The Tragic End Of G.O.P. Motors [Reader Post]

Loading

After much contemplation of how to put into words the current struggle between the Republican Establishment and the ever growing disgruntled Conservative base I found this to be the best way to explain the situation as I view it…

A man walks across the street from his house to GOP Motors, a local franchise that he and his family have done business with for many years. One the lot are four vehicles, 2 new pickup trucks, one covered by a tarp, a beat up old blue pickup truck with a plow next to the garage. He spots a man in a suit and tie standing in the lot whistling to himself and looking for all intents and purposes a man who could be of some assistance. Walking over to the man our story begins.

Joe: Hi. My name is Joe Blow and I see you have 2 new pick up trucks for sale. That’s just what I am looking for. See, I got a good chance at landing this job that requires me to be able to negotiate rough terrain, haul tools and material, and be reliable. Another guy has been doing this job, but he is about to be fired and if I can get on over to the job site, the job is mine. With this economy I cant afford not to get it. So I am in a hurry and I want to buy one of your new pick up trucks. I want to look at the white one first.

The sales man listens intently, nods a few times, and extends his hand for a handshake.

Reg: Well how do you do Joe! My name is Republican Establishment Guy but you can call me Reg. Friend, I hear what your saying and I know I got the right vehicle for you! I know you think you need white pickup truck but I’ve got some thing better then that that’s gonna knock rock your world! With dramatic flourish he reaches over and whips the tarp off the vehicle it has been hiding. Suddenly confetti is being shot from a fake cannons. A marching band starts playing a catchy little pop tune. Balloons are released. Mini pyrotechnics are spewing sparks beside the uncovered vehicle. Reb is vibrating with excitement! He is grinning from ear to ear as he dances over to you.

Reg: Now that’s what ya want right there Joe! State of the art, high tech, and very popular with the ladies! The Romney Volt is exactly what you need! Lets get on into the office and do the paperwork. Reg starts skipping off to the office pumping his fist in the air. Joe stands there confused . He turns to the direction Reg is going.

Joe: Hey Reg! Lets slow down a second alright. Reg turns around and skips back over humming the tune the band was playing with a confused look on his face.

Reg: What’s the matter Joe? The color? Oh we can change that no big deal if that’s the issue. Hell this Romney Volt was designed with the ability to change its color to match whatever colorer the person looking at it wants to see. Watch! Reg closes his eyes, squints, and stares at the Romney Volt. Suddenly the color scheme of the car morphs into a sickly yellow with a pink tint.

Joe: Well Reg, thats neat and all but the color is not the issue. It’s the car. Actually it’s the fact that its a car and not a pickup truck like I need. I already have a McPrius in the driveway on cinderblocks that I bought from you a few years ago that doesn’t run anymore. What I need is a pickup truck.

Joe starts walking over to the white pick up. It is a Dodge Palin with the Alaska package. Big tires, lift kit, big shiny tool box in the back and a electric winch in the front. Just what Joe is looking for. Joe turns to Reb. Joe: This is what I want. I can get to the job site no matter where it is. I got a safe place for my tools, a big bed for the materials, and even a winch I can put to good use. Lets go into the office and discuss the terms and..

Reg: Oh come on! You don’t want the Dodge Palin. The Romney Volt is what you need. I mean look at that beauty! Its even eco friendly! All the chicks dig it! That magic paint job! You gotta get this thing!

Joe: Naw Reg. I want the pick up truck. Lets go get this done. I don’t want to lose a chance at getting this job. Joe turns towards the office takes 3 steps and hears SMASH! Turning around Joe sees Reg with a sledgehammer, breaking the windows, caving in the fenders, knocking off the mirrors. Shocked Joe runs over to Reg who is smiling as he walks away from the Dodge Palin, drops the sledgehammer , and wipes his hands briskly together.

Joe: What the hell did you do that for! Reg: I was saving you from yourself! Now that that’s settled, lets get you in that Romney Volt! Joe is dumbfounded. He doesn’t know what to say. He has heard a few stories in town saying that Reg has been acting a little erratic lately. Some say it all started when Tea Party Auto opened up a couple of years ago down the road. People had been telling Reg for a while now that they were getting tired of the limited selection he had on his lot for sale and promising things that he couldn’t deliver on. It was really bound to happen but Reg just kept ignoring his customers.

Joe thinks for a few seconds realizing he is pressed for time and doesn’t want to lose the job he starts to walk over to the black pickup truck. Joe: Alright Reg, I know you’ve been having a bit of a hard time with Tea Party Auto opening up a while ago so lets just put that incident behind us and take a look at that black Ford HurriCain. Joe walks over, kicks the tires. The Ford hurriCain is a bit smaller then the Dodge Palin. It does have a solid engine, no winch though, but its four wheel drive and it looks like it can do what he needs. He will just keep his tools in the cab. No big deal.

Over walks Reg. Reg: Joe, you don’t want that thing. It make look ok but I am telling you its not going to do what that Romney Volt can.

Joe: Ok, Reg. I know you want me to buy the Romney Volt. Like I said though Reg, I don’t want the Romney Volt. Its not going to do what I need it to do. I need this for a job. I don’t care about magic paint or that the thing is ‘eco’ whatever. I just want a pickup truck.

Reg: Its not what your looking for Joe. I know these things.

Joe: Enough Reg, I want the pickup. Lets just go to the office and get the paperwork done. Tell ya what. I will even do the registering with the state and all that myself. Ok?

Reg: Fine! But your going to be sorry.

Joe: I think I will be alright. Now you are not going to grab that sledgehammer again are you Reg? Reg smiles and shrugs.

Reb: Nope!

Joe: Good come on lets get to the office so I can get going. Joe and Reg head to the office. About halfway to the door Joe hears a loud WHOOSH! Turning around he sees three men dressed as ninjas slashing the tires, cutting brake lines, and finally lobbing a Molotov cocktail into the cab. As flames start engulfing the cab the three ninjas disappear into the woods.

Reg: Oh man! That’s some tough luck Joe! I cant believe that happened! That’s the zanyist thing I have ever seen. Lucky for you I still have that shiny Romney Volt!

Joe: What the hell is wrong with you Reg?! Are you flipping insane?! I don’t want the damn Romney Volt OK?! I need a pickup truck Rebg! What the hell is it about this freakin’ Romney Volt that has you destroying the rest of your inventory?! Jesus to Pete man!

Reg: Its because the Romney Volt is the best car ever! Its shiny! Its clean! Its been poll tested to show that independent car shoppers between the age of 18-45 might like it. Plus if you don’t buy it its your fault I will go out of business!

Joe cannot believe the words that just came out of Rebs mouth. My fault he goes out of business? What the hell? He could have just sold me the damn pick up and he would have the Romney Volt to sell to some professor from the Democrat University. They love these things. This man is bat shit crazy. I should just walk on down to Tea Party Auto but I don’t have the time. He walks over to Reg.

Joe: Ok that’s it! That beat up blue Chevy Newt with the plow on it.

Reg: That rusty old thing with all the dents?

Joe: Yes. That rusty old PICKUP with all the dents. I want it. I will give you the cost of your precious little Romney Volt plus the Chevy Newt on top. I will take care of the registration and all that crap. I am going to pay you in cash right here right now. On top of that I will plow your lot for free in the winter because I have a feeling the police are going to be showing up soon to take you into protective custody and you may be gone for a while. Lets just go get the keys so I can get the hell out of here!

Reg is beat red. His face is twisted into a snarl so contorted his eyes are watering. He looks as if he is about to explode. He blurts out. Reg: Your wife is ugly! You’re a backwater hick! You daughters a slut and you are not leaving this lot unless its in my Romney Volt! That’s final! End of story! Because if you don’t buy my Romeny Volt niether one of us is leaving this sales lot alive!

Suddenly Reg pulls a grenade out of his pocket and with a wry smile puts his finger through the pin ring.

Reb: So now what are you going to do now big guy!

A man in a big black bus drives by. Looking out the window between practice putts he has been sending down the isle he sees two men. One throwing his hands up in the air turns to walk away. The other is yanking something away from a round object in his hand and reaching for the other man. He smiles to himself as he settles over his next putt and whispers “Job security, gotta love it.”

A few seconds later, in the distance could be heard a faint boom.

I am trying to figure out which way you want to go, is it OBAMA ?
FOR another 4 years, or these CANDIDATES,
is there another party, I don’t know ?
but is not there to join with the CANDIDATES, so they are all we have and sure not perfect,
who want a perfect human, but all want a human with HEART , passion, intelligence, and one that
know the danger and how to fix it, and like GINGRISH SAID it is big job,
AMERICANS must pick themselves up before they can pick one CANDIDATE,
if you are depress , you are not able to see the light flashing in your brain,
telling you that you must react and find a hope for the future that begin by changing what you must to get a chance to obtain resolution to big problems, and you are right to think that it’s not easy,
it’s not easy, you have the profile of a CANDIDATE WHICH IS NOT THERE COMPETING, and cannot win
because he does not exist, we demand too much of them, we are very fortunate to see them carry on, even after their ordeal of being probe naked from AMERICANS, SOME HATER, SOME OTHER ARE TO SCARE TO THINK POSITIVE, IS AMERICA BECOMING SO LOW, that they try to destroy them to see if they will survive?

Tercel
hi
It will be hard for the CANDIDATES, because the people want 2 persons in one body,
and are too scare to not have one beat OBAMA to win the election,
first of all what is OBAMA, lets define if he is so hard to beat, if we need an alien to beat
what who, where does he come from, what does he read and what did he learned and believe in, where does his leadership is seen, why does he have to hide about him, why does he have to lie, why is he trying to tell people they must do what his agencies are demanding, why did he get the TSA TO XRAY THE PEOPLE, what kind of work is he doing now .
he look like he hate AMERICA, HE WANT TO CHANGE AMERICA, CHANGE FOR WHAT, FOR WHO,
OBAMA came in, no question asked,
now get of the back of the CANDIDATES, and as you see they all can beat him, it will be a piece of cake, they are not afraid, so support the CANDIDATES, GOD IS ON THEIR SIDE.

@ilovebeeswarzone: Bee I want some Bee, an individual who could care less about any party, be it the DNC and or the GOP. I want someone who is not going to keep doing what all the rest have been doing for years Bee which is selling their votes to the massess who want free crap. And why have our rhinos been selling us out Bee. So they could stay in power. All the while telling us that they had to compromise. Their endless compromise is why our nation stand on the brink of the abyss. Along with the help of the democrats of course. Bee have you not noticed that any entitlement is never stopped now, take unemployment for example. back in the day it lasted for so long. that was it. over. Not now. Our leaders fear their subjects wrath, so they keep giving the masses what they want, if they don’t the libdems beat them over the head with the guilt club, and more niffty propaganda tools. I might add that our reps know nothing of the effective use of propaganda. But the libdems do, and they use it all the time. We cannot keep spending like we are. Yet have you seen any politicans go the tube and explain in simple terms to the American public what is going to have to happen sooner or later Bee. NO. They know Bee. They have too. Or they are even dumber than Ithought. Social security is in major trouble, medicare, the economy, the world economy, the list is endless yet little or no real solutions to any of these problems. Not realistic of course. They fear the truth Bee, if people really would stop and do some simple projections. So instead they keep the coffers open, and making more money for their subjects. I want an ethical person who has no political agenda, and or dreams of being famous to go to DC and set things right. More than one really. But the GOP and DNC fear that more than anything in the world. They are like the old time mob bosses, they don’t want change at all. So we get to watch and listen to reruns from them every nite about how good things will be, but things only get worse. Thats just a tad of what I want Bee. And I know that thousands of more Americans want it too. thanks for your repsonse Bee. I am just sick and tired of these selfish crooks, all of them. Granted there are a few up there that have not been corupted by their power. But nowhere near enough to make the changes we need.

Gary G. Swenchonis
yes I can see you’re impatience, CHRISTMAS IS at our door, no,w I wish you a good one,
no politic talk, I know it’s impossible to not talk politic when all gathered anxious to get you going,
if they are DEMOCRATS, It will be bloody at your house
, keep your baseball bat hidden but remember where, and the first one who approach to tell you his opinion
excuse yourself and go get your baseball bat and wack him down, repeat until they are line up,
and eat your turkey, take the best part, leg or white meat and eat peacefully and proud to have eliminated those DEMS, untill they wake up, what a nice CHRISTMAS you will let us know how many you got down sleeping DEMS.
BEST TO YOU, and MERRY CHRISTMAS

Thanks for the comments and the critiques. This was formatted, reformatted, then reformatted again before it was submitted. I did it in a rush and should have double checked the post before I submitted. But yes I do know about spell check, just not bright enough to use it.

– check out the 1st amendment. Irrespective of what values the US is based it makes a clear distinction of church and state and thus is a secular state. I only wish the UK did the same. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secularity

+ who cares what the GOP establishment thinks. How are they going to stop you voting for your preferred candidate? So far Cain and Perry have done damage to themselves – not caused by the GOP establishment. Convenient excuse?

@GaffaUK: The U.S. is “secular” only to the extent that the government is forbidden from establishing an official religion and prohibiting the practice of all others as did England at one time. In such a symbiotic system, the State gives money and power to the church, and the Church gives moral sanction to the State. That sort of system evolved from the stone-age relationship between the tribal strongman and the shaman. If the various inquisitions, witch-burnings, and religious wars throughout English history aren’t enough to convince you, read (or watch) )Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett for a further example of why a State-Religion arrangement is a bad thing.

@Gary G. Swenchonis:

And why have our rhinos been selling us out Bee. So they could stay in power.

One of my favorite quotes from Cold Mountain is spoken by Ruby Tews: “The politicians make the weather, then say ‘Oh sh*t, it’s raining!”

@John

If the various inquisitions, witch-burnings, and religious wars throughout English history aren’t enough to convince you, read (or watch) )Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett for a further example of why a State-Religion arrangement is a bad thing.

Absolutely and that’s why I believe state and church should be separate like most modern secular democracies including the US – irrespective on how many people follow a particular religion and irrespective of what historical values it may have been built on. At a state school in the UK I had to pray, sing hymns, listen to Bible stories, watch or appear in Nativity plays, draw Bible scenes etc. Little if anything was given over to other religions and nothing taught on atheism. All that would of been fine if it was done in a church but indoctrinating little children through a state system is wrong. Our head of state is the Queen – which is not only wrong ethically in itself – but also the head of the Church of England – the established church. Fortunately the C of E is very weak and not many bother going to church. So embrace the fact that the US is a secular democratic state and fight all those who try to mix state and church.

@Cry, Beloved Country:

…if we run a conservative, we can’t win. There just aren’t enough conservatives in this country to effect change.

Yours was a good post, but I have to disagree with those two statements. As anticsrocks posted above, Americans’ political ideology is predominantly conservative.

On a conservative not being able to win, I’d suggest the GOP try actually running a conservative; The last time the people forced the GOP establishment to run a conservative, he won by a landslide.

GaffaUK
hi, but if the leadership is devoted CHRISTIAN, it bring a model of values very positive even if not impose,
even if also impose too, because of the teaching of the 10 COMMANDS, which you too as an ATHEIST learn by being in under that influence, giving you as a child a first rules of how to not do what is wrong,
even if as a further time of age you decide to join the ATHEIST, you have the basic rules ingrain by CHRISTIANS which are of good influence,
you might have not do as well being influence very young by only ATHEIST, and just look at other religions influence nasty for our COUNTRIES , you’re and here in AMERICA, and as a matter of fact now all over the WORLD, being propagandase by it targeting the young in schools in all step of the ladder,
which this one is and has a WORLD WIDE negative effect on all aspect of life,
at least the CHRISTIANS, learned to limit and strive for the good of humanity, as oppose to enslaving humanity into radicalism.
bye and A MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU.

@Mike Henkins:

Thank YOU Mike; great read, lively discussion. Hope to see more from your refreshingly creative mind!

And thanks to all of you guys who responded to my question; all very helpful to me in understanding why we are going RINO!

@GaffaUK:

Gaff you are “half right” and even better, beautifully make my original point that a “secular” democratic country can’t survive. Indeed, as others have pointed out to you, America was founded on Judeo/Chrisitan Values, with the wisdom that secularism is right for government, but wrong for its people. The problem came about when the left decided, based on their “feelings”, that religion was also wrong for the people.

Consequently, we now have for the most part, a Godless culture, based not on moral standards (which can only come from God), but on moral relativism/feelings (as a result of NOT having God based morality). Even David Brooks, a RHINO if there ever was one, wrote a piece about in the NYT’s a while back.

Just this week, we reached another new low, the “normalization of incest” in highschool”, and even worse, NO ONE COMPLAINED.

Using mere common sense, if parents can make out with their kids, and find it “fun”, is it any wonder we have our politicians selling out to everyone and his/her brother, so seduced by power and greed that “we the people” , the ones they promised under oath to rightly represent, don’t matter?

All said, you need not go back more than 50 years to see how “religious” this country actually was. I was recently shocked to find footage of a rosary rally in San Franciso (now the most liberal city in America), that still holds the record for the largest crowd ever. The video showed all of the Hollywood A list attending along with Gerry Brown’s then governor father and other politicians. I can’t seem to find that video, but I did find this, coverage of it for FIVE STRAIGHT DAYS in the SF Chronical.

Gaff that was in 1961. I ask you or anyone to compare that today, and then ask yourself how much worse it will be in just 10 more years. History has already given us that answer, NADA, LIGHTS OUT. Why, because without moral standards, we have nothing higher than ourselves, consequently, we eat each other alive, something I don’t need to convince anyone of, as the evidence is being played out in full color before us.

We have been well warned, but it appears we are going to have to learn the hard and painful way, headed for the biggest car pileup in world history!

@GaffaUK: John Cooper summed up what I was going to say very nicely in #57. I understand what you meant by the term “secular” as you used it. I was just trying to point out that our entire society is based upon the idea of a moral order, or civil contract. The civil contract is itself, based upon receiving individual rights from a higher power, or as it states in our Declaration of Independence, our Creator.

You said, in part:

…indoctrinating little children through a state system is wrong.

That is why American conservatives rail at the leftist indoctrination in the vast majority of our public schools.
.
.

@anticsrocks:

That is why American conservatives rail at the leftist indoctrination in the vast majority of our public schools.

You got that right antisocks. Did you see the latest? Now that gay marriage and sex is well underway, it looks like the left is now moving on to the normilization of incest (I have the link in #63).

@Patricia: I followed the link, read the story and watched the video. It is completely disgusting and no one there seemed to think that it was at least inappropriate, much less sick and disturbing.

I live in the midwest, in a very blue state, but the county I live in is pretty conservative and our public school system does not push the usual liberal, leftist agenda. Thank God.

@Mike Henkins: Either way It was still a great post. the mistakes did not take away anything from it for me.

@John Cooper: Another excellent point john! I get so sick and tired of the establishment telling the people who is not electable. The other nite Coulter along with oriley were doing their best character assassination on Newt, just one small example. Who are they but mouth pieces for the GOP. Like a good democrat friend is always reminding me, “you guys will never even come close to a conservative again with your own talking heads telling the sheep not to go there.” Paraphrase. I get furious at him, but he is right. But where i hope I am right is in the long run. That things will become so bad in this country that those who are conservative and don’t vote, and those people who vote but forget about it for another four years all wake up along with the rest of us who have realized that doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is not only insanity, but slow suicide and then we all throw the professional politicians out and return the government back to the people.

@ openid.aol.com/runnswim:
Larry, my premiums are going up 30% next year. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you why, but I will anyway. Insurance companies can no longer use pre-existing conditions and the kiddie clause that allows adults up to age 25 to remain on their parents insurance. Now, I understand and sympathize with the pre-existing conditions. I’m sure just about everyone read about the lady who was diagnosed with cancer, went to her local obamacare advisor and got insurance. Insurance that she was unable to afford previously, but somehow magically can afford now that she has cancer. And many believe this is exactly what is going to happen under obamacare. People will pay the fine until they get really sick, get insurance, the drop it when everything is all better.
The government sucks Larry, plain and simple. Medicare may have the highest customer satisfaction in the world, and why wouldn’t it. If I could take someone else’s money to pay for my healthcare, I would be happy too. But medicare is going broke. The money people pay in is not enough to support their medical care in old age.
The feds should get out of it and let the States figure it out without any interference from the feds.

@ilovebeeswarzone: Thanks alot bee! And I wish you a Merry Merry Xmas as well! I am thinking of hiding out this Xmas. I know I will get my face rubbed in it big time. So far this race has gone just like my libdems friends have predicted, that their man Rommy will be the one who gets the nod. And yes I will keep the bat in the closet.

Patricia
hi,
yes the left will do anything to get the votes from all sector of SOCIETY,
I bet they promised something to the MAFIA also, but the MAFIA don’t need any promisses,
they are running the show,

@Aqua: You said:

Medicare may have the highest customer satisfaction in the world…

But Medicare also denies more claims than private health insurers.

Medicare: Largest Denier Of Health Care Claims

If Obamacare doesn’t get repealed, it will only get worse.

Utopia, indeed…

there was many PRESIDENTS who had puisycal minor flaws,
and the AMERICANS votes them in, and most where SUPER PRESIDENTS,
how come this election coming is such different, we see the opponent at work diminishing
a CANDIDATE ‘S values, because of minor flaws, which has nothing to do with his quality of leadership,
and the MEDIA IS GETTING IN IN THIS DEMOLITION FULL SPEED AHEAD,
I hope the ones who VOTE, THAT IS THE PEOPLE, see those scams and ignore the intent to hurt a CANDIDATE WHICH VALUES ARE CLEAR TO MANY OF THEM.
it’s for the PEOPLE to demolish the propaganda from the MEDIA , by voting with their guts feelings,
not with the MEDIA’S MESSAGES AND INNUENDOS, SNEAKING UNDERNEATH THEIR WORDS TRYING TO DECEIVE AMERICA, SHAME ON THOSE MEDIA, WHO USE THEIR POWER TO DESTROY A SUPER CANDIDATE’S ABILITY TO BECOME THE BEST LEADER OF AMERICA FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE,
and to the MEDIAS which are doing the wrong to CANDIDATES,
I say to them all, don’t you forget who’s in charge of the MISSION TO VOTE THE NEXT PRESIDENT,
THE PEOPLE WILL GIVE THE MEDIA THEIR MESSAGES THIS TIME, not the other way around,
for AMERICA THIS TIME,

No one hatemongers like a “Christian” upholding “values.”

“The left” is responsible for everything evil in society, according to these people. The “left” is now alleged to be promoting incest. I watched the video. Nowhere did it show the political affiliation of the people involved.

You want to blame Hollywood? I could agree with that. I hated “Sex in the City” and I hated “Desperate Housewives.” I hate most “date movies,” which are popular among high school students. This is the sort of thing which has rotted our culture. But I also hate snuff movies and I hate snuff video games and I hate rap music with violent and/or misogynistic themes (so did Tipper Gore). I hate it that high school football coaches today openly teach their kids to “win with cruelty.”

But blaming whatever you don’t like in this country on “the left” is hatemongering, pure and simple.

There’s a lot more that I hate. I hate it that nearly 60,000 of my generation lost their lives in Vietnam and that millions of Asians died in the broader conflict. I hate that 4000 American soldiers were killed in Iraq and 30,000 were wounded — many permanently and horribly. I hate it that 100,000 Iraqi civilians were killed and that an entire generation there won’t know what it was like to have the semblance of a normal life. I hate it that we’ve already spent $800 billion there, with a continuing bill of $trillions to come.

I hate it that the richest people in America tried to become even richer, and, in so doing. brought down the economy for a decade and further increased our previously exploding debt. And I hate it that so many people get apoplectic about the thought of an undeserving poor person getting food stamps, while giving a complete pass to the rich tax cheats that cost the treasury (and the rest of us honest taxpayers) much more money.

I hate all that stuff, but I don’t hate any particular political class of people. I don’t blame any particular political class of people. What happened, happened, and the question is, what lessons can we learn and how can we make things better, going forward?

The “Right” can’t make it better. Put The Right totally in charge and they will overreach and alienate, just as bad as the “Left” overreaches and alienates.

The only thing which can fix America is Americans. All Americans. No one particular political segment can impose its will on the rest of society.

My big disappointment with Barack Obama is not the policies he’s pursued or the legislative results he’s achieved. For the most part, I’m in agreement with those and satisfied with those. My disappointment is that, although he did try, he couldn’t manage to find a way to bridge the gaps and get the nation behind him. The way that I feel about the current crop of GOP candidates is that none of them can even get their whole party behind them, enthusiastically. If they can’t unite their party, how can any of them unite the country?

It’s just going to be same old, same old, same old — hatemongering.

I don’t see a “unifying” GOP Presidential candidate ever emerging. The GOP has become so dogmatic and take no prisoners non-compromising that a conciliator (e.g. a Huntsman type) could never be nominated, although he certainly could be elected.

I think that the Great Unifier would be most likely to be a fiscally conservative, pro- life, pro-traditional marriage (but also pro-civil union), pro-traditional values, pro 2nd amendment Democrat. Such a person could be a strong environmentalist (many conservatives are also environmentalists). He/she could be pro-private sector union. He/she could be anti-military adventurism. And so on. But if he/she had the above qualities and, equally importantly, had the ability to inspire on the level of a JFK, then I really think such a politician could be a truly transformative figure.

In the meantime, among the things I plan on contemplating over the remainder of the Christmas season is how on earth we ever got to the point where a third of the country (conservatives) thinks that another third of the country (liberals) are pro-incest.

Rather mind-boggling.

And very, very sad.

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach CA

Very,very well written Larry. Thanks

openid.aol.com/runnswim
I SEE YOUR sadness in there, you better shake it out, it’s not healthy, as the whole AMERICA IS NOW,
and you are joining the crowd, hey, who’s in charge of dividing the NATION with race cards, class warfare
speeches accusing the other never himself with his entitlement policy, ain’t it what the big thinkers have been saying all these years since it did not change till now, and getting worse and many hurt because of it,
you are satisfied in your life, how come the other are not, are they just lying, and you blame the RICH,
who’s governing this COUNTRY, NOT THE RICH, and that is another divide being incited by those you protect, youre head is in the sand, you need to get it out and face the reality,
you don’t appreciate the CANDIDATES BECAUSE THEY DON’T REPRESENT YOUR PARTY,
NOT BECAUSE THEY DON’T HAVE THE VALUES, they do and more of what you see, they have the passion burning their souls, each one is worthy more than you will ever admit, but they are,
and they will go in history for having sustained
the most injuries, the most lies and insults even personal
they have endure more than anyone in the history of AMERICA, because of OBAMA’S FAILURE,
the whole WORLD is spectator of this event, tragic so sad to allow those fine super AMERICANS be subject to that those offense and still pursue the goal they set up to achieve, and one will take all and become the SUPER PRESIDENT THIS AMERICA DESIRE AND DESERVE,
BYE

Hi Bees (#76):

you blame the RICH,
who’s governing this COUNTRY, NOT THE RICH, and that is another divide being incited by those you protect, youre head is in the sand, you need to get it out and face the reality,

It is a fact that the reason the country will be in financial hot water for a decade to come is not because of welfare programs and it’s not because of radical environmental policies and it’s not because of ObamaCare. The reason that the country will be in financial hot water for a decade to come is because the richest people in America tried to become even richer, through securitization of mortgages and exotic insurance hedges. It’s also a fact that rich tax cheats cost honest taxpayers much more money than poor welfare cheats.

Now, this doesn’t mean that I go around hating rich people or hating federal reserve officers and securities regulators and politicians, for allowing the rich people to bring the country down, as they did. Everyone was working within the existing system. Most were trying to do a good job for their clients and constituents. But they all made mistakes, as people often do.

Whatever else you may feel about Obama, he does not promote incest and he is not responsible for the degeneration of American culture and values. Neither are Democratic Party leaders nor rank and file Democratic Party voters.

And no one can impose his/her will on all of America, not even you, Bees, and not the Tea Party, and not anyone else. This nation has a proud and successful 235 year history of government through consensus, which requires compromise, and that is the only way we’ll ever get out of the hole we’ve all dug for ourselves. And you can’t begin the process of developing a consensus by accusing your political opponents of being moral degenerates. That was the point of my comment.

@openid.aol.com/runnswim:

In the meantime, among the things I plan on contemplating over the remainder of the Christmas season is how on earth we ever got to the point where a third of the country (conservatives) thinks that another third of the country (liberals) are pro-incest.

Larry in your struggle and sadness to find the “Great Unifier”, allow me to help, as there is only one “Great Unifer”, and that “Unifer” is TRUTH. The problem is, believing and agreeing, that truth actually exists, consequently, our culture which is for the most part secular, obtains their “truth” from “feelings”, where just about anything, absent of a true moral standard, can be rationalized.

For you to write a statement like this:

No one hatemongers like a “Christian” upholding “values.”

aren’t you reducing anyone who is steeped in “Christian” Values to a “hatemonger” when in essence, it’s the certitude of the truth itself that you hate?

What you and many of the left don’t appear to understand is that truth is the only reality. There can’t possibly be a “Unification” if there isn’t a unification in reality and truth. No politician can do that, that’s why we have Christmas, a Divine Savior, because left to ourselves, we can look at things like parents kissing their kids publicly for laughs and not get why it’s a big deal.

Sorry, screwed up the block quotes, hopefully it’s obvious which is quote and which is not; can’t fix it in the edit mode.

[Mata note… fixed it for you, Ms. Patricia]

@openid.aol.com/runnswim: I disagree with many of the things you disagree with, but unfortunately it does not matter in the big scheme of things. this battle between the right and left has been going on now since before our nation was formed. They even fought over which values, how strong of an influence those values would have on future generations. Its the natural progression and or digression of any society, some people would say and they would be right. The left is currently winning that war due to their political power in our government, but the right has population on their side, not much of an edge like we did years ago, but still more than the left. But we also have the Rhino that have hurt us significantly, and will even do more damage till they are done away with. But thats part of the battle that every nation that has been born, made, and then destroyed, and or faded from the world stage goes thru. Every nation has its Judas, and or Benidict Arnolds. We are no exception. We could all hold hands, put flowers in our hair and sing “what a beautiful world it is” as we all have sex on the White house lawn, but it would not stop what we are witnessing, and are a part of. As much as the left refuses to believe that values, morals, traditions are the guiding principals in any countries direction, the fact remains that they are. And those are the major issues behind this battle. Right or wrong. And now we are watching nations all over the world beginning to have the same battle we are. To top that off we have other circumstances to deal with, over population, dwindling resources, just to name a few. But our battle will become even more worse than it currently is now. We are now watching events that have never transpired in our country. These events will only grown in intensity, and duration due in part to our weak central governments response to those events. Those sitting on the fence will be forced to pick a side and stick with it to the end. When ever that maybe. Both sides are now engaged in obtaining more resources for their own cause. Money, people with power, etc… and of course influencing the younger generation, and the people on how good their respective beliefs are. Thats why our Rhinos are so dangerous at this critical time in our histroy. if only more people could see how they have helped to pave the way for the liberal victories. They will years later. History will save a spot for them. And I don’t think it will be very flattering. I regret that I will not live long enough to see the outcome years later. Many people are scared and frightened for good reason. But it will be interesting to say the least. The left did not really pick up steam until the 60’s, the right kept them contained for the most part. But now its all out war. And the winner is….. To be continued! Stay tuned!

Hi Patricia,

You were blaming the loss of religiosity in America and the coarsening of values squarely on “The Left,” as if it (weakening of religiosity and values) was some sort of political movement, which it wasn’t. For goodness sake, you even made the charge that “The Left” was in favor of incest, showing as your proof a video which demonstrated or implied no such thing. Which people in that video were political leaders of The Left? Which political leaders of The Left are out there promoting incest?

With regard to the rest of your most recent post, I never said nor implied that everyone (or even a majority) of people “steeped in Christian values” was a hatemonger. I’m steeped in the most important Christian values, myself, which is why I am as upset as you are over a lot of what has happened culturally, in America. But this isn’t the fault of liberals in general, or Democrats in general, or Obama, in particular. And saying that it is the fault of liberals, Democrats, and Obama is indeed hatemongering. It’s no different than Hitler blaming the Jews for the ills of post-WWI Germany. Define what you don’t like about a country and find a whole class of people to scapegoat.

You can’t legislate morality. You can’t legislate immorality. Well, actually, you can legislate both. That’s why there have been something like 250 beheadings in Saudi Arabia this year, to date. But that’s not the way we do things, here in America. At least, that’s not the way we’ve always done things in America, up to the present time.

when in essence, it’s the certitude of the truth itself that you hate?

What on earth do you mean by that?

openid.aol.com/runnswim
hi,
what’s wrong with wanting to become RICHER?
don’t anyone see the pressure of the RICH? they too have their battles to fight for,
but they don’t come to complain, look around the WORLD, the RICH are loosing a lot of money too,
would you prefer to change the RICH AMERICAN WITH THE RICH ARABS OR OTHER IN THOSE COUNTRIES to come here and buy AMERICA? and bring lots of their own to take jobs of AMERICANS, OOPS IT’S BEGINNING

@openid.aol.com/runnswim:

Which people in that video were political leaders of The Left? Which political leaders of The Left are out there promoting incest?

Everyone who isn’t outraged and speaking out against it. Can you even image had that been in a Catholic School? It would be front page NY Times for 4 weeks! This is a perfect example of how we slide down the cultural “slippery slope”, SILENCE and or acceptance, as seen by the cheering and laughter in the video. The latest craze now is sexy “yummy mummies.”

How could you possible believe that the left isn’t anti-religious? For heaven’s sake Larry, the left not only has control of the MSM, most of the colleges, most of the newspapers, almost all of TV, and now the public schools, and you can’t see it. Especially living in CA, where parents’ rights have been taken over by the “school officals”, who can take a kid for an aborton, give birth control, immerse them in transgender sexual education, rewrite American history, indoctrinate them in communistic “political correctness”, and at the same time, not permitted to give an aspirin or dare let them utter a prayer or have a moment of silence?

If you can’t believe that this is the left, I ask you to give me ONE, just one example, of anyone on the right fililng the law suits when at the first sound of “God” , prayer, or the right to keep a kid from gay sexual education?

But just to be clear Larry, I’m not blaming the loss of religiouslity on the left as much as I’m blaming the loss of religiouslity as “creating” the left, that’s the point; exactly why “social conservatism” is so important. Heck we can elect Milton Friedman for president, but until or if we ever get back on track in our social morals, no economist in the world is going to be able to “fix” what is at our core, a moral bankruptcy in this country.

We do agree that morality certainly can’t be legislated, making more the point of the importance and example of having moral leaders as examples.

p.s. to Mata, thanks for the fix!

Hi Bees. There is nothing on earth wrong with being rich. Nothing. Now, whether or not rich people can fit through the camel’s eye to enter heaven is up to God, but, here on earth, there’s nothing wrong with being rich, any more than there is anything wrong with being poor. I don’t blame rich people, in general, for anything. Neither do I blame poor people, in general, for anything.

The only things I’ve ever said about rich people, in general, have to do with tax policies. I don’t believe that rich people should be entitled to endow their progeny, in perpetuity for the next 5 generations or more, with a to the manor born birth entitlement to wealth. Thus I, as did Theodore Roosevelt, support a steep inheritance tax (with common sense provisions for family farms, family businesses, etc.). I also think that the rich should pay a 39.6% marginal income tax rate. These are precisely the policies that Obama supports, and none of it is “class warfare.”

Just calling it “class warfare” is nothing but more hate mongering. Rather than debating the pros and cons progressive taxation, conservatives were the ones to turn the issue into a class warfare issue. Even the 99 percenters are simply saying that tax policies have been skewed to favor the rich and this has had the effect of making higher education unaffordable and otherwise disadvantaging the non-rich. But a 39.6% marginal tax rate is not class warfare, for goodness sake.

Hi Patricia, Before we go any further, please present your evidence that the offensive video in question was the product of the political left or was in any way supported by the political left. What is the political affiliation of the mothers making out with their sons?

You are enraged because I am not apoplectic? If I got apoplectic about every piece of culturally abominable drivel which appears on the Internet, proving that bad judgement in parenting is pervasive, I’d probably be as unhappy as you seem to be. I tend to focus on things more directly relevant to my own life, and poor parenting like that isn’t directly relevant.

I’m going to a party now. Back later.

– Larry W/HB

I don’t believe that rich people should be entitled to endow their progeny, in perpetuity for the next 5 generations or more, with a to the manor born birth entitlement to wealth.

This is a most bizarre attitude. Why, Larry, would you oppose the wealth and assets of the parents to be passed on to their ensuing family members? Or any other person they wish to gift with their physical accomplishments?

Or more importantly… as to what you didn’t say… why do you feel the government has the moral right to those earnings for redistribution, instead of any heir that the earner chooses?

Perhaps you should know that any one can opt to make the government their heir… as James H. Davidson Jr. chose to do with his Coral Gables estate. This is exactly as it should be… a choice. Not a mandate. Now if you want to rue the reality that there aren’t more people who make that choice, that’s a different story altogether.

You say, and I have said this here before, that you can’t legislation morality/immorality in the hearts of man. Yet with that very statement INRE inheritance, that is exactly what you advocate doing.

As to your “what I hate” Christmas list, with some exceptions I don’t think anyone revels in the deaths of our soldiers. I’d also say that both conservatives and liberals agree that the quality of “entertainment” emanating from Hollywood certainly does nothing for instilling commendable values in our children. The odd thing is that the divides in our country – which, as Gary correctly points out has predated our nation’s founding – actually shows that both the left and right have extreme disdain for the elected ruling class, and what they do that affects some of these common gripes. In this aspect, both political ends are united with their distaste.

It’s probably always been there, mind you. But it’s only with the advent of the Info Age that we know more about what Congress does with their time, and how our fellow citizens feel about it. We didn’t used to have C-SPAN, or various online sites to monitor legislation introduced…. just 1/2 hour news shows three times a day on three major networks. Nor did we have the ability to communicate our opinions as easily as we do with blogs, FB, Twitter, etc. Considering we know more about what government is doing, and hear more about what everyone thinks about it, it’s no wonder collars have been on fire.

Considering that the divide is nothing new – only a heightened awareness of it – the most serious divide comes as to what to do about it. The left generally wants more legislative attempts to control fiscal and behavioral “morality”, as if this could make a difference. It doesn’t. It just bolsters the industry from which most legislators originate… the courts and lawyers. Even the rhetoric in the attempts to do so is the blatant usage of class warfare, always pitting the haves against the have nots.

When it comes to influencing the hearts of man, and regenerating a morality that has been declining over the 20th century generations, government can do nothing but become more powerful using it as a tool to further divide. They certainly can’t fix it. Yet the “there oughta be a law” mentality is alive and well as a solution. Mystifying…

BTW, another flip flop for you I notice.

I hate it that the richest people in America tried to become even richer, and, in so doing. brought down the economy for a decade and further increased our previously exploding debt.

…snip…

Now, this doesn’t mean that I go around hating rich people or hating federal reserve officers and securities regulators and politicians, for allowing the rich people to bring the country down, as they did. Everyone was working within the existing system. Most were trying to do a good job for their clients and constituents

I will add that most were trying to do a good job for their shareholders… which translates to almost half of the working American taxpayer. But think about what you said…. you blame the “rich” for “bringing down the country”, and in the next breath say they were working within “the existing system”.

Who made the rules for that system, Larry? The evil “rich”?

You stubbornly refuse to acknowledge that Fannie/Freddie have been involved in the subprime/risky loan business far longer than the private financial institutions… as I’ve proven to you before with the Wallison documentation of the GSE’s accounting since the beginning of the 1990s. Thus why they have more of these on their books than the private institutions. And the reason that the GSEs are still taking on 9 out of 10 of the loans today is because the private institutions don’t want further risk. The private institutions didn’t jump on that bandwagon for almost a decade after Fannie/Freddie.

Fannie and Freddie are largely the criteria setters for all loan qualifications because they are the largest purchaser of mortgages. You cannot separate risky loan qualifications without acknowledging that Fannie and Freddie were the targeted buyer of these, and had been since the early 90s.

Yet you still blame those who, as you totally admit were “working within the existing system”, and steadfastly refuse to focus the blame of that “existing system” where it belongs…. on the elected officials and their regulations and legislation.

I’m getting some severe whiplash, swiveling my head at your contradictory statements and emotions.

Now… back to baking Christmas cookies for me!

The D & R parties are similar to venomous snakes. The D’s are Black Mamba and the R’s are Timber Rattlesnakes. Either are capable of killing however one will sometimes emit a warning which allows a potential victim to escape, the other well it’s a bit more stealthy, a notorious snake….with a reputation for being very aggressive, explosive and highly venomous…tendency to actively attack without provocation. Leadership choices in this great country are down to one or another type of dangerous snake….possibly the only real choice is to remove all the snakes.

@Westie: We will have the snakes till their handlers get tired of being bit! Great comparison though!

Hi Mata, You think it’s fine for Mark Zuckerberg to be able to endow his progeny with a to the manor born expectation of lifetime wealth for the next 200 years; I think that this is poisonous for American democracy. Theodore Roosevelt agrees with me. Ronald Reagan agrees with you. We could argue this forever and never settle the issue. That’s why it’s appropriate to have different political parties and to settle things at the ballot box and in legislative chambers. The country has, as previously stated, always resolved these issues through sensible compromise.

We’ve argued the causes of the financial crash on many threads. I don’t agree with you regarding Fannie/Freddie. You are, in effect, saying that the whole system of securitized mortgages and related insurance hedge market would have done just fine, absent Fannie/Freddie. But Fannie/Freddie originated none of the loans and, at the height of the subprime bubble, purely private financial institutions were making 2/3 of the secondary market and Fannie/Freddie were only doing 1/3. Fannie/Freddie made the same mistakes that the purely private markets were making, with the same (profit-seeking) motives.

I think it’s entirely evident that there would have been the exact same bubble with/without Fannie/Freddie, with the exact same consequences. My only point at this time remains true: it was the investment schemes of rich people which ruined the world’s economy for a decade, and not welfare, bullet trains, or ObamaCare.

I thought some more about Patricia and her video and how it proves that liberals promote incest, because the news media that jumped on it were conservative. The video images which most upset me this week were those of the guy who torched that poor woman in the elevator. Next to that, I can’t manage to whip myself into a state of moral outrage over yet another incident of bad parenting.

Doesn’t anyone want to join me in putting the blame mainly on Hollywood for our social rot? If you want to say that Hollywood producers are mostly liberals, that’s fine. Wealth-seeking liberals, at that. But those people are a tiny percentage of the Democratic Party electorate. That doesn’t justify blaming societal rot on that segment of the electorate which supports inheritance taxes.

Thanks for the warning about holiday party drinking, Bees. I suppose that this brings up the proposed cell phone ban for automobile drivers. Is there a thread on that, somewhere? I don’t answer my mobile phone when I’m driving, even though it’s got a nice loud speaker and even though my wife’s car has a built in blue tooth system. When I talk on the phone while driving, I always miss freeway exits. I figure that someday I could clip a bicyclist or rear end someone; so I just manage to get by without mobile talking and texting when I drive. Do you guys think a cell phone ban is justifiable, or would you object to it as an infringement on “liberties?’

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach CA

So Larry, why aren’t you giving all of money to the government? Did you take payroll taxcuts too? Hypocrite.

@openid.aol.com/runnswim: You covered so many different topics that it would be hard to sit down and answer them all, in one post.

You said:

I hate it that the richest people in America tried to become even richer, and, in so doing. brought down the economy for a decade and further increased our previously exploding debt.

Please watch this short video:

I think you will find it pretty straight forward and it will explain that you look at rich vs poor as a static thing, when in actuality it is a very fluid thing.

Larry: You think it’s fine for Mark Zuckerberg to be able to endow his progeny with a to the manor born expectation of lifetime wealth for the next 200 years; I think that this is poisonous for American democracy.

But of course I think it’s fine for Zuckerberg to choose his heirs. Why wouldn’t I? I thought that was abundantly clear with my comment.

You, on the other hand? Six paragraphs, and you still don’t answer my question as to why you believe that the government should be “legislating morality” (especially when you say it “can’t”), mandating it cannot go to families, and then decide they are the quintessential heir above family/friends or the chosen target of the person who did the earning/rewards. What about family vineyards or other businesses, Larry?

So instead of dodging the question, why don’t you give us your astute explanation as to why everyone should be forced to not leave their rewards of life to family, friends or their CHOICE … and justify just where you think it should be a mandate to leave your worldly goods to the government. After all, as I showed you, that isn’t an impossible choice. But you want it a mandate.

Justify this… any way you think is acceptable. I’m just dying to hear this socialist fairytale.

I don’t agree with you regarding Fannie/Freddie. You are, in effect, saying that the whole system of securitized mortgages and related insurance hedge market would have done just fine, absent Fannie/Freddie.

But Fannie/Freddie originated none of the loans and, at the height of the subprime bubble, purely private financial institutions were making 2/3 of the secondary market and Fannie/Freddie were only doing 1/3.

sigh…. it’s like the a repetitive bad dream, trying to explain history and the mortgage market to you.

Revelation, Sherlock. Fannie and Freddie are secondary mortgage purchasers. Of course they don’t originate loans. Never did. Never will.

That’s why it’s called the “secondary mortgage market”.

You new here or what?

Few loan originators – mortgage brokers or bankers (there is a difference… look it up) – make loans without the ability to resale it on the secondary market. That primary secondary market is Fannie/Freddie. As of today, 90% of the resale secondary market. Before, still 70-80% of the secondary market.

Shall I make this simple for you? Would I manufacture a ga’zillion Gaddafi bobble head dolls for American car dashboards without a willing buyer market? How dumb would that be?

If Fannie or Freddie don’t buy a loan that a mortgage broker/banker originator make, those originators only have two choices…. hold the note over it’s lifetime (i.e. like a community bank), or find a private investor to buy it. Since the largest “big box” mortgage buyer is Fannie/Freddie, if they didn’t buy it, the chances of the loan being made were slim to none.

Been like that for decades. The GSEs have always been the “big box” store for mortgages, and they set the low threshold of product acceptability.

Period. Please learn this… so tired of having to repeat it.

And Fannie/Freddie have been buying them for two decades. That is why they have such a HUGE inventory.

If they hadn’t been, why would we have to bail them out, Larry? How do you think their inventory got so big? Indeed, if your cherry picked years held any modicum of truth of the entire situation, Fannie and Freddie’s slice of the toxic asset pie would not even be needing the first bailout, let along the second coming up. And that includes how much they hold all together, as opposed to the private investors, who didn’t come into the game until 10-12 years after Fannie and Freddie started loading up their portfolios with these loans. Are you under the impression Fannie and Freddie bought them from the private secondary mortgage market institutions?

If you are, you really need to steer clear of this subject entirely… Your misinformation causes more damage than is worth trying to clean up after.

BTW, Larry, INRE your comment:

Doesn’t anyone want to join me in putting the blame mainly on Hollywood for our social rot?

I believe I already said that I believed Hollywood was a large contributor to the downfall of our civil society and moral social culture.

However, unlike Tipper (and you), I don’t believe in bringing in government to be the thought or morality police.

Mata, Larry shows himself to be less benign everytime he posts. The typical leftist envy/hatred, need to for self aggrandizing, and control over others continues to bubble to the surface. He can lie to himself all he wants, but not to others. He is a devout leftist.

@openid.aol.com/runnswim:

Larry if you are so concerned about the “investment schemes of rich people” why don’t you go after the people who make the regulations, starting with the guys behind the curtain who eliminated the uptick rule, turning the stock market into a casino. Funny how so much of that “casino” money funds Obama. I believe it started under Bush’s watch, but was put in place by the SEC. Why don’t you follow that money and see where it take you?

I thought some more about Patricia and her video and how it proves that liberals promote incest, because the news media that jumped on it were conservative. The video images which most upset me this week were those of the guy who torched that poor woman in the elevator. Next to that, I can’t manage to whip myself into a state of moral outrage over yet another incident of bad parenting.

Yeah, I was bothered by the women in the elevator too, can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken the stairs after the door opened and my gut said, “ah, no thanks, I’ll walk.” That said, as horrible as it is/was, it’s a non-sequitur compared to cheering on impressionable teenagers who just made out with their parents. Of course it was only the conservative media who reported, for the simple reason, the liberal media didn’t find anything wrong with it. That’s the point Larry. Even though I believe you probably found it disgusting too, the fact that you would just pass it over as “bad parenting” speaks volumes. Unlike you I refuse to use/cheapen a Hilter reference, but will only say that it only takes enough of your attitude to make “bad parenting” acceptable behavior.

You can blame Hollywood all you want, but it starts with parents, especially parents who speak out so the small stuff doesn’t become the big stuff, albeit not likely to happen when everyone has their own feeling based morality.

Hi Patricia,

You can blame Hollywood all you want, but it starts with parents, especially parents who speak out so the small stuff doesn’t become the big stuff, albeit not likely to happen when everyone has their own feeling based morality.

Of course it does; that’s what I mean by “bad parenting.” But my one and only point is that, whatever it is, it’s not the fault of Obama or the people who voted for Obama. I wouldn’t have commented at all, save for the point that you seemed to be making was that the video you linked was part of a leftist conspiracy to promote incest.

Am I more outraged over a cougar mom making out with her son or by Dads who give Corvettes to their 16 year old sons or moms who dress their daughters like sluts? Honestly, Patricia, I really don’t know. It’s all bad stuff.

@openid.aol.com/runnswim:”whats normal for you is not normal for me.” That was and still is the accepted motto of the liberal curriculum that was introduced nation wide back in about 1993. I know I was there, and fought it tooth and nail as a director of various programs for children and adults. Those curriculums that I wrote, and anyone else wrote had to be approved by a board in your respective states, then they received final approval by the Feds. This was also the time that H. Clinton was appearing at conventions for social workers, Probation/parole officers, and Mental health, and school counselors and teachers, etc… We would have to sit in the large theater and listen to the queen of socialism tell us that “it takes a village to raise an idiot, and parents to raise a child” i think I got that backwards. Also during the 90’s the trial lawyers were given free rien, and both the Juvenile and adult System were completely remade, with the focus on the criminal, not the victimlike it had been since this country was founded. I know, it was my job to stay up with all that because I worked both sysyem, plus the schools, and business as well. It was and is a friking nightmare. I went from state to state as part of my job. By 2000 parents had lost most if not all of their legal control over their children in the sense that the court now takes the side of the child, and condems the parent. Even the grandparents. Our curriculum even told children to report their parents to the teachers if they forced them to pray Note the word “force”. It can be and was and still can be miscontrued very easily on the part of the court. Or better yet, manipulated. Those are only a few ways that our society was changed significantly by the liberal agenda. While the Rhinos hid under their desks for fear of political correctness. So please don’t say the liberals were not, and are not responsible for the changes we see today. Yes the republicans stood by and watched I know. But the majority of blame lies with the liberals.

Why is it that so many Democrats oppose military recruiters on college campus, yet they tend to support a military draft? Rather than support voluntary military service, they would rather use forced conscription. Is it because they like the ideology of the government controlling the people, rather than citizens who are free to make up their own minds?

Ditto, while I can’t answer for rich wheeler directly, to be fair I don’t recall him being against having recruiters on any campus… including even a possible high school “job fair” type event. But perhaps he’ll clarify that. As for Larry? Never heard him say he doesn’t want the military on any campus either.
