I don’t have to call my representative. She called me. It was a recording and asked “yes or no” questions but she was spot on the money. She asked all the critical questions I am concerned about and she didn’t ask for money. How about that?

Unfortunately, Kay Hagan is one of my senators. Nuff said. Hopefully she will be a one term wonder.

We have Burris and Durbin representing us, don’t be jealous, gems of that ilk and all. The Burris office is friendly, courteous and promises to pass the info along when I call. When I e-mail a form response promising a longer response to my concern will be coming shortly, never does. Durbin’s office is rude, and does not respond to my e-mails. Have already contacted Rep. Manzullo a couple of days ago, no problems with him, ever!

But, I will start the cycle again, Mike, sticking all three topics into a letter, ph call and e-mail, at least when they make their counts, my efforts will count against what they are doing.

And, you are right, this is important, our voices won’t be heard if we don’t make contact with the bums!

I’m gonna make the calls. I already did for cap n’ trade and the Porkulus.

I have a better idea. Throw every incumbent out.

Last night we met them on their own turf. The tax raising city council got a mob scene and voted down the taxes … Tired today, but back tomorrow.

The best thing to do is go to your reps town meetings and protest there.

And to those others who feel that their letters might be a waste of time: One thing you can do is start supporting candidates to run against these dinosaurs. If there is a race in 2010 against someone you feel doesn’t listen then contribute to the conservative running against them.

Or, contribute to a national organization that is currently getting your point of view out to the country.

Did I get caught in spam-bodia?

Aqua,

I don’t see you in the filter.

Odd, I would have sworn I posted here. I wrote my congressman. First time ever. By some strange political line drawn in the grand capital in Atlanta, I moved 6 miles down the road and out of conservative Congressman Westmoreland district into Hank Johnson’s district. He replaced Cynthia McKinney. I have very little faith in a response. Last year when I voted and saw his name, I thought I was in the wrong polling station. He was unchallenged, so I wrote in Peter Griffin. It was either him or Stewie, and frankly, Stewie scares me a bit.

@Aqua:

Cynthia McKinney….

She was a real jewel.

Heh.

The republicans redrew the district in 2000. Used to be John Linder for my area. I think they were hoping to add conservative Gwinnett and conservative Rockdale to super left Dekalb would turn the tide a bit. So far, it hasn’t worked out very well. Then Oprah told her audience how great Conyers was and a bunch of yankees moved down here. Thankfully, many are retreating. But don’t count Cynthia out yet, she ain’t done.

More on topic, PolitiFact now has broken promise #7.
No. 517: Negotiate health care reform in public sessions televised on C-SPAN

To achieve health care reform, “I’m going to have all the negotiations around a big table. We’ll have doctors and nurses and hospital administrators. Insurance companies, drug companies — they’ll get a seat at the table, they just won’t be able to buy every chair. But what we will do is, we’ll have the negotiations televised on C-SPAN, so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies. And so, that approach, I think is what is going to allow people to stay involved in this process.”

OK, for sure caught in spam this time.
