Moonbat Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) informs us that those who defend the sanctity of marriage from defilement by militant degenerates and creepy politicians are on “the wrong side of history“:

Oh, yeah……..and he’s such a fount of wisdom and knowledge.
Here’s what’s wrong with gay marriage. It’s got nothing to do with religion or views on procreation. It’s got everything to do with the difference between women and men.
Prominent gay writers are now starting to advise straights that the way to improve marriage is to allow for a little marital infidelity. “Be more like us,” is the argument, and your marriage will improve.
I actually think that this makes a lot of sense — for men “married” to men. It’s in a man’s nature not to be monogamous. But the beauty of marriage is that it’s pretty good at getting men to overcome their nature. The average gay man in a so-called “committed” relationship has a half dozen partners per year outside of the relationship. The average married guy has zero to one extramarital affairs, during the course of his marriage, with first marriages enduring, on average, 20 years or more (despite the “dismal” marriage statistics you’ll hear from gay marriage proponents).
I’ve written in great detail about this issue, on this blog.
The reason why the “defense of marriage” side is losing the battle is that the battle is being led by religious conservatives, who make religious arguments (e.g. promulgating the “sanctity” of marriage).
It’s a women’s and children’s welfare issue. Yes, marriage is one of those government programs which does, indeed, “promote the general welfare.” It helps keep men from behaving too badly, to the benefit of women and children.

openid.aol.com/runnswim,
they are right to defend the sanctity of marriage, those vows made directly to GOD
ARE WHORTHY OF BEING DEFENDED, AND OTHER FACTS COME AFTER ,
DO YOU KNOW THAT THIS COUNTRY, ONCE HAD GOD MENTIONNED IN GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS, IN SCHOOLS, IN PUBLIC PRAYERS, IN BOOKS WRITTEN, THAT VALUE HELP KEPT THE DECENCY IN THESE GENERATIONS OF AMERICANS INCLUDING THE MILITARYS’S PRAYERS.
NO ONE SHOULD FORGET THAT EVER, THIS AMERICA IS GOD’S COUNTRY,
LET THOSE WHO FAIL TO BELEIVE, HIDE IN SHAME AND SHOW THEIR ENVYOUS INTENT TO CHANGE THIS UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOREVER INTO A HATE NATION OF NON BELEIVERS,
WE HAVE NEWS FOR THEM, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
It was over 100 degrees where I was today.
I saw a Muslim couple.
He looked comfortable in his loose shorts and polo shirt and sandals.
She, a bit less comfy.
Her full length loose pants were worn over leggings. Her long sleeved shirt was topped by an open hip length sweater!
On top was a woven warm-looking tight headscarf.
On feet were closed toe’d shoes with socks that tucked into her leggings.
But then all a man has to do in their religion is TEXT: “You Are Divorced” three times to his wife and their marriage is over.
Women have no east opt-out.
In Dubai alone 150 divorces out of 555 this year were done via text message.

Larry, after seeing your post I need to pop a nitroglycerin tab or two. We actually agree on something (no, showering repeatedly will NOT make that dirty feeling go away).
Having had gay friends of the male type you speak the truth from what I have seen. Infidelity is way more common than in straight males.
I’ll never forget having learned about those men that died early in the early AIDS wave . On average they had at least 300 sexual partners. Some had as many as 1000+. No I don’t think they deserved to die, but such promiscuity has consequences. In this case it was fatal.
HBO had a movie called “And the Band Played On.” When a govt. agency wanted to close down the bath houses they openly fought the recommendation. It was like telling an adict he couldn’t have his fix.
Where I disagree with you about the gay marriage issue is in why we are “losing”. I say it’s because the left has a virtual monopoly on the media. 90% of what people see out there is the pro-gay marriage POV. In the Rodney King beating trial the jurors admited seeing the video over an over seemed to take away the horror of what was done. I would argue the same thing is in play when people are bombarded with pro-gay marriage arguements.
@Nan: Yesterday (3rd of July), I saw a different sort of Muslim couple. A young man and a young woman. The young man was one of my daughter’s circle of friends, growing up. I know him and his family very well. They are a typical American family of European (and Christian) descent. The young woman is a Muslim-American, born of immigrant parents. The young man converted to Islam and they were married in an Islamic ceremony, followed by an American civil ceremony. They are a strikingly beautiful couple and today shared a lane at my swim club. He was wearing competition Speedos and she an itsy bitsy teeny weenie bikini too skimpy for polk-a-dots. They swam very fast and probably did 4,000 yards or so (both former competitive swimmers).
The answer to all cultural problems is assimilation. The great American melting pot. This is why we should not fear Muslims in our midst. They’ll be assimilated, just like everyone else, given some time. The Islamic religion may be preserved in America, but it will be an American brand of Islam, and there won’t be a place for Jihad, beyond a few disaffected misfits, along the lines of the odd Timothy McVeigh and Unabomber — evil people who are found in all cultures and from all religious traditions.
