Damn this makes me angry…..
That was a front-page headline in Friday’s Washington Times. According to Times reporter Charlie Hurt, “The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment — even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.”
This is what happened…
As the Senate continued to debate immigration reform legislation this week, Senator John Ensign offered an amendment that would have prevented illegal aliens who engaged in unlawful activity within the Social Security system from receiving benefits. The Senate effectively DEFEATED the Ensign amendment by a vote of 50-49 !
At this very moment, the U.S. Senate is poised to pass a so-called “immigration reform bill” that would give amnesty and eventual citizenship to more than 10 million illegal aliens.
During his televised address to the nation on Monday night, President Bush talked about securing the border (some of the ideas were better than others). Yet, the Senate appears to be using his words as political cover to reward more than 10 million people who are living and working in our country illegally with some of the same rights we enjoy as American citizens.
In fact, some Senators are actually hoping and praying that the President’s words will placate you and lull you into a false sense of security so they can go full steam ahead with plans to grant amnesty to over 10 million illegal aliens… under the cover of darkness… while your back is turned!
Here is how they voted.
I have no problem with legal immigrants, but illegal is another matter. Why do I feel this way?
a) Open borders are a security threat.
b) A population that takes out of the tax base but does not pay back into it destabilizes our entire tax structure.
c) A population that does not speak our language, owes its allegiance to another country, and does not want to assimilate threatens the unity of this country.
d) And finally, why would you expect a population that broke our laws by coming into this country to honor our judicial code?
