The Cowardly Resolution Fails!

Posted by: Curt @ 4:05 pm in MSM Bias, Politics, The Iraqi War  | 0 views

And the Democrats attempts at stifling debate has been defeated by a vote of 49 to 47.  Of course the AP and the rest of the MSM are mischaracterizing it:

Republicans Block Senate Debate on Iraq

Republicans blocked a full-fledged Senate debate over Iraq on Monday, but Democrats vowed to find a way to force President Bush to change course in a war that has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 U.S. troops.

Only our MSM can spin this so pathetically.  The Democrats position is that the debate should be ended and a vote held immediately.  They want to prevent competing resolutions from even be heard.  Meanwhile the Republicans want MORE debate.  No matter how the MSM spins this, the filibuster is to prevent the VOTE, not the debate.  If the Democrats want to proceed to a vote then they need to allow the other resolutions onto the table.  That’s it.  But nope, they don’t want any debate so instead they run to their friends the MSM who proceed to spin, spin, and spin some more.

And they say our MSM isn’t biased.

Joe Lieberman gave a great speech against this resolution:

Checking out the votes we find two Republicans stabbed the troops, the President, and the American people in the back.  Those two being:

Collins (R-ME)

DC Office Information
413 Dirksen Senate Office Building

Phone: (202) 224-2523

Coleman (R-MN)

Washington Office:

Stand by to stand by you two.

Good work by all getting out the faxes, emails, and phone calls to put some sense into Smith, Brownback, Voinovich, and Snowe.  All RINO’s still, but at least this time they were on the right side of the vote.

Meanwhile Chrissy asks a question he would only ask of a Republican.  Is Rudy a Fascist? (h/t Newsbusters)

What a nimrod.
