Poll: 71% of Obama voters, 55% Democrats ‘regret’ voting for his re-election

Over seven in 10 Obama voters, and 55 percent of Democrats, regret voting for President Obama’s reelection in 2012, according to a new Economist/YouGov.com poll.

Conducted to test the media hype about a comeback by 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, the new poll found voters still uninspired by Romney, but also deeply dissatisfied with Obama who has so far failed to capitalize on his victory over 15 months ago.

The poll asked those who voted for Obama’s reelection a simple question: “Do you regret voting for Barack Obama?”

— Overall, 71 percent said yes, 26 percent no.

— 80 percent of whites said yes, 61 percent of blacks said no and 100 percent of Hispanics said yes.

— 84 percent of women said yes, and just 61 percent of men agreed.

— 55 percent of Democrats said yes, as did 71 percent of independents.

How did GWBush put it?
“Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, won’t get fooled again.”
Bush’s conflation of two old sayings makes more sense than these rueful voters’ actions.

Gee, are Americans FINALLY waking up???

Do they finally see the CANCER that is spread daily by liberals and progressives –> the left wing extremists?

And Please NOTE: Progressives have absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH “PROGRESS” (another left wing/Obama- peolsi-reid LIE)

I mean seriously, exactly what does it take?

The trolls will be along shortly to trash this story once they get their talking points.

When I follow the link to the Washington Examiner article claiming 71% of Obama voters, 55% Democrats ‘regret’ voting for his re-election, I find they cite only a new Economist/YouGov.com poll as evidence. When I follow their link to the Economist/YouGov.com article concerning that poll, I discover that it’s titled Mitt Romney’s Phantom Comeback. Nowhere there do I find any evidence supporting the Examiner’s claim that “over seven in 10 Obama voters, and 55 percent of Democrats, regret voting for President Obama’s reelection in 2012.” What I found was this:

“In YouGov research conducted from February 6th-7th, we went about it in a slightly different way, asking people who voted for Mitt Romney or Barack Obama whether they would do it again. We found an ostensibly similar picture: 90% of people who voted for Romney would do it again, compared to only 79% of Obama voters who would.”

Unless I’ve lost the ability do do simple subtraction, that means the YouGov results indicate that only 21% of Obama voters have had second thoughts—not the 71 percent, or “over seven in 10,” that the Examiner claims.

Am I missing something here, or is this more evidence that the Washington Examiner is nothing more than a propaganda outlet that’s not above deliberate distortion and misrepresentation?

I am definitely no fan of Obama, but I read an analysis of this poll at Ace, and if what is posted there is accurate, they only polled 35 or so people. This is hardly a large enough sample size to warrant any sort of satisfaction that people have turned against Obama’s policies. Worse, if what Ace writes in his analysis is true, citing this “poll” weakens the credibility of the position that Obama’s popularity is dropping. There are plenty of legitimate polls with large sample sizes that support the concept of Obama’s declining popularity.
I would urge folks to use reliable, accurate data to discuss one’s political positions. Again, if Ace’s analysis is accurate, relying on this poll is analogous to the left relying on obamacare enrollment numbers without reporting how many have actually paid for their policies….or the BLS reporting unemployment numbers without including the effect of those who have dropped out of the workforce after being unemployed for 6 months.

@Pete: analysis of this poll at Ace, and if what is posted there is accurate, they only polled 35 or so people.

This is true, but it was a sub-poll of only those who answered question 3 of the 11 in the negative.
That was this question: If the election was held again, would you still vote for Barack Obama?

On page four of the eleven it has the question:
Do you regret voting for Barack Obama?
Only those 35 were (logically) asked that question out of the total of 999 polled.
The same question was asked of those who voted Romney in 2012 but wouldn’t today.
Only 10 people were included in that answer!

You guys are nuts. Bottom line Only 10% of those who voted for Obama said they wouldn’t vote for him again.
I’m surprised it isn’t higher. Actually it makes sense since his approval rating is down about 10% since the 2012 election.

Liberals and Progressives are STILL a CANCER on America…and I don’t need a poll to tell me that…
… judging from the comments I read on other sites when the story is about Ofraud…be the commenter Democrat or Independent they all tell a dismal story regarding ‘The wons” approval rating….

That election was very close. Just imagine what would have been had the media done their job on Benghazi. Imagine how it would have turned out had the administration not lied about unemployment statistics. Imagine who would now be President if the details of the IRS scandal had been revealed before the election. Imagine the impact not delaying the (now) devastating impact of Obamacare until after the election.

Perhaps some of the people polled feel buyer’s remorse over not knowing the full details of each of those ‘what ifs’. However, I would argue that the real-time impact of the knowledge before the lever is pulled would have been a massive turn-around.

Obama and his supporters are liars and we now know it, irrefutably. If only the media was not so liberal, so corrupt, so easily fooled and led and so in the tank for the Democrat party, perhaps the economy would be recovering and millions would now have full-time jobs.

What I find is many Obie supporters who were enthusiastic are now quiet and not wanting to engage in political banter. They are exhausted in trying to defend him anymore. Only the truly blind committed sycophants are left grasping at whatever straws the admin gives them to cling to. The press can’t change now, they’ve bought this ride to the bitter end. Next up the want to hitch themselves to HRC, another unqualified personality. More style over substance. It would just be Obie’s third term if we elected her.

Looking back its easy to see just how unqualified this man was for the office. The proof is all around us.

The fact that people are walking away shaking their heads doesn’t necessarily mean that someone has won an argument.

WHY DID THOSE VOTERS DID NOT THINK FIRST WHEN IT’S TOO LATE,
WE HERE WORK HARD TO WARN THEM, THEY JUST NEEDED TO ASK US,
WE DON’T CHARGE ANYTHING FOR ADVICE ON WHAT’S BEST FOR AMERICA,
WE HAVE THE HEADS HERE WHO CAN PERCIEVED THE WRONG DONE BEFORE IT HAPPEN,
THAT IS A NATURAL GIFT GIVEN TO CONSERVATIVES AT BIRTH,
AND THAT’S WHY THEY ARE DRAWN TO EACH OTHER TO JOIN THIS PARTY,
BECAUSE THE DEMOCRATS DON’T HAVE IT, THAT’S WHY THEY FAIL ALL THE TIME,
