Polling Suggests The Timing is Perfect For an Independent Candidate

Erick Erickson:

Data Targeting has conducted a pretty thorough national survey on the issue and the data should alarm the two existing parties.

The survey, released Wednesday morning, noted that 58 percent of respondents aren’t happy with the candidates, and that 55 percent favor an independent candidate this year.

“A shocking 91 percent of voters under the age of 29 favor having an independent candidate on the ballot,” it said. It also said 65 percent of respondents “are at least somewhat, pretty or very willing to support a candidate for president who is not Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.”

A hypothetical ballot test says an independent candidate would start with 21 percent of the vote, and even more in certain regions of the country. Trump would get 34 percent, and Clinton would get 31 percent, but the hope for some is that the independent candidate would see growing support.

A candidate needs 15% of the national vote to get on the debate stage this fall. The generic independent candidate would get 21% of the vote out of the gate.

The problem is that half of these independants want a full blown communist, and the other half want an evangelist nutjob.

When polling meets ”vote-with-your-feet,” commitment a different story emerges.

Bill Kristol tried to start the Renegade Party of both #NeverTrump AND #NeverHillary.
Not much interest.

Also:
Mitt Romney announced today he was ending his search for a third party “conservative” to take on Donald Trump and hand the election to Hillary Clinton.
CNN adds:

It’s the latest blow to the “Never Trump” movement — a group of conservatives led by Romney, blogger Erick Erickson and The Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol — to find an alternative to Trump.

When are those three guys going to realize they are leading only themselves in their parade?

Polling suggested Trump couldn’t win, too. Polling can be faulty and a third party candidate would be a God-send for Hillary.

No, thanks.

Some Cruz supporters want to jump ship because they see sharks in the water. Flawed logic. Third party runs wont get either Cruz or a GOPe candidate in. I do support a socialist party third candidate because that will take votes away from the Hildabeast.
