Free Shalit Or Hamas Leader Dies

Loading

I know you have already heard it from me, but I will say it again.

I LOVE ISRAEL.

This is how you go after those who kidnap your citizens and soldiers:

ISRAEL last night threatened to assassinate Palestinian Prime Minister Ismael Haniyeh if Hamas militants did not release a captured Israeli soldier unharmed.

The unprecedented warning was delivered to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in a letter as Israel debated a deal offered by Hamas to free Corporal Gilad Shalit.

It came as Israeli military officials readied a second invasion force for a huge offensive into Gaza.

Hamas’s Gaza-based political leaders, including Mr Haniyeh, had already gone into hiding.

But last night’s direct threat to kill Mr Haniyeh, a democratically elected head of state, sharply raised the stakes.

The bid to free Corporal Shalit was brokered by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who last night warned Hamas it faced severe consequences if it did not curb its “extreme stance” and described the growing conflict as a lightning rod for Palestinian vengeance.

Did you get that? “Democratically elected head of state”…..Sure thing. A head of state that caused all funding to dry up because the world would not recognize a terrorist running a country.

Typical MSM baloney.

Meanwhile Israel plans to invade Northern Gaza quickly if these negotiations don’t pan out:

[…]Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has vowed the military will do all it can to avoid civilian deaths if a full-scale assault is launched.

Mr Olmert said the decision to invade northern Gaza had already been delayed to allow Mr Mubarak’s negotiations to continue.

The arrested Hamas legislators have been sent to security prisons and many will stand trial on terrorism offences. The detentions have hurt Hamas’s already limited ability to govern and are likely to force a regime change.

Israel claims it has intelligence about the area where Corporal Shalit is held, but has been unable to pinpoint the exact location. Mr Olmert said the military would leave the strip if he was unconditionally and safely returned.

Egypt and the neighbouring Arab states of Jordan and Lebanon fear a war between Israel and the Palestinians could lead to uprisings within their own borders, which house many Palestinian refugees.

Is this warning true? Who knows. I’m sure we will find out soon enough. But if true, I will pat them on the back. That is how you get a POW back. You don’t pussyfoot around, you take the war to them……cough Iraq cough.

They can’t help but win in this situation. If they kill Shalit, Israel kills Haniyeh. If they don’t kill Shalit but don’t give him back Israel invades the whole Gaza strip. If they give up Shalit, Israel retreats but shows Hamas that they will not lie like a dog and allow Hamas the leash.

Win/Win. Meanwhile this soldier is stuck in the middle between a terrorist state and Israel.

I’m sure this Israeli soldier is thanking his lucky stars that a leader like John Kerry wasn’t running his country.

UPDATE 07/01/06 0945HRS PST

What a joke this Hamas government has become:

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said mediation efforts by Egypt and other countries to resolve the crisis over abducted Israel Defense Forces soldier Gilad Shalit had yet to bear fruit mainly because it was unclear who in Hamas – the militants or the group’s leadership abroad – was authorized to make decisions about Shalit’s fate.

Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader, apparently has no say in the matter, according to a statement from Abbas’ office.

But hey, according the world press, the Hamas terrorist organization was becoming a legitimate governing party….now they cannot even find someone who has the authority to make decisions. A Joke I tell ya.

The is also a report that Shalit was wounded when he was taken:

Speaking at a news conference in Ramallah, Deputy Minister for Prisoner Affairs Ziad Abu Ein cited unidentified “mediators” as telling him that Shalit had been wounded during his abduction.

“He has three wounds,” Abu Ein said. “I guess shrapnel wounds.” He did not give further details.

But Abu Ein told Haaretz later Saturday that he had simply been quoting media reports and had not received any new information.

Channel 1 television, citing a senior Israeli security official, reported Friday night that a Palestinian doctor treated Shalit for minor shoulder and stomach wounds, and that the soldier was in good condition. Israel Radio said the doctor’s visit took place Thursday.
