Government watchdog group Judicial Watch published a U.S. Navy map on Wednesday showing the locations of ships in the region surrounding Libya on the night of the deadly Benghazi Attack.
The unclassified map was obtained by Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Randall R. Schmidt via a Freedom of Information of Act (FOIA) request. Schmidt is reportedly investigating the U.S. military’s response to the Benghazi attack and provided a copy of the map to the group.
“The U.S. military had a multitude of forces in the region surrounding Libya when terrorists attacked the Special Mission in Benghazi and murdered four Americans,” Judicial Watch writes.

“Destroyers could have responded to the attack,” Schmidt said.
He also said the military had “rapid reaction forces” and “armed predators” in the region. So far, the Department of Defense has refused to provide him records on the air fleet on Sept. 11, 2012.
“The point is there were enough forces to respond,” Schmidt added.

I can more easily understand why obama couldn’t get help to Benghazi in time. Knowing that marionettes can’t do anything on their own, obama’s puppeteers had to be notified of the situation first. Since there are so many of obama’s puppeteers, and since each one had to be notified, and since each one probably had their own idea how the situation should be handled, and there were so many choices to choose from, who knows how long it took for them to decide what should be done? It would be like going to a buffet restaurant: Which one do you take first? By then, it was too late. It isn’t obama’s fault.
@Smorgasbord: What force do you bring in? Overwhelming force. There was a smorgasbord of choice. The Enterprise, attack helicopters from cruisers, more marines, etc. There was a 10 o’clock call and the big shots were absent.

Consider the event timeline, the amount of time necessary to collect enough information to sufficiently understand the situation on the ground to formulate a rational response to it, and then the distances separating the necessary components from Benghazi.
Destroyers? The map shows the closest destroyer was the Laboon. In Crete. Others shown on the map were so far away that they were totally irrelevant. What do people not grasp about the fundamental realities of time and space?
Making decisions when you have a fund raiser with Hollywood celebrities in Vegas the next day is too much to ask of any fool.

The Enterprise appears to have been over 2,000 miles away. Focusing exclusively on a 3,200 mile radius of influence fails to take into account the time factor.
@Greg: It’s one word. And I believe that map is a propaganda piece. It shows no carrier in the Med. I may be wrong, but I believe the Navy ALWAYS has a minimum of one carrier in the Med. If that carrier was at sea, the response time would be less than an hour. I was on a supercarrier for 3 tours in the Med and I know what they are capable of.
I believe that map is not a representative of the true situation in the Med at that time. It’s a CYA map.
@Greg: The Enterprise was 1650 Air miles away, not all that far with a 1600 mph jet. Just overlay a mileage chart by airmiles from the Persian Gulf to Benghazi.

Let’s look at it from a different angle. obama has had known muslim brotherhood members, and other known Muslim terrorist organization members at the white house. What if obama is a member of the muslim brotherhood, and wants to destroy the USA, and was in on the raid from the beginning? YOU DON’T WANT TO HELP YOUR ENEMIES. I’m not the only one who brought up this possibility. I’m not saying I believe this to be true, but it would not surprise me if it is.
Anyone who has been open-minded about obama has to have figured out that he hates the military. He wanted them to pay for their own medical insurance, he has reduced their retirement pay, but increased it for federal employees, he has made the requirements to follow the ROE almost to the point that one or more of ours has to be hit before they can fire back, just in case there may be even ONE innocent civilian hurt, and he is firing high ranking officers who have been critical of him.
obama has ordered over 3,000,000,000 rounds of ammo. The reason told is that it will be used for target practice and training. The problem with that idea is that ALL of the ammo is hollow point or other destructive rounds. I’m no expert on guns or ammo, but many articles and different gun people I have talked to said that you don’t use expensive hollow points for target practice. You use the cheaper regular time rounds.
One reason given for buying so much ammo at one time is to save money by buying in bulk. That theory is thrown out the window when the way to save the most is to have Homeland Security do ALL OF THE BUYING. Instead, agencies like the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Social Security Administration, and the Department of Education are buying hundreds of thousands or rounds each. Why do they need so much ammo? There are also SWAT teams being developed in many of the federal agencies.
3,000,000,000 rounds is enough ammo to shoot every person in the USA 5-6 times, and to carry on a 20 year war. That is more ammo than the Army has. Why does obama want the different federal agencies to have so much ammo?
Whenever I think about stuff like this, I always think about obama saying he wants a national civilian security force that is just as strong, just as powerful, just as well funded as the military.

He said this BEFORE he was president. He said it while he was campaigning to get the democratic not to run for president for the democratic party. Could this be his national civilian security force he wants? He can’t call up the National Guard. The governors have to do that, but he can call up these forces any time he want. Remember when he said, “That’s the good thing as a President, I can do whatever I want.” What would the propaganda media have said if George Bush had said it?
Why has’t ANY news media reported on obama’s security force? The only time I saw the video played was two or three days ago. I think it was on an advertisement for Hannity. Fox News has never reported on it. Why not?

A jet fighter can’t fly that distance at 1,600 mph. It would either burn out its engines or exhaust it’s fuel. Fighters have top speeds reaching that high or even considerably higher, but only for short duration. Cruising speeds are much lower—generally not much over Mach 1, or 720 mph.
Although it’s unclear from the map label whether the Enterprise or the Vicksburg was closest to Benghazi, the accompanying letter from the Department of the Navy indicates it must have been the Vicksburg, very near to the Straight of Hormuz. That’s over 2,1oo statute miles from Benghazi by air—nearly a 3 hour flight at cruising speed. I measured the distance on a terrestrial globe, which doesn’t distort distances like flat maps.
The letter states that the Enterprise was 3,350 nautical miles away. (Farther even than the Vicksburg. That’s equal to slightly over 3,855 statute miles.)
Really? How would destroyers have responded? As the map shows, the closest was near Crete. The guy is talking through his hat.

Are you saying that the administration knew about when the attack would be over? Do you think that the military actually tries to figure out how long an attack will last before sending help? If they figure that it will be over before help gets there, then forget it.
There were places for personnel to hide. Who knows how long they hid before they were discovered? The only good thing about the attack is that the TERRORISTS lost many more than we did. Two things to consider when deciding whether to send help or not:
(1) Waiting to send help can cost lives during the time the decisions are being made.
(2) If help is IMMEDIATELY sent, then it is found out that they will be too lake, they can ALWAYS BE CALLED BACK.
The ones who could have been sent would feel a lot better knowing they were sent RIGHT AWAY, but it was too late, rather than knowing that they PROBABLY could have saved someone IF THEY HAD BEEN SENT. They could have at least secured the area to keep the TERRORISTS from getting the documents they have now.

It depends on who’s math you use. Using common core math would put them CLOSE, but it would take them longer to figure out all that stuff than it would to take them to get there. At least the mathematicians who used the common core math would probably get a medal for being able to show the MULTIPLE steps they took to get the wrong numbers that was close.
On a serious thought: Think about the ones who would have had to get the help to Benghazi, and they used common core math. The right answer doesn’t matter. Just being able to explain the steps that were taken to send help to the wrong place is more important, or being CLOSE with an artillery shell is OK, as long as the one doing the math can show the steps they took that put the artillery shell on OUR people.
Imagine the common core rocket scientists doing the math for satellite launches, especially the ones that will HOPEFULLY go to multiple planets, moons, or both. What amazes me more than how they get a satellite to many planets and moons, is that they know which part of the planet or moon they will be seeing when the satellite gets there.

is not a carrier, it’s a Cruiser. The carrier Eisenhower was in the Persian Gulf, 1640 miles from Benghazi. The letter was wrong about the 3300 nautical miles. I can read distances on maps, and it was 1640 miles from the Eisenhower in the Gulf to Benghazi. I agree that a destroyer could not have been of help. As I said, the whole map thing with ship locations is all fake, CYA material because it doesn’t show a carrier in the Med.

I have a RAF buddy who retrained in Canada as a psch specialist. Harriers have a radius of 3200 miles, 600 of which can be attack speed. Drop tanks of course. He told me that the USN and marines had them. The advanced models of course. The RAF is slowly decommissioning the older models because of upkeep costs and budget cuts. He flew them and fast air. Gotta love the Canadian legion, where I met him and made him feel at home. Not your typical arrogant Limey, especially the ex officers.

I read one story that the attack could have been a kidnapping attempt of Stevens. We all must keep in mind that there are going to be people who tell their THEORY as fact. I have talked with different people over the years who said they new something was a certain way, and when I kept asking them how they know, the basically say they just know. I want facts before I decide much about Benghazi. The facts I do know are that obama knew about the attack shortly after it happened, and he knew it was NOT because of a video, and he slept while the attack was going on, and he is trying to cover the incident up. Even the most devout democrat knows these facts by now. If they aren’t admitting it, then they only care about protecting their king.
