Oh, The Outrage!

So the Pope apologized once again, saying that the words spoken in the 15th Century that he quoted in his speech was not how HE felt:

Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday that he was “deeply sorry” about the angry reaction to his recent remarks about Islam, which he said came from a text that did not reflect his personal opinion.

Despite the statement, protests and violence persisted across the Muslim world, with churches set ablaze in the
West Bank and a hard-line Iranian cleric saying the pope was united with President Bush to “repeat the Crusades.”

Benedict sparked the controversy when, in a speech Tuesday to university professors during a pilgrimage to his native Germany, he cited the words of a Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, Islam’s founder, as “evil and inhuman.”

On Sunday, he stressed the words “were in fact a quotation from a medieval text which do not in any way express my personal thought.”

“At this time I wish also to add that I am deeply sorry for the reactions in some countries to a few passages of my address at the University of Regensburg, which were considered offensive to the sensibility of Muslims,” the pope told pilgrims at his summer palace outside Rome.

but the apology fell on deaf ears…as I’m sure your surprised to hear:

Two gunmen killed an Italian nun and her bodyguard at a hospital Sunday, and a security official for an Islamic militia controlling the capital speculated the attack was linked to worldwide Muslim anger over a speech by Pope Benedict XVI.

The nun, whose identify was not released, was shot in the back four times at the entrance to the Austrian-run S.O.S. Hospital in northern Mogadishu, said Dr. Mohamed Yusuf, a physician at the facility, which serves mothers and children.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which came hours after a leading Somali cleric condemned remarks by the pope that quoted a Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of Islam’s founder as “evil and inhuman”.

While the Pope may say that the words spoken by that Byzantine ruler were not his own, they may well have been spoken today….these people are evil and inhuman. Any religion which would call on its people to kill a innocent human being, such as this nun, or 3000 people in a building, to ensure strict fealty to its god is indeed evil.

And where are the so called “moderates”? Why they compare the Pope to Hitler of course:

In Turkey, however, where the Pope is due to visit in November, the deputy leader of the ruling party said Benedict had “a dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the middle ages”. Salih Kapusuz added: “He is going down in history in the same category as leaders such as Hitler and Mussolini.”

Representatives of the two million Turks in Germany, where the comments were made, also expressed deep annoyance. The head of the Turkish community, Kenan Kolat, said they were “very dangerous” and liable to misunderstanding.

They care not that they are making the Pope’s point for him. This blind obedience to their religious leaders to cause mayhem is proving to the world, if anyone believed otherwise, that this religion is not of peace. It’s a religion of forced conversions, death and destruction. One religious leader is calling for the Pope to basically take back the statement that he did not make, a 15th century figure did:

Mahmoud Ashour, the former deputy of Cairo’s Al-Azhar Mosque, the Sunni Arab world’s most powerful institution, told Al-Arabiya TV immediately after the pope’s speech that, “It is not enough. He should apologize because he insulted the beliefs of Islam. He must apologize in a frank way and say he made a mistake.”

If anyone should be insulted it is the people who actually believed your religion would be capable of discussion and disagreement. Who believed your religion was capable of reason.

I mean this is just ironic. The Pope’s speech spoke about how this religion was incapable of critical thinking when it came to their own religion. Instead they blindly follow their leaders to murder and destroy whatever they are told to…..Irony my friends, irony.
