The New & Improved UN Resolution Against Iran

Posted by: Curt @ 4:19 pm in Iran, The UN  | 0 views

I bet Iran is shaking in their boots after this resolution huh?

The U.N. Security Council unanimously agreed Saturday to impose sanctions against Iran for refusing to suspend uranium enrichment, culminating two months of negotiations to curb a nuclear program the United States claims is aimed at building weapons.

The resolution orders all countries to ban the supply of specified materials and technology that could contribute to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. It also imposes an asset freeze on key companies and individuals in the country’s nuclear and missile programs named on a U.N. list.

If Iran refuses to comply, the resolution warns Iran that the council will adopt further nonmilitary sanctions.

I am amazed the Iranians were able to survive this onslaught of harsh words.   Listen closely now, you can almost here the laughter all the way from Iran…..geez.

Mario Loyola:

So far, the Europeans have used the Security Council as a brilliant device for containing the United States. But what happened to containing Iran? The further economic sanctions hinted at open up another interval of many months during which the Iranians know they can plow full steam ahead with no consequences. This resolution was little more than a permit for Iran to Ahmadinejad to throw the big "coming out" party he plans for February, when Iran is set to declare itself a nuclear state.

It’s interesting that those who strongly believe we can contain a nuclear Iran have so little interest in containing it now.

More wrist slapping and finger pointing.  Don’t you be bad Mr. Ahm mad in de head. or you will get it. None of us can be that surprised at the utter failure of the UN anymore right?  It’s a useless corrupt virus of a organization and should be dismantled piece by piece.

Me too. When Chris Matthews asked his panel the other night if they thought Pres Bush should listen to his critics “like Matt Damon”….man, I laughed so hard the dog ran out of the room. I can’t believe Matthews wouldn’t have seen Team America, but hey…it’s Chris Matthews.
