terrible hurricane didn’t happen.
Greg, your religious leaders have played you for a fool. Don’t keep making it worse by continuing to deny it.
@Greg: Is this weather or climate?
No Michael Mann — Climate change did not cause Hurricane Harvey
L A Times dishonest, deceptive and flawed claim that Hurricane Harvey is linked to man made climate change
Texas Major Hurricane Intensity Not Related to Gulf Water Temperatures
@Curt: Desperation. Sheer desperation by liberals to be relevant.
There might be people with money invested in the Arkema facility wondering why they didn’t put their backup generators on platforms, because platforms would have been cheap, while their destroyed facility and chemical stockpiles will likely prove to be very expensive—never mind the possible worst-case scenario that fortunately didn’t happen.
The article linked in post #50 doesn’t suggest warming caused Hurricane Harvey. It states clearly that it didn’t. It points out that warming does promote stronger and more frequent severe weather, however. One extra degree of ocean temperature equates to an enormous amount of additional stored energy. That’s the same energy that drives hurricanes.
That’s pretty much what Mann is saying. He’s not talking about weather forecasting. He’s talking about physics. Where does Bastardi think that additional energy goes?
Suppose that extra degree of temp has a negative sign in front of it? I’m not sure if you’re aware of it but the ocean temp in the Atlantic and Gulf are lower this year than normal. So that doesn’t explain Harvey does it. Normally when a tropical storm enters the gulf headed toward Texas, it just hits shore and goes until depleted. Not Harvey, why? Well, the weather in Texas and west of Texas and North of Texas was colder than normal (not warmer) and it prevented the warm air from the gulf from penetrating the front of the cold system and kept it stationary. The lower than normal amount of heat in the Gulf was not enough to overpower the colder than normal cold front so, it just sat still and rained. So Bozo, it was the ‘colder’ than normal temps that caused the problem. It had zero to do with global warming. Rich Wheeler has been notified that he’s getting a tuition refund because his school wasn’t capable of teaching him a damn thing. I think you should be applying also.
@Redteam: Well, you are obviously looking at temperatures before they have been adjusted to support the global warming agenda. Just wait a bit and it will all make alarmist sense.
