When Resistance Became Sedition and Sedition Became Resistance

By Daniel Greenfield

In 2008, “dissent” went from being the “highest form of patriotism”, a quote by Communist revisionist historian Howard Zinn that Democrats falsely attributed to Thomas Jefferson, to treason when George W. Bush made way for Barack H. Obama. The old bumper stickers about the patriotic value of dissent were swiftly replaced with others touting the value of change.

In 2020, resistance just as quickly turned into sedition once the political tables were turned.

In one month, questioning a presidential election went from a commonplace proposition to a shocking attack on our democracy. And we all know that if President Trump had been inaugurated for a second term, there would be no censorship or censure of the Democrat politicians and pundits claiming that he was only reelected because of Russia or UFOs.

Nor would we be hearing any talk of “sedition” and “insurrection” as if they were bad things.

When November was just decorating the flagstones of D.C. with faded leaves, the Democrat cliques inside federal agencies were still touting their skill at undermining the White House in chats with reporters at bars where drinks cost more than most Americans earn in a day.

These members of the “resistance” had spent four years undermining elected officials while falsely claiming that they were entitled to do it because the 2016 election had been illegitimate.

Government officials boasted anonymously of undermining President Trump, members of Congress and their staffers helped protesters get inside to disrupt hearings, rioters who assaulted police officers and attacked federal buildings were bailed out by Democrat officials and celebrities who enlisted Silicon Valley and major corporations to support the riots.

By the time November was done, resistance had been rebranded as “sedition”. Storming Capitol Hill went from a passionate endeavor by Democrat activists protesting the Kavanaugh nomination, the environment, or some other lefty cause, to the single worst event since 9/11.

Black Lives Matter riots had besieged the White House and set fire to its guardhouse, while still being defended by Democrats and the media as peaceful protesters. The media agonized over photos of federal agents protecting the Lincoln Memorial as a sign of incipient fascism. Less than a year later, 25,000 troops occupying D.C. like Baghdad are being cheered by the media.

The difference between resistance and sedition, between protests and insurrections, is who’s in charge. Democrats resist Republican elected officials. Republicans however commit sedition against Democrat elected officials. Democrats protest, Republicans riot. These aren’t distinctions in law. The only real distinction is who’s in power and who’s on the barricades.

Political hypocrisy isn’t a new phenomenon, but Democrats weaponizing the national security state to suppress the political opposition over the same behavior they engage in is a serious threat to the survival of the United States as anything other than a banana republic in a civil war.

The Democrats fired the first shot when the Obama administration used the national security system to target members of Congress during its time in office and then, in an election year, went after President Trump’s associates based on Hillary Clinton’s opposition research.

Instead of being held accountable for abusing national security to target their political opponents, Democrats, their media, and their allies in the system doubled down with fake investigations of the same worthless allegations that they never managed to substantiate.

We need the immediate release of the transcript of Biden’s call with Putin. If the administration won’t release it, it should be leaked. Then we need to impeach Biden for the call while focus-grouping what charge sounds worse to the public.

Republicans failed to hold the Democrats accountable when they were in power.

Most Republicans still felt there was some level of camaraderie between Republicans and Democrats. They don’t want to burn that bridge of friendly opposition. They don’t realize the Democrats want to DESTROY them. If they realize it now, it may be too late. While Republicans wag their finger at Democrats and say, “Naughty, naughty! You better stop spying on our campaigns or we shall give you such a look!” while Democrats fence up DC (ground zero of “fences don’t work) to propagandize the existential threat Republicans pose to justify them crushing their very existence.

The fence around the Capitol is permanent. The National Guard around the Capitol is permanent. Washington, DC is occupied. Surrounded. Besieged.
And don’t dare question your betters.
Serious penalties accrue to those who resist.
Resistance is futile.
You will be assimilated.

Nor would we be hearing any talk of “sedition” and “insurrection” as if they were bad things.

As if?

When sedition and insurrection are directed at the lawful processes of an existing constitutional democratic republic, the chaos that follows is in service of those who would install exactly what “better state of affairs”?

Republicans take a legal or philosophical perspective on everything while Democrats have an expedient activist take on it. Republicans turn to the law or tradition, while Democrats decide whether the Filibuster, the Electoral College, the institution of marriage, the existence of white people, and the biological reality of women serves their purposes or ought to be eliminated.

That’s another deceptive statement. Is twice turning a blind eye on what Donald Trump has done and what he incited taking a legal and philosophical perspective on everything? No. It is, in fact, the exact opposite.

Take a close look at the last part of the paragraph. That’s where the writer has really tipped his hand about his “concerns”. Women could be given full rights and control over their own destinies; white men could be pushed off their perches and find themselves intrinsically no better because of gender or race than women or people of color. Oh, the horror!

@Greg: Todays women have always had full control over their own destinies, we just dont want any involvement or financial burdens when they make unprotected decisions and get knocked up.
What perches to they think White men are on? The one where a feeble minded old racist can nap away a race and be awoken by his nurse or fake doctor wife to be told just sign it?

@Greg: Well, you didn’t think they were such bad things when Democrats were doing them for the past 4 years.

It wasn’t a Democrat who wrote “Nor would we be hearing any talk of “sedition” and “insurrection” as if they were bad things.” It wasn’t a Democrat who incited a mob to take over the Capitol building. Nor is it Democrats who are trying to pretend that the guy who did had nothing to do with the consequences.

@Greg: But it was Democrats who pursued investigations of things they KNEW were lies. It was Democrats who SPIED on Trump and his campaign. It was Democrats who persecuted Gen. Flynn in order to attack Trump, though Gen. Flynn committed no crimes. It was Democrats who impeached Trump for crimes Biden and other Democrats (Leahy, Menendez and Durbin) actually committed.

And it was Democrats that incited not only the January 6th riot but almost a full year of riots, political terror, to try and bring down Trump and intimidate his supporters.

And anti-Constitutional jackals like yourself that cheered it on.

@Deplorable Me, #7:

There were very good reasons for the investigation of Trump and his campaign organization. It would have been negligence not to have done so.

There were lies, alright.

Have you somehow forgotten that Michael Flynn failed to disclose he had been a paid agent of the Turkish government as well as of a couple of Russian government-backed corporate entities as is required by law, making himself a Secretary of State who would be vulnerable to blackmail? He compounded his problems by lying to the FBI.

The Obama administration actually warned the incoming Trump administration that Flynn could be compromised.

Total vindication was a fantasy.

@Greg:

There were very good reasons for the investigation of Trump and his campaign organization. It would have been negligence not to have done so.

Sure, from the Democrat point of view. They would never be able to defeat him in a fair election, so use lies as an excuse to continuously “investigate” him to see if there is ANYTHING they could exploit to destroy him.

There wasn’t.

So, in desperation they used the idea Biden gave them by openly bragging about extorting Ukraine to protect his share of the bribes Burisma was paying Hunter as an excuse to impeach Trump. THAT failed, so they had to resort to their final gambit: massive election fraud.

Gen. Flynn HAD disclosed his lobbying. He didn’t lie. He did nothing wrong. The FBI lied. The Democrats lied.

The Obama administration actually warned the incoming Trump administration that Flynn could be compromised.

Yeah, we now have the transcripts of the White House workshopping how to weaponize Gen. Flynn. Biden was involved. They used illegal surveillance. But, when the FBI interviewed him, he didn’t lie. The FBI had to alter their 302’s.

Where the hell have you been? All the lies have been exposed. Democrats are the most lying, treacherous, anti-American, Constitution-hating scum on the planet. Now they are serving the CCP.

@Curt: But what did Nancy and Mitch know and when did they know it?

@Curt: But… but… but if they KNEW it was coming, how did Trump’s speech “incite” it?
