2012 Poll Watch – National GOP Polls

First up on deck, the Rasmussen poll taken between May 9th and the 15th with a sample of 3,500 likely voters:

“In thinking about the 2012 Presidential Election suppose you had a choice between a Republican candidate and Democrat Barack Obama. If the election were held today would you vote for the Republican candidate or Democrat Barack Obama?”

  • Republican Candidate 45%
  • Barack Obama 43%

Liberal attempts to abolish Electoral College takes back door route thru State Legislatures

Just as every Christmas brings the same tired argument over nativity scenes, Christmas trees and Santa Claus, every election cycle brings forth a fresh attempt to ignore the Constitutional establishment of the Electoral College, and allow the city centers to run roughshod over rural Americans. The 2012 election is no different, but it does bring a fresh approach to the age old problem of a “popular vote” Presidential election… by having the state legislators pass a law, obligating their EC votes to the national popular vote winners.

In an interview on Meet the Depressed, David Gregory accused Newt Gingrich of using coded racist language in criticizing Barack Obama:

DAVID GREGORY, HOST: What, what about jobs? Jobless rate now at 9 percent. You gave a speech on Friday in Georgia, and you said the following about this president:

NEWT GINGRICH: You want to be a country that creates food stamps, in which case frankly Obama’s is an enormous success. The most successful food stamp president in American history. Or do you want to be a country that creates paychecks?
