President Obama held a private meeting with top national security journalists on Thursday afternoon following his national security policy address at the National Defense University in Washington, POLITICO has learned.
Present at the meeting were Thomas Friedman, the New York Times columnist; Gerald Seib, the Wall Street Journal’s Washington bureau chief; Fred Hiatt, the editorial page editor of the Washington Post; David Igantius, the Washington Post columnist; Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic correspondent and Bloomberg View columnist; and Joe Klein, the Time Magazine columnist.
This reminds me of old war movies where the pilots are being briefed on what to do and what to look our for to keep from being shot down. The only difference I see is that the pilots were the good guys fighting FOR us.

ilovebeeswarzone: Earlier this year the “Director of CBS ‘News'” wrote a column urging the POTUS to “pulverize” the GOP. Yes…the head of CBS urged that in public print. What we have going on here is a war. Make no mistake, this administration wants to criminalize conservative thought where it can, and make it politically incorrect where it can’t.
This is the application of college speech codes to the American public. The threat is real and it is here.
Obama and Holder have been caught in the act and they need the help of their press buddies to get them past this crisis. Obama is telling them that coverage must be presented in a “nothing to see here” mode. Thank God for Fox News. Without it the coup would by now be complete. It will be interesting to see if The One can talk Big Media into looking away from his coup attempt.
