Don’t cry for Barack Ameritina… [Reader Post]

I know that when Charles de Gaulle said it he was speaking of Brazil, butt his observation actually applies better to its neighbor now: “Argentina has a great future and it always will have.”

Argentina, as you may or may not recall, has only recently recovered from a crippling default on its bonds which left investment in the country virtually nil for over a decade and development levels slightly below that level. Adding to the misery index was another round of hyperinflation. Now they seem inclined to head back in that direction for some reason.

It’s not important how they got into that mess – well, actually it is: “years of lavish public spending and reckless borrowing” caused a decrease in real GDP which lead to highunemployment, (calculated at 18% ,though official figures claimed just 5%) resulting in considerably lower levels of tax revenueThat sounds vaguely familiar.

Anyway, they clawed their way back by bravely adopting a few free market rules before changing their minds and crawling back to the fascist ways that have always worked so well for them in the past, as Doug Ross explains.

So I guess whether you have a good idea or not, you can keep running it up the flag pole till that pig learns to fly.

Butt some pigs learn to fly easier than others

Big Guy ascribes to this premise too: having the pigs bend to your will, that is. So if that dawg won’t hunt, take another big old bite out of it!

bo weiner dog copy
Sooner or later, socialism becomes not only digestible, butt downright tasty!

Welfare-state

So advancing the back-to-the-future mentality of socialist South America, Argentinian Perónista Presidente Cristina Fernendez continues along its path. She nationalized YPF, Argentina’s largest oil company earlier this year and has now ordered private banks to lend companies 15 billion pesos by the end of the year at rates well below private inflation estimates. This will, or so the thinking goes in Central Planning, shore up business and increase production.

BTW, in order to exercise this fiat, Central Planning of Argentina announced last Spring a change in the Central Bank charter which allows el Presidente to set the lending rates. See? How hard is this ruling against the will of the people crap? Not so much.

And surely Big Guy can muster more power than an Argentinian woman. Maybe he can just use his Executive Privileges to issue some more of those Executive Orders to clean up this economic mess that Bush stuck us with. After all, this is an emergency, BO could lose.

Which is why we’re doubling down on our bet against America

Butt back to Argentina: Reuters notes that “The move… marks an escalation in [President Christina Fernandez] war on private enterprise which may spread further…and it would absolutely not surprise us if this is precisely where the US is heading as command economies become the new normal globally.”

Gulp.

So I guess the only answer is for Big Guy to raise more money. To fight the rich. Or something.

So people, the decision couldn’t be more critical. It’s time to pick your favorite Perónista to lead America through the shoals.

The original Perónista, no longer available for benign dictator role

Clearly, Big Guy is still the leading contender for the job:

bo doubling down

Unless he’s taken out by the enthusiasm gap – his:

not the crowd’s:

Bova

So just in case BO decides to throw in the towel,

bo goinestop bothering me
“I just want to eat my waffle.”

We have to have our backup Perónistas standing by.

Lady M is, of course, a contender:

As is Joey:

joey the bee
No enthusiasm gap here

Butt let’s face it: we already have a natural in the wings who has clearly demonstrated all of the prerequisites for the job:

Hillary.don't cry for me
Don’t Cry for me Afghanistan, the truth is, I was never really with you anyway. Nor was my boss.

bo goodbye
Goodbye. And good riddance. Afghanistan, I mean.

Don’t cry for Barack, Ameritina; the truth is he never loved you.

Careful when you use the terms America or American when referring to Latin American Nations. They technically are also Americans. When the nation was founded in 1776 America actually referred to the western world bi-continental region. In fact South AMerica was named America before North America was. Sorry don’t mean to get too technical.

Am I missing something, or is there a reason you use “butt” instead of “but” in your articles?

Let’s not be distracted by symantecs or extra t’s.

Western Civ take note: Want to see where Progressivism will lead, look no further than Argentina.

FORWARD: Come Visit the Future!

Argentina. She doesn’t work, their system is broke:

– Argentina defaults on global debt in 2001

– 2003 Welcome the enablers. They default but still get loans for shiny beads by these guys: THE WORLD BANK: The World Bank: Working for a World Free of Poverty; utopia thru redistribution [Utopia will never exist].

– Argentina seizes pension funds to pay their debts in 2008

High taxes when combined with a 21% VAT at every level of production [<– M.Friedman: The PENCIL]. A tax at every level.

– Crony capitalism: Empresarios K. Worth a google, tu hablas or you’ll need to translate .

Price controls and resulting milk and meat shortages; actually shortages on everything.

Rampant Inflation

– Another take away from the ^^^ same article: censorship. The government has gone to extraordinary lengths, involving fines and threats of prosecution, to try to stop independent economists from publishing accurate inflation numbers.

– Falklands saber rattling. Classic distraction to rallying a national cheer to distract from domestic problems.

Dollar sniffing dogs. Literal capital flight laws and kinetic action to contain wealth in the state.***

***Made a flippant remark in that Romney thread about the wisdom of investing overseas and the real threat of domestic wealth/gold confiscations (1933) and this article was trending in my mind at the time.

PS @Taylor – We own it, screw em. Logic games. We’re Americans. Don’t question that. Technically, below the 28th parallel no one is claiming they’re Americans; not in the sense they own it. I don’t know, find me someone, cite em, would be an interesting fishing expedition.

@Mossomo. Tell that to everyone in Latin America. There is a reason they call us Gringos. I can see their point. Anybody from Canada to Argentina is technically American.

@M. David:
It’s a composite convention that evolved on my blog as function of my role, reflecting Michelle Obama, in the continuing production of the Emperor & Empress’s New Clothes.

About ten or 12 years ago we saw a huge influx of illegals from Argentina.
Every last one of them had been a business OWNER who had to flee the high taxes and inflation.
It was actually better for them to start out from scratch here than to stay there!
And, that entreprenureal spirit could not be squelched.
After only these few years, starting with nothing, not accepting welfare or other handouts, they are each doing better than the average American citizen here abouts.
They certainly sped ahead of our own entitlement-freak class of minorities and layabouts.
All are legal, many own businesses, all own property, all are pulling the wagon rather than sitting in the wagon.
And none of them tears down the USA like so many of our homegrown sloths.

Nan G.
you do have the right tools to unscrew the screw-up screw
very well said as usual. and so very entertaining,
bye

: Thanks for explaining.
@Mossomo: I definitely wasn’t distracted, just confused by it.

Taylor
you won’t hear that in CANADA, WHERE THERE IS ONE WORD IT IS CANADIANS, and
the word AMERICA, AMERICANS ALSO FIT THE USA ONLY,
EXCEPT WHEN YOU ARE DESCRIBING THE GLOBAL CONTINENTS,
