This reminds me of FDR, at the height of the depression, having snowball fights in the white house with his kids in the middle of Summer while people were starving to death in the streets. He had snow making machines brought in to create the snow used thus wasting money on frivolous events. He was clueless as to what was happening outside of his life of leisure, seems to be a trend with Dems.

Mike, since they were able to snag the Indians, call it a State dinner and then invite all their big campaign contributers, won’t we have to pay for all of it? Just like paying for AirForce One where he flies into a town for an official stop and presto, there just happens to be a fundraisor in that very same town. I know they all campaign like that, but the dinner was a bit over the top.
Bit of trivia for today:
Madame M’s dress alone employed over 40 seamstresses for the beadwork, she used an Indian American designer, but the designer had Indian Indians do the stitching.
Then I also see Madame M has farmed the work for thigh high boots out to some expensive cobbler in France. Can’t wait to see those babies, won’t they look super with the belted cardigan and spandex pants? The French cobbler will also be doing a pair of expensive calf high buck skin boots. She just might want to stop by at another soup kitchen photo op and it will be way to cold for the $500 tennies.
Guess no one in the U.S. has time or talent for such projects.

No surprise that both Colin Powell and SEIU’s Andy Stern were on the guest list. And naturally David Axelrod and the Rahm’bo family.
From the Hollywood bunch, Alfre Woodard, Steven Spielberg and David Geffen got the nod.

State dinners should be occasions to showcase the finest the U.S. has to offer. Serving curry to the Indian Prime Minister seems more than a bit patronizing — kind of like serving an American president a hamburger if the dinner was in India. The tent was ridiculous and inappropriate, especially for this time of year. But the biggest insult of all was paid White House Chef Cristeta Comerford. It seems 14 years in the White House (the last four as head chef) and stints as chef at three D.C. and two Chicago restaurants wasn’t an impressive enough resume for the Klingon Queen. MEchelle called in a Scandinavian head chef from a New York restaurant to “help” Comerford and her staff prepare a vegetarian menu. I could (maybe) understand if the menu was smorgasbord — but vegetables and curry? Is MEchelle trying to get Comerford to resign so she won’t look bad for firing the first minority and the first female to hold the WH chef’s post?
