Since the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi Saudi has been offering various accounts of what happened to him. Yesterday they finally admitted that Khashoggi is dead.
Journalist Jamal Khashoggi died after a fight that took place in the Saudi consulate in Turkey, Saudi state media reported on Friday afternoon.
They announced the arrests of eighteen individuals in connection with Khashoggi’s death, many of whom were the same people caught on camera entering the consulate. Saudi officials also denied the reports that Khashoggi was dismembered, instead blaming his death on a fight that broke out in the consulate.
They say he was killed in a “fist fight.”

His murder is a terrible thing but the left wing outrage over it is very curious. Firstly, let no one doubt that Khashoggi was not a guy who loved America. He was a friend of Osama Bin Laden.

The Washington Post asserted that educating people about Khashoggi is a right wing smear
The Washington Post decries what it calls a “whispering campaign” to “smear” Jamal Khashoggi that is “designed to protect President Trump”. The “whisperers” are “hard-line Republicans and conservative commentators.” The latter are writing articles critical of Khashoggi (which means they are not whispering). The former are “privately sharing” the articles (which, I had thought, is how articles typically are shared).
But as Paul Mirengoff points out, it’s not just the left:
The Post also errs in claiming that resistance to the lionizing of Khashoggi comes exclusively from “the hard right.” My criticism (directed primarily at the Post for hiring Khashoggi) relied on reporting by the New York Times. Here is what that hard-line, Trump-protecting paper said about the Post’s man in an article called “For Khashoggi, a Tangled Mix of Royal Service and Islamist Sympathies”:.
His attraction to political Islam helped him forge a personal bond with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey. . . .
Several of his friends say that early on Mr. Khashoggi also joined the Muslim Brotherhood. Although he later stopped attending meetings of the Brotherhood, he remained conversant in its conservative, Islamist and often anti-Western rhetoric, which he could deploy or hide depending on whom he was seeking to befriend. . . .
Khashoggi probably did a decent job of hiding his anti-Western rhetoric when he sought to befriend the Washington Post. How hard he had to work at this is another question.
Khashoggi supported the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and political Islam.
In no way does this minimize the crime, but it does bring into question the motivation for all the left wing outrage. Over the last 18 years 138 Mexican journalists have been killed.

One doesn’t see left wing outrage over it.
James Foley was beheaded in 2014.
His death never saw this kind of outrage but then Trump wasn’t President.
Independent journalist Jerry Wolkowitz died five months after a racially motivated attack. I doubt you even heard about that- certainly not from the mainstream media.
Khashoggi is today’s Christine Blasey Ford. His death is no more to the left than a bludgeon being utilized to pound Donald Trump. At the moment Trump is being pressured to act, regardless of the truth- which has still not been fully revealed. Khashoggi’s death needs to be investigated and the perpetrators punished, but that’s not Trump’s obligation.
Joaquin Castro (D-TX) went off the rails riding the Kashoggi train, accusing Jared Kushner of masterminding Khashoggi’s death.
Christine Ford was thrown under the bus as soon as Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed and Khashoggi will be yesterday’s news by next week. democrats don’t really care.

The only thing the left cares about is power. They will utilize any means to gain it and pretending to care about this or that is merely one of those means.
Obama loved the Muslim Brotherhood, even insisting it be given at least 10% of the power ruling in Egypt after it was ousted by General Sisi because of it’s violence against all non MB Egyptians.
Because Obama loved the MB, his loyal media outlets did, too.
Thus the WaPo hired a MB mouthpiece (Kashoggi) as a writer.
When Kashoggi wrote about “free speech issues in Saudi Arabia he wasn’t pro-free speech as we understand that term.
He was pro-Muslim Brotherhood speech in a Wahabbi Sharia state, SA.
In Islam such talk is officially “apostasy.”
And in SA apostasy is punishable by death.
The Saudis acted in full accord with their own internal laws.
Kashoggi was on Saudi “soil” in that building.
He was thus under Saudi law.
They probably should have arrested him and dragged him to SA then executed him, but that’s not how they roll.
It’s really none of our business as long as we realize they consider kissing in public a jailable offense that might include a beating for the woman, and all of those other Wahabbi Sharia “crimes.”
When the Benghazi attack happened where Americans were murdered, the Democrats went “Ho hum, it was due to a anti-Muslim video. Nothing to see here, move on.” After all, at that point, what did it matter?
Now they are all in a twit over a non-American Mujahadeen who was a foreign national killed in a foreign embassy. Of course, we know that any outrage on the left is purely political and designed for purely political purposes.
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered about Khashoggi. Questions like how did he even gain entry into the U.S. considering his background and history? Did the newsprint that hired him not do a background check on him or was he so anti-American that he suited their needs?
Khashoggi was not a good guy. He was an Islamist and anti-American. But he wrote enough platitudes about “peace and freedom” to suit the needs of the left wing press.
The hypocrisy on the left knows no bounds.

Simple answer: he served the left’s purpose. He promoted an anti-American message. Now, his death serves the purpose of giving the left the opportunity to feign outrage and try to box Trump into a position where no matter what he does, they will protest it.
“Peace” comes after everything but Islam has been eliminated. Then we all have the “freedom” to become Muslim.

Trump is the total opposite of Obama in his Middle East philosophy. Obama backed the Muslim Brotherhood (most obviously in his foreign policy toward Egypt) and back Iran’s Muslim Brotherhood control. OTOH, Trump, and his supporters consider the MB for what it is, a terrorist organization.
