Iranian General In Iraq Determines Fate of the War?

Yeah, I know, it’s McLatchy (and even worse, it’s Strobel), but given that lump o’ salt that comes with anything regarding Iraq from this source, give this a taste.  The ill-informed, historical revisionists such as McLatchy and Strobel have now come to recognize that, “Yes, Iranian forces are actually in Iraq, they are killing Americans, and they are preventing the creation of a stable Iraq; preventing the withdrawal of US forces.”  Of course, as usual, Strobel prefers to insert DNC talking points into a “news” article (such as the incorrect claim that the Bush Administration has sought to back a secular govt in Iraq), but the fact remains that we have a decidedly anti-Bush/anti-Iraq War source recognizing (albeit without admitting the recognition) that Iran is now the biggest stumbling block towards peace in Iraq.

In 2004 when the insurgency in Iraq exploded, it was basically comprised of several distinct groups:

1) Saddam’s regime in exile operating out of Syria and Jordan

2) Al Queda groups often based in Syria and working with the regime in exile

3) criminals that Saddam had let loose before the invasion

4) Syrian backed militias/insurgent groups

5) Iranian backed militias/insurgent groups

(Sorry, no “Freedom fighters” against Haliburton imperialsim.  Those people limited their efforts to wearing pink and dancing in the streets of San Fran as a form of protest.)

Today, Syria’s influence has been dramatically reduced.  The Surge offensive focused on Al Queda groups, and their influence has been dramatically reduced.  The former regime in exile has been decimated and their leader-Saddam’s official successor-reported to have been turned over to Iraqi forces by Syria!  What remains as the biggest problem now is Iranian backed militias and insurgent groups.

The Bush Administration has been claiming that Iranian forces were killing Americans in Iraq for years now, and while the media won’t dare come out and say, “The Bush Administration was right/we were wrong” this piece shows that the truth can’t be hidden, spun, or dismissed anymore.  When even McLatchy papers and Strobel have to recognize that Iran is in Iraq and killing Americans…well, the time for denial is now over.
