The Gift That Keeps On Giving: NOW President Claims Stay At Home Moms Lack ‘Life Experience’ & “Imagination’

By 47 Comments 1,365 views

Why do Democrats hate Mothers?

The Democrats continue to give us gifts. Here is NOW President Terry O’Neill on Ann Romney:

TERRY O’NEILL: What would we be saying if Hillary Clinton had said this: that Ann Romney has never, has not worked for pay outside the home a day in her life? That’s my understanding that’s an accurate statement, and that raises the exact issue that Hilary Rosen was trying to get to, which is do Mr. & Mrs. Romney have the kind of life experience and if not, the imagination, to really understand what most American families are going through right now? I think that that was what Hilary was getting out, and so she left out the words “for pay outside the home.”

Lack life experience and imagination because they raised their children? Are you freaking kidding me?

That’s your modern day feminist I suppose. Why support woman in all walks of life when you can marginalize and demean some (stay at home Moms) while support those who choose to leave the kids with babysitters. Btw, do babysitters get the support of the Democrats now because they earn a salary while watching other people’s kids?

Is this not a REAL war on women we are seeing here?

Curt served in the Marine Corps for four years and has been a law enforcement officer in Los Angeles for the last 24 years.

    Two total ding dongs shouldn’t all women stick together instead of knocking them….You think they would have learned when they went against their own Hillary Clinton we could have had the first woman president but they are so hateful……I think they sent Hillary out there for Obama and it backfired….

  2. 2

    The idea here is to get (i.e. force – through economic / peer / guilt trip means) people to send their kids to state run daycare — while still in diapers — never forget HRC’s ‘village’ — you too can have your kid turned into an official, state approved VILLAGE IDIOT.

    Liberal1 (objectivity)

    The Right has blown this whole situation out of proportion since they have only listened to the sound bites, and not the complete statement. Hillary Rosen was simply saying that it is not legitimate to depend upon the insights of his wife—who has never worked a day in her life—to advise him about the circumstances of the majority of American women who both work and raise children (without five housekeepers).

  4. 6

    what a bunch of wack-a-doos. I guess barry can kiss whatever woman vote he was trying to conjure. These comments against stay at home moms are so stupid, I can’t even respond.

  5. 7

    Fed Up

    @Liberal1 (objectivity): Yet we are suppose to listen to Michele “Sasquatch” Obama for nutrition advice?
    Last time I looked her caboose was as wide as a axe handle. When ever we learn what she is really eating it’s burgers and fries. The right has only listened to sound bites, yet you’ve only bothered to listen to a sound bite of M.R. saying he turns to his wife for some advice. He turns to many people for advice, men and women experts. You’re and idiot.

    @Liberal1 (objectivity):

    Are you saying that women who have only stayed home and raised children, and not worked a “real job”, are second class citizens and deserve no recognition of thought, because they haven’t worked? I’m sure that will go over real well with voters.

  7. 9

    @Liberal1 (objectivity): As compared to being not legitimate to expect Rosin to understand even slightly. No, Rosin brought it all down on herself and has earned derision. Now that the NOW gang has chimed in with stupidity it just goes on the record as Stupidity on the part of Leading D partisans. We understand your pain.

    @Liberal1 (objectivity):

    Hillary Rosen in 2008;

    “You know essentially, you’ve taken on sort of the most sympathetic person in the candidate’s realm, the wife, who is taking care of the children, supporting the husband, doing everything she can because she loves him,” Rosen said on Anderson Cooper 360 according to a CNN transcript from May 19, 2008.

    Barack Obama in 2008;

    “But I do want to say this to the GOP. If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable,” he said.

    What is one to think, Lib1, except that the liberal/progressives are hypocrites, again.

    But go ahead. By all means, go ahead. Whatever “bump” Obama enjoyed due to his “war on women” theme will be erased if his campaign speaks as you do, that stay-at-home moms are some kind of second-class citizens that don’t deserve to be an influential part of their husband’s life.

    #3 Liberal1: What would you know about what it takes to live “in the real world”? Liberals live in loony la-la-land and obviously you & your fellow loons don’t have the wherewithal to actually KNOW what it is like in the real world. I both worked for over 30 years (at what you people term “a real job”) and had kids. I was also the one that keep the bank accounts, paid all the bills, made all the major and minor purchases and if that isn’t dealing with economics, I don’t know what is. Grow up, lib1 and come join the rest of us (non)-women in the real world and quit prostrating yourself about things you know not a whit.

  10. 12

    Why are these women so bitter? Is it possible that their conscience or what they have in place of one is gnawing at their insides. I mean just how many back babies can you kill with impunity? Oh a note to Debbie W. Schultz, nice try on the makeover, you’re sill a prog. You have to change from the inside..

    Some excellent comments from the blog world:

    From Powerline;

    “So if Ann Romney can’t comment on the economy because, “she never worked a day in her life,” then Barack Obama can’t comment on job creation because he never created a job in his life!”

    From Iowahawk, in a tweet;

    Ann Romney was only a lowly housewife. @hilaryr worked tirelessly to throw your kids in prison for downloading Justin Bieber cds

    All I have to say is, considering that Obama has created millions of ‘stay-at-home’ moms, not to mention ‘stay-at-home’ dads and ‘move-back-home’ kids, Ann Romney is probably the perfect person to discuss women’s issues.

  12. 14

    Nan G

    Turns out Hillary Rosen works for Anita (Mao Tse) Dunn at that PR company that foisted Fluke on all of us.
    May even be that Rosen was the one who got Fluke ready for her close-up.
    And Obama HAD to know.

  13. 15

    You can extend this kind of biased, patronizing “what do they know about” thinking into all areas…

    ‘What do people who don’t end up paying Federal taxes, know about taxation? By extension of the O’neil & Rosen’s DNC argument, such people should not be listened to on issues of taxation.’

    What do people without children know about raising them? (Continuing this narrow mindset,) Only those who have parented a child should have input in childcare.

    ‘What do people who have not served in the military know about military service? (by extension) Such people’s opinions should never be considered in situations that affect military members.’

    ‘What do people who have never worked in business know about matters that concern business or capitalism? (Snobbish solution) Such people should be ignored in regards to the regulation of business.’

    ‘What do people who are not of (pick a racial heritage) know about being of that race? Therefore any decisions that affect (said race) should not be made by those not of that race.’

    With this kind of “experts only!” narrow-minded thinking, those who may be considered as an “outsider” or “non-professional individuals.” Why, their opinions are always worthless in areas outside their area of “expertise”. By such extension, no one would or could qualify for serving in elected government office. It is ridiculous to assume that, even if one is not directly involved in a particular group or issue, that they are incapable of providing solutions or in making decisions in regards to situations that effect such groups or issues. Such a “members only” way of thinking is simply more segregation-based diversionary political nonsense.

  14. 16

    Hard Right

    Yesterday liberal#2 said he was watching rightwing fascism taking over the country. Folks, if that doesn’t tell you he fired his brains on drugs and should be ignored, I don’t know what will.

    I’ve seen “feminists” derisively call mothers “breeders”. The claim that liberal women are pro-women is a lie. They are pro-liberal women ONLY.

    Silly me. I thought feminism was supporting all women and allowing them the choices they desired and deserved. Clearly I was wrong.

    Of the three of them, it is had to tell which one is dumb, Which one is dumber, or which one is dumbest. I have never scene the likes of the “Three Blind Mice” of the “Blind Leading the Blind” (sorry, no disrespect intended Helen).

    Nan G

    Ann Romney had 5 children between the time she was 21 and 32.
    So, she had little children under the age of 5 at home until 1986.
    By 1998 she was finally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which, if my own family experiences with it are any indication, can go for years before a doctor finally does get the right diagnosis.
    Many people with that disease are unable to work, yet Ann Romney did work.
    Her husband was gov in Mass in 2003.
    She lobbied for MS, against teen pregnancy, for ethical stem cell research, helped various charities, and had an unpaid position in Mass trying to get more help for faith-based initiatives.
    She also directed a charity called Best Friends which helps inner city kids.
    In 2005 her MS got real bad.
    In 2008 she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
    So far, her survival has been a cancer-free one, but it takes 7 years cancer-free to be declared cured of one’s cancer.
    No wonder Hilary Rosen (Hilary BETH Rosen who visited the White House 35 times using her middle initial) wants to ”move on,” nothing to see here….out of the old dem playbook.

    BTW. . .

    The Gift That Keeps On Giving: NOW President Claims Stay At Home Moms Lack ‘Life Experience’ & “Imagination’

    I’m curious exactly when it was that the President ever said anything even remotely suggesting that he might feel that way.

  18. 27

    So taking care of our most precious gift, children, shows a lack oh imagination.

    Hey, sweetie, get a grip. Glad you were not my mother

    Bringing up kids was the most exhausting thing I ever did

    My husband died when I was 43 and I gave up 20 years of my life to them. I worked full time, ran car pools, fed and clothed them.

    The women I admire ,st are those willing to sacrifice a salary for their kids. Not every woman is a doctor, lawyer, etc.

  19. 28

    I’m curious exactly when it was that the President ever said anything even remotely suggesting that he might feel that way.

    You should know better than to issue a challenge like that, Greg. Why, it took me all of about 30 seconds to find Obama doubling down on the liberal idea of ‘stay at home moms’.

    Obama, from last Friday;

    “Once I was in the state legislature, I was teaching, I was practicing law, I’d be traveling,” he said. “And we didn’t have the luxury for her not to work.

    How else can one interpret that but to assume that Obama feels being a “stay at home mom” is easy?

  20. 29

    @Randy, #26:

    But lefty, we should re-elect a president who had no life experiences outside of being a community organizer?

    At this point his résumé includes being President of the United States for over three years, and currently holding that position.

    What has Mitt been up to? Is that Bain Capital, or Bane Capital?

    One writer has concisely characterized their approach to business as follows:

    “Bain’s modus operandi was to invest in companies, leverage them up with debt, and then sell them off for scrap, allowing Bain’s investors to walk away with huge profits while the companies in which Bain invested wound up in bankruptcy, laying off workers and reneging on benefits.”

    Garofalo backs that up by citing a comprehensive assessment of Bain Capital done by the Wall Street Journal.

    This is the guy we want running the country?

  21. 30

    Common Sense

    @Greg: Let’s review, yes 0-bama has been President for just over three years. Sadly he has failed miserably and essentially ruined our country. Zero accomplishments. Romney on the other hand did his job successfully. You are always quick to find fault but then again you have proven yourself a wacho liberal with no clue so I will consider the source and move on.

  22. 31

    @johngalt, #28:

    How else? I can’t imagine how anyone could extract such an improbable meaning out of those two sentences to begin with.

    James Raider

    OK, these idiots really require a response.

    I’m the product of a Mom who stayed home to raise her kids, although through the years she helped my Dad with bookkeeping and paperwork of his business. I’ve built companies from scratch and have financed entrepreneurs. Soooo, . . ..

    IMAGINATION? . . . I can unequivocally state that my ‘stay at home Mom’ stimulated my thinking to reach beyond the boundaries of the obvious.

    LIFE EXPERIENCE? . . . . Her insights into human nature provided me invaluable examples and guidelines which could be positively applied in the capitalist world I chose for myself.

    . . . Where do these people, O’Neil & Waters, come from – with so little understanding of anything much, and Nothing at all of human nature?

  24. 35

    Nan G

    Think reverse dog psychology.
    Obama knows he wasn’t vetted before the 2008 election.
    He doesn’t want to be vetted now, either.
    Michelle, he pointed out just a day before Hilary Rosen’s nasty comments, HAD to work.

    What he does NOT want you to find out is 1.what Michelle did or much she got paid or especially 3.what happened to her position at the hospital after she quit.

    1.Michelle directed poor sick &/OR injured people in Chicago how to get the bus to take them to other medical care.
    2.She got paid $317,000 a year.
    3.Her job appeared out of nowhere when she needed it and disappeared completely after she quit.

    This is what Obama wants off limits.
    This is why he USED Hilary Rosen to make a personal dig against Ann Romney.
    Method to his madness.
    Will it work?

  25. 36

    Nan G

    Hilary Rosen, was hired by DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to coach her on media appearances.

    Obama advisers told Wasserman Schultz to “tone it down,” suggesting that they hire “two seasoned Democratic female pros, Anita Dunn and Hilary Rosen,” for media training, in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

    Wasserman Schultz willingly accepted.

    Today, Patrick Gaspard, executive director of the Democratic National Committee sought to distance the party from Rosen’s comments.
    “Hillary Rosen is absolutely not a paid adviser to the DNC or to the Obama campaign.”

    But Republicans at the Republican National Committee, have already pulled data on payments made by the DNC to Rosen.

    “DNC has paid $120,000 to Rosen’s firm since 2011 for both a “communications consultant” and “media consultant,” tweeted Joe Pounder, the director at the RNC, “Sounds like [Anita] Dunn and [Hilary] Rosen.”

  26. 37

    First, I think President Obama said in an interview that he found the comments unacceptable and thought candidates families should be off limits. Whether he was sincere or not is between him and God. His rhetoric on the subject of the “GOP’s War on Women” has certainly fanned the flames. She visited the White House 35 times and met with the President personally 5 times.
    Now, as for this:

    What has Mitt been up to? Is that Bain Capital, or Bane Capital?
    One writer has concisely characterized their approach to business as follows:

    Gingrich said the same thing. Fact Check has already slapped this down. You must not have gotten the memo.

  27. 38

    @Aqua, #37:

    I have little interest in Newt’s 28-minute attack ad. What I found interesting was the Wall Street Journal’s study of 77 businesses that Bain invested in during Romney’s tenure. FactCheck has lumped the attack ad and the study together, effectively taking a shot at two birds with one stone. Were the Journal’s original conclusions actually shown by any evidence to be inaccurate?

    Note how the tune has changed, now that Romney is the GOP’s apparent candidate. Before, the conclusion was that Bain was preying on weakened businesses with an eye on the loot that could be offloaded before the ship sank, occasionally knocking a few holes in the hulls to hurry things along; now the Journal is suggesting that “Bain Capital Saved America”.

  28. 39

    Mr. Irons

    Sadly Greg you do not understand why a firm like Bain took up so called, “weakened” businesses. To an outsider like you, sure it might look like the strong on the prey. But in reality it’s all about asset control and liquidation of businesses that would have gone total face down in the dirt with their product and business materials being canablized by other rival firms. Bain’s actions grants what parts of the Conglomerate to restructure or to re-sell its materials so it can exit the industry. Bain operates much like Textron or Raytheon, who purchases and then sells various Businesses and this has been going on since the 1600’s. It is nothing new and trying to make Romney look evil over Bain is kinda funny on your part considering the Green Energy scandals and gross misspendings from the Current President’s Admin totalling a Trillion in wasted dollars on companies lik Solyndra and Sun Solar.

    Businesses that Bain dealt with knew what Bain was, and was either wanting to restructure or to fold out of the market on purpose. Bain did not lie on who or what the Firm was to its business clients. There are many reasons why Businesses want to withdrawl from the sector being it from investment issues to flat out fatigue of dealing in a competition rich market. DTYDirect is an example of an investment shortage into a business and relying on a firm similar to Bain to liquidate and auction off its retail assets to repay loaners by using the parent firm’s capital to buffer from collectors. Bain’s status and materials gives a buffer to businesses either restucturing or going though legal withdrawl from the markets, it is not an evil “Must Kill rivals” operation contrary to how LIberals see it.

  29. 40

    Note how the tune has changed, now that Romney is the GOP’s apparent candidate.

    I wasn’t a Romney fan before, I’m not a Romney fan now. The so-called “conservatives” that attacked his tenure at Bain were idiots and some of them are walking it back. It should be noted that a vast majority started walking it back as soon as the outcry from real conservatives over attacking free markets was heard.
    Bain had some very good successes under Romney’s tenure, including Staples and Sports Authority. Given the failure rate of businesses in general, sometimes they just cannot be saved. If you really read the WSJ, you know that there are some big name businesses getting ready to go under. Radio Shack, Zales, Borders, Blockbuster, and the list goes on. Company’s like Bain come in and try to restructure or facilitate mergers. Will some jobs be lost? Yeah, but even more would be lost if they just go out of business. And some of them will. They will just be liquidated. It is a fact of life. If you work at those stores, it sux. If you’re a stockholder, it sux just as much if not more.
    Businesses don’t stay open to lose money.

    ” which is do Mr. & Mrs. Romney have the kind of life experience and if not, the imagination, to really understand what most American families are going through right now?”

    Without ‘imagination’ [but in reality] the Romney’s probably know more of what American Families are going through right now, and for the last 3 years!! And, I would say more so then ANYONE in the bubble called Washington D.C.

    This woman is an idiot in a bubble.

    And then we have the two in the biggest bubble… Barry and Moochelle … these two are either on destroy America mode, Campaign mode, or where will we go on vacation on the taxpayer mode….Sheesh!

  32. 44

    Mitt Romney’s flip-flop on stay-at-home moms: Will it matter?

    “While I was [Massachusetts] governor, 85 percent of the people on a form of welfare assistance in my state had no work requirement. And I wanted to increase the work requirement. I said, for instance, that even if you have a child 2 years of age, you need to go to work. And people said, well that’s heartless. And I said no, no, I’m willing to spend more giving day care to allow those parents to go back to work. It will cost the state more, providing that day care. But I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.”

  33. 45

    Nan G

    Dems are doubling down on their idiotic war on women:
    Ciara Matthews, Walker’s communications director, is under fire for being both pro-life and a former Hooters restaurant waitress.

    “Profitting (sic) from selling a plasticized form of unnatural sexiness designed to arouse men while simultaneously believing that women should be forced to face the ‘consequences’ of actually giving into to their sexual desires is a pretty backward way of thinking,”

    the Jezebel’s Erin Gloria Ryan said.

    Jezebel failed to make a compelling charge of hypocrisy against the conservative woman, but seemed very interested in using her sexuality to embarrass her.
    You can’t do anything liberals can do UNLESS your thinking agrees 100% with theirs.
    Who are the Stepford Wives now?

    When Rush Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a “slut,” Jezebel rejected his apology while denouncing his “paroxysm of misogyny.”
    The Jezebel decision now to go after Matthews over a Hooters job she worked as a college student — rather than anything she has actually thought or said, no matter how embarrassing — suggests that these writers only respect the women who think like Jezebel.

  34. 46

    @Common Sense: I don’t know about liberals, but this quote gives you an idea on how out of touch this woman is with normal people!!
    “I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids. Thank goodness that we value those people too. And sometimes life isn’t easy for any of us”
    I think that Daily Kos’s Kaili Joy Gray said it best when she said, “There’s nothing wrong with being rich. But there’s something very wrong with being so oblivious to your own privilege and all the choices it has afforded you that your response to your fellow Americans who don’t enjoy such privilege and don’t have the same opportunities is to tell them how much you ‘love’ their struggles and hey, you’ve struggled too, so you can totally relate.”
    Adversity may not discriminate — but poverty does. That is to say that poor people’s struggle is uniquely the struggle to those who are poor. Poor people work all their lives to make ends meet and oftentimes the ends never meet. Poor people work hard — a lot harder than I work, doing work I would never even consider doing — and most will never be anything other than poor.
    Fewer than one percent of Americans break out of the class they were born into. The rest of us work to get by, all the while dreaming the increasingly unlikely American dream. This year, I’ll make just under what I made my first year of college — which is still more money than my mom made when we were growing up, working as a secretary at a racetrack and taking overtime as often as possible.
    Ann Romney cannot relate to mine or my mother’s struggle, and that’s okay– but don’t insult us by pretending you do.
