I’ve Had Enough! [Reader Post]

Loading

I have been a law-abiding citizen all my life. I’ve always played by the rules. That is about to change. The early morning passage of the Senate health care bill on Thursday requires every American to purchase health insurance. I refuse. I will not abide by this bill if it is passed into law. And if the government levies a fine, I will not pay it. I’ve had enough.

There comes a time when a line in the sand must be drawn. I’ve just drawn mine. I’ve listened to the outright lies our politicians have spouted in order to pass this legislation, which, by the way, has nothing to do with health care and everything to do with government control.

Democrats declared this bill was deficit neutral. Not so, says the Congressional Budget Office. Alas, this wasn’t reported until minutes after the bill passed the Senate

Dems say this bill will allow an additional 30 million people to be covered while not affecting prices. Helloo….this goes contrary to the very basic law of supply and demand.

I’ve had enough of the back door deals, the outright bribes, the lies, the rush, and the absolute arrogance of our elected officials who patronizingly tell me with a straight face that black is white and if I questions their wisdom, why I must be a loony tea-bagger who doesn’t believe in the rule of gravity. Enough!!

I know the rule of law is essential to the health of a society and this sometimes requires a small loss of individual freedom for the greater good. We have a system of government now, however, that is imposing two different sets of rules. One set for Americans who pay the freight, and another system for government and union officials, politicians and rent seekers. When a country has two rules of law, it essentially has no rule of law.

Since our much vaunted ‘free press’ hasn’t deigned to inform Americans about the basics involved in this health care bill, I’ll touch on a couple goodies you might not be aware of:

First, the bill  declares that certain sections of it can’t be repealed by future Congresses. Meaning we the people will no longer be able to vote or amend it. This is rule by fiat.

Secondly, this bill will impose a mandatory, Mandatory, fee of app. $15,000 on many families. That’s a cool 15K you’ll have to take out of your budget if you’re not covered by employer health insurance. And its just too bad if you don’t have a job.

I could go on… suffice to say, this American knows there is absolutely nothing in the Constitution that allows the federal government to force me to purchase something I don’t want, need or agree with. Call me uncompassionate, but as a matter of principle, I refuse to pay for some-else’s abortion, botox treatment or transgender surgery. And I refuse to let the government impose an unconstitutional mandate on me.

I refuse on the grounds that I am an American who has the right to decide what is best for myself and my family. I will not be coerced by posturing, rent seeking politicos who are misusing the powers we the people granted them.  Enough!

I’m tired of being patronized by moral hucksters who pander to the lowest among us as they use my money to buy votes from deadbeats. I’m tired of being lied to. I’m tired of having my voice ignored. I’m tired of having my money used to support causes with which I disagree. I’ve had enough.

This is my line in the sand. I vow I will not allow one cent of my hard earned money to be used to further this socialist redistribution scheme. I refuse to participate. I will not be forced to pay for anything to do with this fraudulent bill. And I refuse to pay any fines that might be imposed. And taking a cue from the Democrats, I officially declare this debate over.

You are right on the money. These creatures in D.C. think we are some Marxist country already. No amount of media control and bias can convince me of any good intentions. It is time we all stand up and say enough. I have this bad feeling that they will keep pushing and will try to use any ‘crisis’ coming up to their advantage. Well this isn’t Iran and we can handle any out of control government that decides to destroy our Constitution. Reminds me of that site I saw on Free Republic . I forgot the name but if you google ‘2011 Obama’s Coup Fails’ it describes what happens next and it is all in a game. Enough to scar every American as it lists all of the Czars and shows them all on video. There is a reason that Obama doesn’t want them interviewed, they are all Marxists. Real ones who love Chavez, Mao and say so on video.
All i have to tell you is exercise your Constitutional right to bear arms and never give that right up for any government. If you hear of gun confiscations anywhere, well I think you will know what to do in order to save freedom and our nation.

WORD.

We’re already living under communism/socialism and have been for quite some time. It’s just that you’ve finally become aware of the fact that the govt. is subverted by globalists who want one world govt.

It baffles me how anybody can enter into the armed services and defend this govt. It’s beyond comprehension. They’ve been trying to destroy the USA for decades!

If all else fails, this may be the way to defeat it. Mass resistance. They can’t throw 500,000 people in jail.

And, let’s not forget jury nullification. In the end, this is what killed prohibition. Juries were beginning to simply not convict defendants, regardless of the evidence. The government took the hint….

I couldn’t have written it better myself. The country over is waking up, and I hope it is soon enough to end what is sure to become a tyranical reign of idiocy.

I’m all in on that.

Agreed. The two Michigan Senators are both f’n commies, as are most of the the Representatives. These Marxists must GO NOW, by whatever means necessary. So yeah, let’s start by rebelling against these unconstitutional laws and go from there. As someone else said, they can’t put us all in jail. A central theme of “Atlas Shrugged” focuses on not giving the looters “legitimacy” by following their destructive policies. Message to Obama…go F up another country somewhere, and take your asshole cronies with you.

Watching Washington as an ordinary citizen, I wonder what exactly do they think they are doing. This entire health care bill makes no sense and is basically useless. It is useless in that there is nothing being solved. It is germinating a 1000 new disasters. This bill is adding nothing of any value for anyone. The people in Washington are fooling no one from the start.

It would appear that in their greed for power, they look more and more incompetent and cannot deliver on anything. As a matter of fact from this point forward whatever they promise will end up being the opposite and their failures will be greater and greater.

One simply has to step aside and watch the incineration of the democrats. In the end , I get the impression that this will be a phyrric victory and the triad Obama-Pelosi-Reid will be soon forgotten into oblivion.

Certainly the spunk and intent is admired, Nancy. Alas this is tied to the IRS, and they did that deliberately. Stomping your foot and saying “no” has larger repercussions. You know, those “voluntary” taxes? right….

Don’t pay your tax revenues? Your assets get levied and judgments get filed. You lose even bigger with the loss of your home, garnishment of wages and seizure of cars, etal. If you decide you want to pay later, there’s late fees and additional penalties and interest, and that $1500 or so you owed is now multiplied into an outrageous figure they will be oh so pleased to collect.

Then, of course, there’s Pelosi’s treasured “jail” time for those who don’t want to pay. But hey, it may be the only way to have a roof over your head and three squares after risking your home and assets… living in Pelosi’s health care criminal prisons.

Why do you think they have such a large revenue income for “penalties” budgeted in this bill’s “savings”? They are counting on people like you to up what you owe them out of principle. They know the nation, as one, will not buck the system.

According to some Constitutional scholars, the healthcare bill’s individual mandate to purchase insurance is unconstitutional http://www.heritage.org/Research/LegalIssues/lm0049.cfm

The basic argument:

The Commerce Clause. Advocates of the individual mandate have claimed that the Supreme Court’s Commerce Clause jurisprudence leaves “no doubt” that the insurance requirement is a constitutional exercise of that power. They are wrong.

Although the Supreme Court has upheld some far-reaching regulations of economic activity, most notably in Wickard v. Filburn and Gonzales v. Raich, neither case supports the individual health insurance mandate. In these cases, the Court held that Congress’s power to regulate the interstate commerce in a fungible good–for example, wheat or marijuana–as part of a comprehensive regulatory scheme included the power to regulate or prohibit the intrastate possession and production of this good. In both cases, Congress was allowed to reach intrastate economic activity as a means to the regulation of interstate commerce in goods.

Yet, the mandate to purchase health insurance is not proposed as a means to the regulation of interstate commerce; nor does it regulate or prohibit activity in either the health insurance or health care industry. Indeed, the health care mandate does not purport to regulate or prohibit activity of any kind, whether economic or noneconomic. By its own plain terms, the individual mandate provision regulates no action. To the contrary, it purports to “regulate” inactivity by converting the inactivity of not buying insurance into commercial activity.

As I pointed out in my post on the lawsuit challenges being prepared, CBDenver there are many already waiting to pounce upon any enactment of this fiscal train wreck. In the interim, more than a few State AG’s offices are preparing opinions… certainly not as valuable as a court decisions, but a start.

Sometimes a quote can be very poweful

“Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us that they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy “accommodation.” And they say if we only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he will forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer–not an easy answer–but simple.

If you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based upon what we know in our hearts is morally right. We cannot buy our security, our freedom from the threat of the bomb by committing an immorality so great as saying to a billion now in slavery behind the Iron Curtain, “Give up your dreams of freedom because to save our own skin, we are willing to make a deal with your slave masters.” Alexander Hamilton said, “A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.” Let’s set the record straight. There is no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there is only one guaranteed way you can have peace–and you can have it in the next second–surrender. ~ Ronald

By giving the gov’t control over our very health, we give them control of our “quality of life” decisions. From there its just down hill. Return to the 30s, ppl like my grandmother who were like “trust the govt” “let them lead us” and they had no control. I fully dont expect another baby boomer generation type to come and fight back. This is it kiddies… we dont fight this shit back now, we never will. Eventually this will lead to the U.S. joining the European Union or worse yet moody turning us into a 3rd world nation by not awarding us triple A rating.

Dark times my brothers, dark times.

The real question though, do we go quietly into that dark good night?

i agree at least we have insurance through my husbands union job. not that it has doen s any good. he was making 46k a year and now cant clear 3o0k. i on the hand am making more money than ever…tell me how. seriously messed up.

After 20 years of active duty, I got medical for $230/year and dental for $575. I got mine, Jack, the rest of you can pay whatever the current healthcare system is charging.

It’s going to take some real determination to turn this around. Probably a lot of blood. sweat and tears as well. The real question is, do we have the brass to do it? How much are we willing to risk? Incarceration, poverty, homelessness? The government doesn’t want people rocking their little boat and is quite willing to exercise control in the harshest terms.

Where do I sign?

Great post Nancy and I share your sentiments. I appended a snippet of your post to Secede at the Asheville Tea Party blog.

You don’t go far enough in your rebellion: Death To The Tyrants!

I have always paid my own way. My insurance runs out on Dec 31st and I had thought to pick up a high deductible plan for the next few years. Now, I’ll just let it go. I don’t mind that some want to live forever. I just don’t like paying for their attempt. If they want to “give” me health care they can do it in jail.

I’m mad as hell too but the only real smart way to undo this is to make every detail of this POS public and make the Republican platform to REPEAL it in 2011. I know there are some who think that the R’s can’t muster enough to repeal this abomination but if we scream about the ills and the outright bribery in it, we can sure make it close. It will also send a message to the ONE that we are not going to sit still for his Marxist crap any longer. Folks, we have to step up and in our safe secure world, made possible by the men and women in uniform, get off our collective butts and fight these people. When you don’t think you can muster enough anger to be effective just pause and picture Shumer, Durbin, Reid, Baucus, Landreiu, Franken, Spector and Boxer or any of the other self serving greedy bastards and you will find the anger! Be proactive and don’t just wait until Nov. Send money or volunteer your time to your local party, Tea or Republican.

Having studied the histories of China, Germany, Poland, Cambodia, the U.S.S.R., and the Ukraine, I would have to respectfully, and completely, disagree.

Governments can, and have, done worse, all for the good of the State. We now have a government in place in the United States that is composed of people who variously idolize the likes of Mao Tse Tung, whose government slaughtered more than seventy million of its citizens. They call him a great man, a great philosopher.

Be very careful when you say “They can’t do X”, no matter how heinous “X” may be. They have, and they can – and if this experiment in foisting communism and socialism on an unwilling population continues, we’ll see that the results are not only the same as the results from all the other times in human history when this experiment has been tried, but even worse, given that our level of technology is, in 2009, far higher and more efficient than it was in those previous slaughters I mentioned.

Obama and Company might see Mao, Stalin, and, yes, screw Godwin (and all who would use his damned name in debate) with a big rubber ****, Hitler, and say to themselves, “WE CAN DO BETTER” Citius, altius, fortius, and all that.

You need to spend less time on those histories and more on ours. None of those countries had 90,000,000+ gun owners, most well-trained from the military service, many who can engage a target at >300 meters…

As the man said, “Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.”

Good luck with that plan.
From my understanding the proposed way the government gets your payment for the insurance they require you to buy is that this bill gives them access to your banking accounts. If you fail to pay then the amount is automatically deducted from your account. As is the fine. If that fails they will garnish your wages. So, unless you live entirely in an underground secret economy and keep no identifiable records the US government will confiscate what they wish.

The only time Government is legaly allowed to a private bank account assests is if the subject in question is possibly violating a Federal offense. And that power is only to freeze the assets, not the power to withdraw. Section 163 of the Congress verison of this bloated nightmare violates current banking laws already in effect that prevent Federal Government branches from even remotely taking a dime out of a bank account without Account user consent (aka the user sending a check for IRS payments). Then again I guess if you don’t buy what is in essence a forced Government Monopoly then you’ll be a Federal Law violator and could see everything from your bank accounts/credit union accounts, home, cars, future destroyed within the same year you get hauled to prison. There is a reason Van Jones called for the use of a Gulag Economy, and people jailed for Healthcare violations would make for a great population boom to cheap Gulag labor. The Soviet Union’s bulk labor force was Gulag labor, and our White House Czars want just that. We’re already seeing that happening with Green Technologies with legit workers being laid off and the company resulting to Prisoner labor in reguards to policies that Van Jones sat forth before leaving.

Section 163, if it survives the final form of the bill, will lead to massive fraud and scandals and millions of people penny-less. It is disturbing how many people in American today willingly embrace the very policies that caused the collapse of the Soviet Union and the untold suffering of millions of Russians.

@checkers, source on what you say, please? Heinous as this bill is, I’m quite sure they wouldn’t be so obviously stupid as to build in “auto pay” from individual bank accounts. Too easy to bust…

The last legislation I saw is this is run thru the IRS. You will declare and prove as part of your tax return… and you will pay the penalty if you do not as part of your tax return. That gives you about a year’s grace until your mortgage lender (assuming you have one) starts placing their own demands on your payment for being in the arrears to the IRS.

He is making reference, MataHarley, to Section 163 of the Healthcare bill that passed the Congress which grants the IRS instant automatic withdraw services on any banking account at any time.

Thanks for clarifying that, @Mr. Irons So many bills, and so much left over information.

The section 163 checker was speaking of was in the summer bill – HR 3200. However the bill that passed was HR 3962, and there are none of those changes to the IRC in that bill.

Granted, it’s a 1900 page monstrosity, and perhaps I’ve missed it. Anyone may feel free to backcheck my searches and point out any such infringment into personal or business bank accounts. But my various searches in the proper sections reveals no changes to IRC code that allows such access for “auto pay”. Mr. Irons in #25 is correct that any such mandate wouldn’t see the light of day outside a courtroom.

They are, if I remember rightly (but who’s seen a “final” bill….) still mandating insurance status get reported via the IRS. And that is the tie that “binds”. I’m wondering if even that method of reporting is Constitutional.

Below is a letter sent by Indianapolis anesthesiologist, Dr. Stephen E. Frazer, to Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN):
Senator Bayh,
As a practicing physician I have major concerns with the health care bill before Congress. I actually have read the bill and am shocked by the brazenness of the government’s proposed involvement in the patient-physician relationship. The very idea that the government will dictate and ration patient care is DANGEROUS and certainly not helpful in designing a health care system that works for all.

Every physician I work with agrees that we need to fix our health care system, but the proposed bills currently making their way through congress WILL BE A DISASTER IF PASSED.
I ask you respectfully and as a patriotic American to look at the following troubling lines that I have read in the bill.
You cannot possibly believe that these proposals are in the best interests of the country and our fellow citizens… READ THESE CAREFULLY AND JUST IMAGINE WHAT COULD RESULT ………..

Senator, I guarantee that I personally will do everything possible to inform patients and my fellow physicians about the dangers of the proposed bills you and your colleagues are debating.
Furthermore, if you vote for a bill that enforces socialized medicine on the country and destroys the doctor-patient relationship, I will do everything in my power to make sure you lose your job in the next election.
Respectfully,

Stephen E. Fraser, MD
Dear Reader, I urge you to use the power that you were born with (and the power that may soon be taken away) and circulate this letter to as many people as you can reach. The “Power of the People” can stop this from happening to us, our parents, our grandparents, our children, and to following generations.

If this goes through, the legislation will undoubtedly result in Democrats providing a killing blow to their own party’s electoral support. The reason many people don’t have health insurance is because they can not afford it. This bill will NOT make it more affordable for people who are barely making ends meet. Nor will these families be able to afford to pay the fines for “not having health insurance.” And it wont do anything at all to improve healthcare int the four years before it actually starts. At the same time, this bill will raise taxes and the cost of living with out doing a damn thing to bring down the costs of health care.

The 2010 elections will go poorly for Dems, and as I expect Obama and the remaining Dems will continue this current path, 2012 will go worse. The following years, this “health care plan” will go into action and make getting medical treatment a true nightmare. At that point, the Democratic party will be dumped by voters because “the Dems own this” (and woe to them even more if their party succeds in getting “cap and trade” passed. It may not be a landslide for Republicans either, as I think that will be the point when third parties will really take off, but I think Republicans will get a definate boost.
