Ron Howard: Bush Crimes Worse Then Nixon’s

Another hollywood to put on the moron list: (h/t Newsbusters)

Director Ron Howard appeared for a C-SPAN Washington Journal interview Monday morning on Capitol Hill with British screenwriter Peter Morgan to discuss their new film Frost/Nixon, based on Morgan’s play on the 1977 interviews between British TV star David Frost and the Republican president who resigned. The jarring moment came near the end, when C-SPAN host Steve Scully asked “For a generation who doesn’t remember Nixon or these interviews, what do you want them to come away with?”

Howard replied that Nixon’s crimes were “quaint” compared to the current administration: “Well, it’s a great drama. It doesn’t have a political axe to grind, and yet you know, it speaks to democracy, the media, the way it all works in the modern era. The only thing that’s kind of quaint about the story at all is the fact that, you know, uh, that the Nixon crimes pale by comparison, with uh, with uh, um, um, [picks up pen] you know, what we’ve been reading about and hearing about in the last few years. Uh, and yet, it also reminds us that abuse of power at any level cannot be accepted, and, so if there’s a political point to be made, you know, I’d say it’s nonpartisan, but that’s the point.”

Sad to see such a talented director go the way of the moonbat moron parade but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.

The only errors President Bush made were in pursuing liberal policies regarding education, medicaton for seniors and excessive foreign aid to nations that hate us.

These were not crimes, but the mistakes of someone who truly wanted to help people at the expense of conservative principles.

Mr. Howard needs to learn a little more history and stop relying on the self annointed media for information…they are legendary for their stupidity.

Best regards,
Gail S

“Director Ron Howard!” Oh please. You mean OPIE??!!

A day late and a dollar short.

I give these Hollywood dufus guys one free pass. Just to allow for the fact that everyone say’s something dumb sooner or later…

After that, I stop supporting them and their projects.

As Opie’s school yard nemesis asked in the infamous “Opie Gets Bullied” episode of “The Andy Griffith Show”, “Is it Opie? or Dopie?”

Of course, in over 200 years, there hasn’t been a single figure in American history whose crimes were greater than those of Bush the Evil! Forget Lee Harvey Oswald, Richard Speck, the Rosenbergs, Leopold & Loeb, Susan Smith, John Wayne Gacy, John Wilkes Booth….all pale next to Bush the Waterboarder!

It’s sad that Ron Howard turns out to be just another baby-boomer narcissist, re-fighting the battles of his youth that that were won decades ago, as until 11/4/08, liberals hadn’t won a big one in long time.
Next on his list is a bold, courageous film exposing George Wallace and Lester Maddox as…. racists!

What a dufus. He’s living in Hollywood lala land in his head. And, unfortunately he must have brainwashed Andy Griffith, too, who I heard supported Obama as well (that one sort of blew my mind).

Another Obama supporter–Harrison Ford, go figure.

Pull him some slack, he’s living his second childhood as 8 year old Opie. Next comes the diapers and being spoon fed by a nanny. I worry about where, and how much it’s going to cost, to house all of the mental retard (aka democrats) who go over the edge when GWB goes back to Tx with his morals and beliefs intact.

You must have missed his earlier comments:

If Franken wins, there will be even more vocal.

ron howard is a dipshit. just because he made a few movies doesn’t mean he knows politics. wonder what would happen if i went around talking about clinton and obamas crimes, i know would end up in jail. and if these morons don’t stop coming out of the wood work i will never be able to watch another movie again, i keep boycotting morons. i do still love my walmart…woo hoo.

I know what you mean, luva. My list of boycotted actors is getting larger and larger.

New Guy recalls the old line from the Andy Griffith Show: “Is it Opie? or Dopie?”

Answer: DOPIE!

What an idiot the man is.

These Hollyweird loons live in a world of fantasy and make believe and they want us to take them seriously when they say idiotic crap like this?

I heard Chris Wallace (Fox) spanked him for making such stupid comments at a screening.

Howard replied that Nixon’s crimes were “quaint” compared to the current administration

Ron’s not too bright, is he? Sheesh, it’s one thing for someone to merely have a different opinion on matters like Bush – it’s another if that same person shows a complete lack of thought when expressing that opinion.

Sheesh, was there ever an episode of Andy Griffith where Andy took Opie out back and smacked him upside the head?

uh, that the Nixon crimes pale by comparison, with uh, with uh, um, um

Hey, look – Ron’s doing an Obama impression! 🙂

I heard Chris Wallace (Fox) spanked him for making such stupid comments at a screening.

That’s why Chris Wallace is the man.

Opiebama;
Either they spent too much time over at Goober’s gas station sniffing the fumes or they’ve been smoking the same wacky-tobacky as Floyd the Barber.

Opie says Bush is a worst criminal than Nixon and yet can’t offer up a single statement to justify that claim? I didn’t know Aunt Bee was serving up so much Kool-aid back then.

I was slightly surprised to hear Harrison was amongst that mix. After the Air Force One & Jack Ryan roles, I guess I also made the typical fan mistake of type-casting him by his performances. I thought he “had a pair”. Then again, Solo was a smuggler & Indy was essentially a grave-robber. I wonder if he sees Cheney as Darth Vader & Bush as the Emperor Palpatine.

Thanks for the vid as well sanjay, I wonder if 4 years from now the Dems will have as much trouble admitting they were “Wr-wr-wr-… You know” as the Fonze.

My respect for Opie has gone way down. Bush has kept Opie’s arse safe for the past seven years. And these comments just after the Mumbai Massacre is even more grievous. Does Opie really believe that if these fanatical muslims take over USA, that he and his hollywood ilk would have greater rights and more freedom than in the dark days of Bush/Vader?
Maybe he should read about his hero FDR and all his power plays from 1932-45, before Opie criticizes the minor assertions of Presidential power employed by the WH during the past 8 years.

Opie is just another *more of the same* out of Hollywood caught up in their own make believe world. They bypass reality by creating it, don’t bother them with something as dull as facts, they can create facts too, and add explosions, floods, riots, blood…… presto! Who can argue with anything after they are done with it?

Perhaps Opie could star in a remake of the Wizard of Oz:

Andy, please get your belt to this tow headed brat.

Wasn’t this the guy who was cast as the nerd on the teen drama series “Happy Days”?
I guess there’s no change. Once a nerd, always a nerd.

For that matter, what are they growing there in Mayberry???

Pondering Penguin writes:

According to Jim Pinkerton, Howard was “Hollywood-ish” as he spoke of the making of the film and screen-testing various endings. He described Morgan as “arty and somewhat abstract” as he was more hostile to Frost and checkbook journalism. He then wrote of Reston’s hatred of Nixon and the tie into the “metaphor for George W. Bush.” That’s right. The deranged even find a way to link President Bush with Richard Nixon. Bravo. Morons unite.

Freely enjoying the pleasures of rewriting history to fit their own political agenda, Howard and Dallek were completely comfortable with the tie made between the two men. And, it was cool with most of the audience. Dallek, the “historian” and “professor” was taken aback when their opinions masquerading for historical facts were questioned.

Fox New Sunday anchor, Chris Wallace, son of uber liberal 60 Minutes reporter Mike Wallace, rose and said, “To compare George W. Bush to Richard Nixon is to trivialize Nixon’s crimes and is a disservice to Bush.” He reminded all present that there have been no further attacks on our soil since 9/11 and “Richard Nixon’s crimes were committed solely for his own political gain, whereas George W. Bush was trying to protect the American people.”

Ron Howard is brilliant in some ways but when it comes to his comment about President Bush he is revealing his ignorance. Disagreeing with the war is one thing but voice the disagreement with truth not outright lies. shame on Ron Howard
