I posted this under the next topic and actually applies to this conversation as well. This is a recount of an Iowa Townhall meeting…laced with DIM taliking points and mainstream Americans standing up for what they believe is right.

I ran across the mention of a recount of a heated Iowa Townhall Meeting — on WeaselZipper.com… — and thought it of interest. It further illustrates the passion growing in mainstream Americans and the increasing leftist strong-armed tactics to force ObamanotsogoodforusCare talking points down our throats…regardless.

One of my favorite posters on Flopping Aces is Old Trooper. He recently mentioned the appalling state of health care for American Indians on reservations and apparently someone used that sentiment in trying to challenge Senator Harkin (D-Iowa.)

“John Kurr of Windsor Heights started yelling. “Senator Harkin, you show me one good
Indian reservation with excellent medical care and I’ll be the first one to say, ‘Yes, I’ll
be jealous of that.’”

The report relayed the security for the meeting of 150 people included, plain clothed and uniformed security personnel present inside and out along with three DMPD cruisers parked outside.

Another Iowan in response to Harkins refusal to stray from the talking points was credited with the following challenge to Harkin:

“Another man in the back of the room started shouting: “i’ll tell you something. I’ve
read that bill. I don’t know that you have and let me tell you something. It reads like
something that was brought up in the early 1930s in Germany.” The crowd erupted
with both sides yelling at one another.”

If you have time to skim through, it is a fairly interesting account with Senator Harkin spewing the Dim talking points over and over — oh and he used his military service as an ace to “prove” how much he cared about the folks in the room.

Obama’s new boogieman = Insurance Companies.

Where are your answers for the mess of the health care system we now have. My sister had her health insurance policy cancelled after she had an operation for cancer. A cousin lost his job and his new employer’s insurance exclude his pre-existing condition so today he pays $1000 a month for medication he needs. My deductibles and premiums keep going up. Where is your plan for the problems we now face. Certainly you don’t want double digit inflation for your health care we now have. I listen closely but I don’t hear any solutions from those who yell the loudest. Please tell us your plan to fix the mess we now have.

Steve Bandon: I listen closely but I don’t hear any solutions from those who yell the loudest. Please tell us your plan to fix the mess we now have.

Steve, you may read my analysis and solutions in my post about Obama’s step by step plan to a single payer system.

So rather like the anti-Iraq liberation group, who never seemed to “hear” the exit strategy when it was given to them over and over, you apparently do not listen well. Because I have not been the only one to put forth alternatives.

@ Steve Bandon – You must have selective hearing. In this site alone, suggestions are made, offered every day. However, I think real point is — you don’t want to hear, just complain of opposing views…similar to roving “seminar posters.”

I am sorry for your sister’s medical bills…that has happened to us even with coverage for medical disasters…I have been there myself…but I worked through it with a lot of diligent efforts.

Those who oppose ObamaCare, such as myself, do so because I do not like:
– the over-reach of the bill,
– the open endedness of detail subject to future bureaucracy interpretation (are we going
to be paying for all abortions, sex changes (as is done for Cal prisoners), etc
– the invasion of privacy (such as government access to all of our bank accounts,
home intrusion, much more)
– why no tort reform?
– why start in 2013 (political elections of course) if it is such a dire emergency today?
– total disagreement with Dr Ezekiel Emmanuel on the value of life of children under 3,
adults over 40, and the over 65 end of life counseling?
– will life insurance for a family be paid with end of life assistance?
(Cash for Human Clunkers?)
– why no care after a certain age except a generic pain pill?
– why does the bill insinuate forced abortions, planned parenthood to limit children?
– who will be the team to decide citizens’ DALY/QALY scores? (will there be
favored exceptions)
– why the heck is there no TORT reform?
– lack of trust as we keep catching our leaders lying about this topic
– why are veterinarians included in the HR bill documentation?
– why do our Government leaders refuse to join the Obama Care coverage? Why are they
making a list of exceptions to ObamaCare including union members?
– why couldn’t Massachusetts state plan be studied as a model and tweaked before
wholesale roll-out?
– why so much cost descrepancy? Why not adopt a plan with more deficit neutral ideas
and those detailing how the plans would be actually funded?
– and LOTS more questions…

AND WHERE WE YOU when the Dems (including a Senator Obama) voted down health reform items in the past several years? Including Insurance and TORT reform efforts??

IF YOU REALLY CARE TO READ/LEARN OF OTHER IDEAS — in addition to MataHarley’s and other ideas mentioned, here is one proposal by the several Senators/House Reps…and has received thumbs up from several more liberal news/pundit sources.

Patients’ Choice Act –
Includes 100% coverage, Tort/Insurance reform, How it will be funded, Immediate steps to take care of true unisured citizens,

Also, if you are at all interested, the Heritage Foundation, Newt Gingrich, and many others also have written plans that cover Americans without the over-reach of a big brother-type government and the spending our country into oblivion.

My illustrious Congressman is holding a Townhall meeting on a specific Cable Network (only one of four cable companies in my area) Those that have that specific cable channel may call in questions, and “selected” questions will be chosen for any left over time??? We haven’t been advised of any date or time? If ObamaCare is so great, why all the games?

@Steve Bandon: Go visit the House and Senate GOP leaders web pages and you’ll be showered with alternatives.

Either that or you can keep repeating that phony talking point of yours that we offer no alternatives.

But then, you’d be a liar if you did that.

The Obama Administration and Congress only tell us of how important it is to pass their health care plan (a government insurance boondoggle which was not what the public asked for), and yet still refuse to talk about health care system REFORMS, which was what they promised this would be all about. Classic “Bait and Switch” tactics.

Does anyone remember the old saying “don’t buy a pig in a poke”?

For those who don’t, it means: “An offering or deal that is foolishly accepted without being examined first.”
