The LA Times is refusing to release a videotape that shows Barack Obama attending a dinner in honor of Rashid Khalidi. It is no wonder that he doesn’t want it released. The comments he made while toasting Rashid Khalidi during the event are inflamatory and embarrassing to say the least! He said:
“My friend Rashid is a hero among our Palestinian brothers along the West Bank, and with his continued effort, and our continued support, we can guarantee the removal of the Jewish invaders from our promised land! Without a doubt, a united Palestinian front can banish the racist Israeli state back to the four corners of the world and cleanse the holy land of their stain! Then, we will use the example of Palestinian liberation to usher forth a new age in America! An America where heroes like my good friends Bill Ayers, Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and Malik Zulu Shabazz will bring and end to the tyranny of capitalism, democracy, and white christianity! We will take the wealth of the American economic elite, and use it to buy the votes of the American poor! Then, when we have control of the United States House of Representatives, the United States Senate, the United States Supreme Court, and of course, the White House, we will show the American people what real governance is! We will redistribute the wealth! We will bring down the corporations, and eliminate the small busenessmen! We will put them on the path to socialism, and get this nation ready for the next step toward Marxist Communism! We will give them change!”
Well, at least I’m pretty sure that’s what he said. Well, actually, I have no idea what he said, I’m just guessing. But, if the LA Time refuses to release the video so we can know for sure, I’m just going to have to assume that I guessed right!
Unfortunately, McCain waited until the last minute to bring this up. They’ve known about this since April when the story first came out.
Did the campaign fail to realize what kind of fight they were in? Did they really believe Obama when he said he wanted to run a clean campaign (or pledge to follow campaign finance limits?)
The lesson here is that Obama and the Dems will say or do anything to get elected (not that that’s news to most of us) and if you are not prepared to play hardball, they will roll you.
I dare them to prove it is not true!
I’m not sure it’s a “last minute” bit, Mike. Yes, the story and the fact that Obama and Khalidi break bread together in the ‘hood is 7 months old. However the existance of a video tape of that event is breaking news only in the past week or so.
We’ve only had press excerpts of the Obama speech, or other speeches at that event. A video of the gathering would give us an idea of the attendees, and the gist of their comments.
Frankly, the LA Times does more damage to Obama by not releasing it, and allowing the electorate to speculate on why they are holding it back. Not to mention, the damage they do themselves as a member of the “4th” branch of power.
Personally, I don’t care. I already see Obama for what and who he is. Tho hearing his own words ring out – much like his “spread the wealth” comment has done – may affect that 1 out of 7 still trying to figure out who to vote for on Tuesday.
Or, with all the early voting, with *anyone* be voting on Tuesday?

I think you’re exactly right. Until the Times releases the tape, it’s safe to assume that Obama also congratulated Khalidi for his work saying “Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine” plus there’s been “genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis.”
It’s up to the Times now to prove that Obama didn’t say those things. At the very least, they could come out at say no – Obama didn’t say those things. That still wouldn’t convince me, but at least it would be something.
If John McCain actually does win on Tuesday it will be wholly in spite of John McCain. His lameness, incompetence and downright stupidity have been breathtaking, to say the very least. There’s no point in rehashing all of the golden opportunities squandered, from drilling to the trillion dollar pork-laden bailout to Obamas contempt for the Constitution (these last two could have proven definitive) McCain has not just dropped the ball, he has thrown it to the Obama campaign, begging they not call him a racist. Yet given the nationwide sense of mistrust for the democrats chosen Manchurian Candidate, McCain still has a chance to win. His administration would in all likelyhood drive conservatives nearly as nuts as that of the Marxist, America-hating, racist alternative. But with a McCain White House, Rush and Savage would probably still be on the air, Israel would remain on the map and my Glock would remain in my dresser drawer. Please, whatever you do, ignore election “news” on Monday and Tuesday and VOTE.
It’s not that McCain waited too long, or that he ran a poor campaign, though I agree, he did. The reality is that American voters have put their blinders on and are seemingly ready to ignore any and every fact or question that surfaces about their annointed savior, Obama. If a person stands completely defiant in the face of the truth, it doesn’t matter how you run your campaign, because your fighting ideology, not reality.
His fear of looking like a racist is not unfounded. I have been called just that and much more for simply talking about issues in this election, and those are labels that tend to stick when you’re in the public eye.
Either way, I’m stocking up on my supplies of .45ACPs and .223s.

I’m not Jewish or Palestinian, but don’t think that means I can’t relate to the plight of either, or that I look at either through rose colored glasses. America, as we know it today, was founded by people trying to find a new world free from the oppression that they had lived under back home. When the newcomers came here, they dominated and displaced the native population, and have ruled this country ever since. Much the same happened in Israel, but as we all know, the history goes back a little farther, and dominance of the land has switched hands a few more times, but essentially, you have one dominant culture, and one displaced culture. In America, there were brief instances where other countries attempted to interfere and support the displaced culture (ie. French-Indian War), but that was never about supporting the native population, it was about using the native population to support their own agendas. Likewise, in Israel, countries like Egypt, Syria, Iran, and others have interfered and supported the displaced Palestinians, but that has never been about supporting the Palestinians either, it was about using the Palestinians to further their own agendas. I have no doubt that actions of the Israeli army has caused the deaths of civilians, just like I have no doubt that our own armies have done the same, as have every army that has ever been fielded in the history of mankind. Yes, I’m sure that the Palestinian people as a whole are good people. That doesn’t justify the existence of terroristic organizations such as the old PLO and today’s Hamas. If the members of the Shoshoni indian tribe started bombing public buildings in the U.S. to fight for their independence, they would be quickly crushed under heal, and I have no doubt that civilians would suffer. As I said, war is hell. That doesn’t mean I want a President who freely associates with terrorists and terrorist supporters. You are right about one thing though, we should all stop listening to the media. That means you, too.
