Doug Powers:

John Kerry’s discussion with Hollywood’s top brass about how to counter terrorism was so productive that by the time the meeting was over James Taylorhad been signed to a three picture deal:

Secretary of State John Kerry met with Hollywood studio chiefs in Los Angeles on Tuesday to discuss various topics including Islamic State.

Kerry uploaded a photo of the meeting on Twitter, saying, “Great convo w studio execs in LA. Good to hear their perspectives & ideas of how to counter #Daesh narrative,” deploying a term meant to undercut the terrorist group’s claim to statehood.

The meeting — which included executives from NBCUniversal, Warner Bros., DreamWorks Animation, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Walt Disney Co. — was organized by Universal Filmed Entertainment Group Chairman Jeff Shell.

The attendees discussed a variety of issues, including perceptions of America’s image around the world, according to a person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to comment publicly.

Rumor has it they also started working on the script for a fake fictional film intended to trick the terrorist group into believing they’re as contained as Obama has insisted they are. The working title is “Argo II: Junior Varsity Blues.”

And of course what would any Obama administration counterterror strategy session be without a heaping helping of cronyism the size of the Hollywood sign?

James Taylor- fighting terrorism with song. Perfect

My guess is we will begin seeing movies depicting the terrorists as normally peaceful people with brain tumors that cause them to act erratically. Perhaps some proving that the US deserves all the terrorism aimed its way. Perhaps showing the beheadings REALLY came from the Grassy Knoll.

If the government really wanted Hollywood’s help, it would request they stop glorifying drug use and violence. :Let’s see how long it takes for THAT strategy to begin.

U.S. warplanes carried out air strikes against Islamic State-linked militants in western Libya on Friday, killing as many as 40 people in an operation targeting a suspect linked to two deadly attacks last year in neighboring Tunisia.

It was the second U.S. air strike in three months against Islamic State in Libya, where the hardline Islamist militants have exploited years of chaos following Muammar Gaddafi’s 2011 overthrow to build up a presence on the southern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

The Pentagon said it had targeted an Islamic State training camp and killed a Tunisian militant linked to major attacks on tourists in Tunisia.

Among those Washington said it targeted was Noureddine Chouchane, a Tunisian blamed by his native country for attacks last year on a Tunis museum and the Sousse beach resort, which killed dozens of tourists.

US Special Ops Teams in Libya Helped Direct Airstrikes Against ISIS

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there has still been no action from Congress regarding Obama’s formal request for authorization to use military force against ISIS. This was submitted over a year ago along with a suggested Joint Resolution, which could have been modified as seen fit by Congress.

Why would Secretary Kerry be talking to Hollywood executives? An interesting question. I’m guessing because their industry as the power to affect public perception, both in the United States and abroad. Part of the war against ISIS is a public relations battle, involving perception. ISIS recruiting and funding depend largely on their control of how they are perceived. They could be damaged using the same propaganda tools that they currently exploit.
