Carney is aptly named, he sounds and acts like a carnival huckster.
This administration has been managing the press from day one and they are only now chafing and getting uncomfortable with their heavy handed handlers. IMO the real reason why the Democrats want to redefine who is a journalist, is so that they can separate their propaganda parroting partisan cronies from real investigative “new media” journalists, the latter who are becoming what journalism was always loftily touted to be.
It is the loss of the people’s trust, (reflected in ratings and market share,) of the old “news” media, which has resulted in the people having to ignore these molders of “conventional wisdom” and turn to other sources to learn what is really going on.
