We all recall that during the runup to the 2006 election most of us conservative blogs were bombarded by Democrats accusing the Republican led Congress as the most corrupt in history. Sure enough the Democrats came into power and promised to "drain the swamp" of corruption. What have they done so far?
Why they filled the swamp even deeper. The latest example is Murtha threatening a Republican member of Congress:
“I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone and you will not get any earmarks now and forever,” Murtha told Rogers on the House floor, according to the draft transcript supplied to The Politico.
“This is not the way we do things here — and is that supposed to make me afraid of you?” Rogers replied.
“That’s the way I do it,” Murtha said.
Now thats some ethics huh?
Today a motion was voted on to reprimand this coward and loser, and all the Democrats, save two, voted for their ole buddy Johnie boy…
House Democrats rejected a Republican bid Tuesday to reprimand Rep. John Murtha, a senior lawmaker accused of threatening legislative reprisals against a GOP member who had crossed him.
Before and after the largely party-line vote, which caused some Democrats discomfort, Republicans taunted Democratic leaders about their campaign promises to run a more ethical and open Congress.
The House voted 219-189 to kill the Republicans’ motion to reprimand Murtha, a Pennsylvania Democrat, Iraq war foe and close ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
Two Democrats – Earl Blumenauer of Oregon and Jim Cooper of Tennessee – voted against killing the motion. One Republican – Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania – voted for the motion to table, or kill, the proposed reprimand.
While Johnie and his boys yucked it up:
During the vote, Murtha sat in a darkened corner of the House floor, laughing with colleagues who surrounded him during the vote. As the clock wound down, other Democrats him to congratulate the senior member of the Appropriations Committee who oversees a massive defense spending bill every year.
Yuck yuck yuck….the good ole’ boys got a laugh outta that one huh?
I love it. A Republican screws up and he takes his lumps, either resigning or admitting fault. A Democrat screws up by oh, taking a bribe as Murtha AND Jefferson did, and they close ranks, keep powerful chairs, and stay elected.
Put in another way the Democrats never, NEVER, discipline one of their own unless the courts convict the person and take it out of their hands. Meanwhile the Republicans will rush to throw a member overboard merely on the flimsiest of charges launched by the show trials of the Democrat party. Murtha and Gonzales come to mind. Gonzales did absolutely nothing wrong. He fired POLITICAL appointees who serve at the pleasure of the President. He screwed up by not knowing enough about what the hell was going on in his shop, no doubt about that. But everyone and their mother on the Republican side was calling for his head. Murtha, a man who was videotaped taking bribes, who continually uses his earmark power to gain even more power, and who admits to using threats to get another member of Congress who pissed him off gets his shoulders rubbed and yucks it up with his comrades.
Which side would I rather be on? The side that will forcibly apply their moral compass and ethics to all their members or the side that closes ranks with the scum of the earth so they can keep power.
I think you know the answer to that one.
