The liberal media is downright embarrassing themselves, now.  First, the way the Romney’s traveled with their dog on vacation was supposed to torpedo Mitt’s campaign, then it was the horrifying expose on Romney’s bully-boy antics in prep school, then it was Ann Romney’s bizarre and unseemly love of horseback riding, then Romney supposedly had a “supermarket scanner moment” because he was so “amazed” by WaWa’s touchtone ordering thingie.

Now this…They’ve really got the goods on them now…

Feast your eyes on these two insanely extravagant one percenters vacationing as only the richest of the rich can:

Whoever hear of such a thing? Americans – on vacation – on a lake – on a JET SKI!!11!

Seriously, I’m blushing for this Boston Globe columnist, Joan Vennochi – she must have drawn the short straw, or something,  to write something this hack-worthy.

The last thing Mitt Romney needs is a John Kerry moment that conjures up F. Scott Fitzgerald’s description of the very rich: “They are different from you and me.”

But like an early Independence Day gift to Democrats, there it was: the image of a grinning Mitt and wife, Ann, enjoying a perfect summer day on a jet ski on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro, N.H., where the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee owns a lust-inducing lakefront vacation home. The photo of the contented pair skimming joyfully over the water is a natural bridge to the next, less-quoted, line from Fitzgerald’s 1926 short story, “The Rich Boy”: “They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft, where we are hard, cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand.”

It’s a Kerry, moment, that’s what it is.

Romney would say he was born comfortable, and not as rich as he became from investing in struggling companies, and making millions whether they lived or died.(the fiend-ed.) But, during a slow holiday news week, the photo was featured in newspapers and websites, including the Romney-friendly Drudge Report. It was quickly compared with a September 2004 shot of Kerry windsurfing off Nantucket, tacking back and forth in the gusty air. Back then, Republicans swiftly turned the footage of the Democratic presidential nominee, which was also taken by news crews, into a deadly campaign spot that hit on two levels. It showed a candidate in an elite setting, engaged in a sport not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman. It also reminded voters of Kerry’s propensity for shifting with political winds.

Let me make something clear. Lurch wasn’t ridiculed just because he was fulfilling every preconceived notion anyone ever had about him by engaging in a sport “not considered a touchstone for the common man or woman.”  Not to be mean, but – he was ridiculed because he looked like a dork:

Kerry, reminding voters of his “propensity for shifting with political winds” (AKA windsurfing)

I wonder why she threw in that bit about “reminding voters of his propensity for shifting with political winds”….It seems weird and out of place. Did people really think that about the photo?  Or is she trying to make a cute little passive aggressive dig at Romney….hmmm…gosh….I just can’t say…

I think most voters remember that Kerry had a knack for looking dorky in photo ops throughout the entire 2004 campaign. The windsurfing pic was just one of many conservatives hooted at.

The Romney picture on the other hand, looks perfectly lovely. They both look very fit for their ages, and Romney looks mildly embarrassed to be taking a back set to his lovely wife. It’s a charming picture.
