Obama Named Most Expensive Ex-President Ever

Truth Revolt:

Taxpayers will hand over $1,153,000 next year to Barack Obama to help cover his post-presidency expenses, according to the numbers from the Congressional Research Service. That will make him the most expensive ex-president to date.

The Washington Times explains what’s going on:

Every former president gets an office, expenses and, in some cases, an annual pension payment, thanks to a 1950s-era law enacted after former President Truman struggled for income when he left the White House in 1953.

While most ex-presidents since Truman have found ways to make their life beyond the Oval Office financially rewarding, the taxpayer-funded perks have remained — and Mr. Obama is the latest to take them.

The book deals alone should be more than enough to cover everything their hearts desire, but free money is free money.

Obama’s budget request for 2018 is over $100,000 higher than his predecessor, George W. Bush, The Times notes. It’s almost $200,000 more than what former President Clinton will get. President George H.W. Bush will get $942,000 and Jimmy Carter still gets a good piece of the pie at $456,000.

The Times report adds:

By far the biggest cost for ex-presidents is renting office space. Mr. Obama’s office — 8,198 square feet in D.C. — will cost taxpayers $536,000 next year, the most of any ex-president. Mr. Clinton’s New York office is bigger, at 8,300 square feet, but slightly cheaper at $518,000. The younger Mr. Bush’s office in Dallas is $497,000, while his father’s space in Houston is $286,000. Mr. Carter’s Atlanta office is just $115,000.

Obama also tops the pension payment category with $236,000. Clinton claims second place, getting $231,000 — because Lord knows, the Clintons need more money. Remember how they left the White House flat broke??

Oh yes all those lost golf balls and clubs running about in a golf cart and having all those golf coarses closed off to all the rest of the golfers as well as deverting money from the veterans and DVA to give to illegal aliens(Future Demacratic Voters)and for same sex marrage will cost a Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty quite a pretty penny

truly a useless piece of shit

And yet, those retirees that rely on Medicare and Social Security are means tested for any benefit they try to claim.

Please. The Secret Service budget has been broken by the security demands of the Trump family entourage. $3.6 million spent thus far—on trips to Mar-A-Lago alone. $60,000 for Secret Service golf cart fees. Hundreds of thousands for hotel rooms and security, when any member of the family travels—be it on official business or not. And those are only drops in the bucket. Congress allocated $120 million for the Trump family’s security costs. For a year. And some of the money is paid to Trump’s own hotels and golf clubs.

Obama’s post-presidency costs of a bit over $1 million per year pale in comparison.

@Greg: But Trump is a working President accomplishing positive results. Obama just left disaster on his wake.

One of the reason for greater expenses no doubt is all the lunatic sore loser leftists threaten g to kill Trump solely because he defeated the criminal candidate offered by the left.

Like forcing the military wedding to move so Obama could play a few holes of golf or getting the marine to hold his umbrella least Obama gets wet and melts like he was made of sugar and salt

8 years 10 trillion in new debt. Yes your children have no idea just how expensive he was, but they will one day.

@Deplorable Me, #5:

But Trump is a working President accomplishing positive results. Obama just left disaster on his wake.

Get back to me on that when Obamacare is repealed and replaced with insurance for everybody that’s cheaper and better, and The Great Southern Wall is built and Mexico pays for it. Every positive development Trump is claiming credit for is nothing more than the continuation of a trend already well established by the end of Obama’s second term.

Trump’s chief accomplishments thus far consist of unprecedented levels of national division, loss of faith in our election system, and growing feelings of uncertainty and insecurity internationally. Not to mention throwing the GOP into a state of internal civil war.

Didn’t he pledge to take no salary, take no vacations, and to stay off the golf courses? He’s a rather difficult lily to gild, so I give you credit for your unceasing efforts.

George W. Bush’s post-presidency costs to the taxpayer were $1.098 million for fiscal year 2015. Obama’s costs are not at all out of the ordinary.

@Greg: Why, thank you Greggy for your insightful discourse. We’ll all save it in our circular files.

ps: Maybe you should cover apples to apples in comparing obozo…’s EXCESSIVE VISITS TO HAWAII, Europe, Middle East to kiss Saudia booty, and the list goes on. Will be interesting when we learn of the many overseas accounts link-able to his wonderfulness.

Maybe it would be more helpful if Trump voters put verified, factual information into their heads instead of directly into the wastepaper basket. But then they would never have been Trump voters, would they?

Just in: TRUMP’S CLAIM THAT OBAMA WIRETAPPED HIS CAMPAIGN IS FALSE: U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

Trump’s absurd claim was false. What a shock. I’ll bet Obama wasn’t born in Kenya, either.

Trump is a chronic liar. For that, there’s an enormous quantity of evidence. But his followers don’t really care. They want to be told what they want to believe—no matter if it takes them straight over the line into nut-case conspiracy theory territory. They seem to feel totally at home there.

@Greg:

Even now, the heights of hypocrisy you liberals can achieve amazes me; you always surpass your last efforts.

Divisiveness? Really? And what the hell would be the source of this divisiveness? Why, it’s YOU! The left. You are so upset you put forth the WORST candidate in history and she got beat; fair and square, despite the left’s best efforts to cheat. There is divisiveness for one reason and one reason only: the left WANTS the chaos.

Likewise, you provide me with the source of this doubt. Why, look…. it’s the same as the divisiveness!! Liberals, because they WANT it. All the “Russian collusion” is a liberal lie DESIGNED to cast doubt on our electoral system.

Trump was left with numerous critical situations, thanks to Obama’s incompetence. ISIS, Islamic terrorism, domestic terrorism, Iran’s nuclear threat: all made worse and handed off by Obama. We are safer now due to having someone that will not, literally, bow to terrorism and aggression.

No, OBAMA promised to take no vacations. How’d THAT turn out? Any taxpayer money spent on Obama is good money after bad; was was worse than worthless, causing grave harm to the country. Every nickel is wasted.

It has already been shown that Obama was collecting information on the members of Trump’s team, as well as how the DOJ needs to be purged of liberal operatives. Newsweek has no credibility and the list they provide that did NOT listen in is hardly comprehensive.

It has already been shown that Obama was collecting information on the members of Trump’s team…

Yeah. Robert Mueller’s investigative team is doing so, too.

Maybe the GOP should have done so before nominating him. When it’s done when it’s supposed to be done, it’s generally referred to as vetting.

@Greg: Except Obama’s team was violating the law, listening in on private citizens with no ties to terrorism. Susan Rice, Obama’s favorite liar, was carrying out Obama’s political spying.

No, they weren’t “tapping, per se; we KNEW that. But, they WERE illegally collecting phone conversations.

Except Obama’s team was violating the law, listening in on private citizens with no ties to terrorism.

If they were overheard because they were one party in a conversation with a foreign national who was a legitimate person of interest and who was legally and appropriately under electronic surveillance, no violation of the law exists.

A number of central Trump organization people had questionable contacts with people having connections with an unfriendly foreign power. You shouldn’t expect law enforcement or intelligence services to automatically turn a deaf ear to such contacts whenever they happen. If they did, they wouldn’t be doing their job.

I don’t believe what they do is politically motivated. For the most part, I think they’re dedicate public servants, who take their oaths of office very seriously. I’m certainly not going to change that view just because Donald Trump says I should. Possible wrongdoing on the part of his people and organization is the subject of the investigation. In this matter, Donald Trump is most definitely NOT an unbiased judge of the actions of the Obama Administration, our nation’s intelligence services, or our nation’s law enforcement organizations. It’s absurd to think he would be.

@Greg:

If they were overheard because they were one party in a conversation with a foreign national who was a legitimate person of interest and who was legally and appropriately under electronic surveillance, no violation of the law exists.

Well, that’s where the illegality arises. Sure, if they were in communication a party of interest, but unless some sort of nefarious activity was discovered, their identities would never have been determined, much less collected and revealed. We KNOW no legitimate reason for surveillance was discovered because, despite all the liberal accusations, assumptions, hopes and dreams, NO charges have stuck. Nothing.

So, it was illegal political spying, just as the IRS targeting and harassment was political and illegal.

No depth was too low for the Obama administration to stoop. We’ve seen that.

We KNOW no legitimate reason for surveillance was discovered because, despite all the liberal accusations, assumptions, hopes and dreams, NO charges have stuck. Nothing.

When Special Counsel Mueller has completed his investigation and announces the results, then we will know. Charges, if any, come after such an investigation.

@Greg: If there WAS a shred (smidgen?) of anything close to substantive, you on the left wouldn’t have to be FABRICATING so many phony stories. Come on, Greg, accept reality.
