Hillary – I’ll Obliterate Iran

Well, not really:

Clinton further displayed tough talk in an interview airing on Good Morning America Tuesday, ABC News’ Chris Cuomo asked Clinton what she would do if Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons.

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president we will attack Iran,” Clinton said. “In the next ten years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.”

“We would be able to” is a bit different then “we will” but she is obviously trying to show that against McCain she can at least hold her own in the national security arena whereas Obama can’t. Its pandering to the Kennedy blues…..and between the Obama and herself, she’s right. But in no way would anyone expect her to actually order the obliteration of Iran if they attacked Israel. But at least she may send a few missiles their way. Obama would give them a strong talking to.

This threat comes on the heels of Obama running like a little girl from the NC debate….pretty good timing.

Yeah…suuuuure she will. I suspect she’ll be all talk and no significant action if such a disasterous event occurs if she is Commander-in-Chief

she would never order that, she likes to talk tough. if she had any action in her willy wouldn’t have been looking for it elsewhere.

Hmmm, if Iran attacked Israel, what would the responses of the three candidates be? Probably a little something like this…
John McCain: Rally NATO as much as possible, going ahead with which ever countries would support the U.S. in a full-scale assault on Iran (though perhaps not actually going so far as a ground invasion).
Hillary Clinton: Fire cruise missiles from ships and submarines in the Persian Gulf at selected targets in Iran (ala Bill’s attack on Al Qaeda in Afghanistan); also push for full sanctions in the U.N. Security Council.
Barack Obama: Invite Iranian president to the White House and give him a firmly worded lecture, then get Iran put on the U.N. Human Rights Commission.

Israel has about 200 nuclear weapons they can certainly take care of themselves.

Israel’s biggest danger (in remaining a Jewish state) is population demographics. Secular Jews are leaving faster than emigrating and the Israeli Arab population has a growth rate more than twice that of the Jewish growth rate. According to the CIA report this will happen within 30 to 50 years

The only way she’d authorize the mass killing of millions of people is if it was polling well at the moment.

btw, GREAT points John. Real or not, they do seem misleading in that the nation of Israel isn’t that old to begin with, and since a lot has happened in it’s 60yrs of existence, I think it’s wise to put tongue in cheek with those stats and recognize that an equal or greater change in those rates is likely to happen in the next 30-50 (or 60) yrs. For example, another Final Solution would seem to increase Jewish immigration, and the Israeli wall as well as future agreements between Israelis and Arabs is sure to have an effect on Arab immigration (+ or -).

Like Obama’s gaffe – his “actionable intelligence” unilateral strike promise on Pakistan – I was wondering when Tehran would respond to Hillary. Didn’t take long… from the Tehran Times..

“We will cut off the hand of invaders with the slightest attack on the country,” Army Commander Major General Ataollah Salehi told a graduation ceremony of military cadets here on Monday.

“Now, we are in a situation that the enemy has occupied neighboring countries (of Iraq and Afghanistan) and have surrounded us. It planned to wipe out the Islamic country of Iran by targeting mock enemies such as Taliban and Saddam but it could not.

It’s interesting that Tehran has noticed a US success that the US electorate, nor the DNC, has not. That with Bush’s Iraq maneuver to depose Saddam, he left us a US friendly ally in the region that’s parked right in the middle of Iran and Syria. Not such a dumb strategy afterall… providing, of course, we don’t abandon Iraq to militants, jihadists, and Islamic law.

Then of course, there is the irony that the DNC, liberal media and progressive blogs have been telling the US electorate that Bush was planning on invading Iran before his term was up for over a year now. Yet now we see just who really *is* beating the drums of war. And it ain’t the cowboy Prez.

If Hillary truly learned from slumming it in the White House while Slick Willie was getting hummers from nubile interns, then here’s the probable scenario:

Iran will nuke Israel. Hillary will consult the UNtied Nations, then bomb an aspirin factory in the middle of nowhere Iran.
