A Bride & Groom stopped in Iraq actually terror suspects

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) —Soldiers manning a checkpoint near Baghdad stopped a wedding convoy to find that the purported bride and groom were wanted terror suspects, an Iraqi Defense Ministry official said Monday.

The army set up the checkpoint last week in the Taji area, about 12 miles (20 kilometers) north of Baghdad. The soldiers became suspicious of the convoy because its members — save the “bride” — were all male and because one of the cars in the convoy did not heed orders to stop, the official said.

Also, soldiers said, the people in the car seemed nervous and the groom refused to lift his bride’s veil when soldiers asked him to, according to the official.

Soldiers ordered everyone out of the car, the official said. Upon inspecting the convoy, soldiers found a stubbly-faced man, Haider al-Bahadli, decked out in a white bride’s dress and veil.

Bahadli was wanted on terror-related charges, as was his groom, Abbas al-Dobbi, the official said. Two other terror-related suspects were detained as well.

On a more serious note, yet one more example of how US Soldiers have become “culturally aware” of the Arabic/Persian world and know when something is correct and when it is strange. The Left loves to slander, lie about, and otherwise disparage the US Military as degenerate, ignorant savages (but they “support us”) while elevating our truly barbaric enemies to “sainthood” (or as close as Marxism has to it).

In the real world where leftist lies fail, US Service Members have learned Islamic, Arabic, and Persian cultural norms, practices, and what should not happen “normally”. Because of this knowledge, we successfully trained Iraqi units to assume missions throughout Iraq and several more terrorists are no longer on the street.

Update It has been pointed out that the article does not mention if this was an Iraqi Army, Coalition Armed Forces, or joint checkpoint. However, another article does. This was an Iraqi Checkpoint. Iraqis trained by us “stupid” American Soldiers. I stick to my point as American Forces trained the new Iraqi Army to be everything it was not under the ruthlessness of a National Socialist Saddam. Our Forces also instilled professionalism, Honor, and Respect into this new Army.

American Forces also man hundreds of checkpoints around Iraq doing the same thing every day.

These Soldiers have stories to tell also. One being how a “brave” Islamic fighter left his two kids to die in a VIED that injured no one but the children in order to try and throw off a US Checkpoint.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan soldiers caught a senior Taliban commander, who was wearing a burqa, at a checkpoint while NATO forces today fought Taliban militants in the second day of the alliance’s largest-ever offensive in Afghanistan.

Mullah Mahmood, who is accused of helping the Taliban detonate suicide bombs, was caught yesterday in Kandahar province while wearing the all-encompassing Islamic veil worn here by women, NATO said.

“Alert [Afghan] soldiers at this checkpoint spotted the oddity and quickly arrested him,” NATO said. Mullah Mahmood was caught trying to leave the Panjwayi area of Kandahar province — the site of a large NATO battle last fall where hundreds of Taliban fighters were killed, NATO said.

I guess it is okay to be a cross-dresser in Islam if you have connections…..
