North Korea agrees to ‘complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula’ after Trump-Kim summit

Loading

Fox News:

President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a document on Tuesday stating that Pyongyang would to work toward “complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula”— a historic concession, which was one of the requirements the U.S. sought at the summit in Singapore.

The historic agreement came after the two leaders held several meetings throughout the day. Trump was asked by a reporter if Kim agreed to denuclearize and he said, “We are starting that process very quickly.”

Trump did not refer to the document as a treaty or agreement. He said there will be a press conference in the next few hours.

“You’ll be seeing everything in a little while,” Trump said, speaking to reporters on Singapore’s Sentosa island. “I think both sides will be impressed with the result.”

The joint declaration states that the U.S. has committed to providing “security guarantees” to Pyongyang.

It’s unclear exactly what Trump has promised Kim in terms of security. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declined to say Monday whether guarantees might include withdrawing U.S. troops from the Korean Peninsula.

Nice start anyone who expected any more than this was delutional, this is a big step.

Time will tell, but it’s better than the Trump starting WWIII predictions.
Bill Maher hardest hit.

If you think the constant harangue of criticism of Trump has slowed, you would be wrong. CNN is bemoaning how Trump could talk to an “ally” like he did (an “ally” that will not even discuss making tariffs more equitable) while praising Un. Apparently, and as proven by their acceptance of Obama’s deal with Iran, the left has no idea how negotiations work. CNN said those who criticized Obama for meeting with such leaders without pre-conditions don’t criticized Trump for doing the same thing. Well, it’s NOT the same thing; a pre-condition was a commitment to denuclearization, which was gained. Also, unlike Obama’s deal, no sanctions have been listed prior to compliance.

But, no celebration or spiking the ball until we see what the inspections and removal of nukes consists of. Yet, ALL the left wing predictions and criticisms are already unfounded.

Gotta love Pres Trump’s promise for no more war games between South Korea and the USA.
Turns out none were planned for AT LEAST a year!

“At the end of the third inning we declared victory and said the game’s over. It ain’t over. It isn’t going to be over in future wars. If we’re talking about the future, we need to talk about not how you win the peace as a separate part of the war, but you’ve got to look at this thing from start to finish.”

Hope President Trump is correct. Making America Great Again
They will never award him the Nobel Prize in Peace

@MOS#8541: The Nobel needs to be reformed, who wants a prize anyone can win with no accomplishments and ends up making things much worse, you know who I am referring to.

@Nanny G: Kind of like him offering to guarantee N. Korean security; WE weren’t going to attack unless provoked and no one else was, either; who WANTS the place?

@MOS#8541:

They will never award him the Nobel Prize in Peace

Like final peace in N. Korea, that IS difficult to imagine happening, knowing the personality of the players, but stranger things have happened.

@kitt:

@MOS#8541: The Nobel needs to be reformed, who wants a prize anyone can win with no accomplishments and ends up making things much worse, you know who I am referring to.

Maybe they can create a “DeLux Nobel” for people who actually DO something to earn it?

I can’t help but notice our leftist friends are following the rule of “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” I guess it would just hurt too much to admit they’ve been wrong about Trump’s strategy or capabilities. Let’s see… the brilliant guy cuts a deal with terrorists where he give up all our leverage in return for the honor of accepting their terms and delivering pallets of cash while the “dumb insane guy” gets commitments to his demands without giving up anything up front.

@Deplorable Me: Seems the defensive exercises with SK are going to be the concession, it would be superior air power if he needs a lesson anyway.

@kitt:

sadly agree. at one time it meant a lot now it belongs to one of the biggest traitors in American History

@M0S #8541: If he wins it he should buy small tractors and fuel for NK farmers with the prize money just to rub it in. Then bring the medal to a recycle center.

There was NO concession made by North Korea—only empty promises for which WE made real concessions and betrayed our allies. Only a fool doesn’t understand this.

@James D: Please be a little more specific. It is easy to throw out statements. Give us some meat! NK bought the farm when Trump provided the image of resort hotels on the NK beaches with golf courses. I believe that everyone who did not respect Trumps international capabilities are going to eat a lot of crow. This is a good time for that. Crows are over populated and are contributing to climate change.

@James D: What did we concede? Joint exercises that aren’t scheduled until next spring? Un has pledged to denuclearize and I’ll just bet the inspection regimen is being ironed out now… and it WON’T be N. Korea inspecting themselves.

You liberals who prayed to your false idols for failure should be slinking back into quiet obscurity.

Remember what De Mento just said to Trump? That’s what Trump is telling all YOU now.

The statement is specific We cancelled our annual military exercises. We didn’t first discuss it with our allies. We gave Kim credibility by meeting with him as an equal. We got nothing but empty words in return.

@James D: We haven’t cancelled anything. No exercises are scheduled until next spring. By then, either N. Korea is denuclearized or we won’t be “practicing”.

This ain’t some community organizer Un is dealing with.

@James D: 3 hostages are home without an exchange of a pallet of cash. Whether you like it or not Un is the leader of NK and he has nukes, thanks to Clinton. At this point he is not testing nukes or rockets, let the hate wash out of your ignorant, blind soul. This was fully arranged including the pre agreement before Trump set the date, there are many things that are going on behind the scenes you cant comprehend.

@James D: Oh, I see…

We got nothing but empty words in return.

You got current events confused with the Iran Deal made by demagogue Obama…

Well, Trump took care of that issue as well. You can go back to work now.

There’s a list of important concessions we got with the Iran deal. They weren’t vague promises. They were real and compliance was independently verified.

There’s no cure for the problem you people have.

Trump calls De Niro low I Q then follows with “to many blows to the head.” lol

DT trusts Un. C’MON

@Richard Wheeler:

DT trusts Un. C’MON

Seems you are the only one with that impression.

De Niro raging BULLsh!t along with the clapping self congratulating Hollywood perverts.

@James D:

There’s a list of important concessions we got with the Iran deal.

Yeah, we got rid of all those dusty pallets of cash we had sitting around. Also, we didn’t have to go through the arduous process of hiring nuclear inspectors… the Iranians would do that themselves. And, since Hillary traded off 20% of our uranium for a big cash payday, whenever we needed any we could always get some from Iran, because, apparently, they just kept on processing it.

And Iran was always happy to run some training drills with our Navy in international waters, weren’t they?

GREAT deal.

@Kitt: De Mento cusses the President and Hollywood cheers. This is the left. They prefer recession to prosperity and war to peace. They HATE America, as do those who support them. Trump has certainly flushed out the true feelings of the left; now we need to flush them AWAY with the rest of the turds.

@Deplorable Me:

And Iran was always happy to run some training drills with our Navy in international waters, weren’t they?

You mean when the Iranis “captured” 2 navy gunboats armed with 50 cals with an 18 foot Alumicraft armed with a daisy rider, humiliating 10 of our service people?

Tensions between Iran and the US remain despite the breakthrough nuclear deal.

In December2015, Iran’s navy conducted rocket tests near US warships and other commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Yup Barrys BFFs

@Kitt: Are you saying DT doesn’t trust Un? Says he does Why would DT give up anything?
My belief is they’ll lie back and forth for the next 12 months while Rocket Man gains big points for his worldwide photo ops with leaders–this manchild killer should never set foot in The White House.

@Kitt:

You mean when the Iranis “captured” 2 navy gunboats armed with 50 cals with an 18 foot Alumicraft armed with a daisy rider, humiliating 10 of our service people?

Yes. Luckily we had Kerry on hand to apologize for us and thank Iran.

Obama and Kerry should have bought billboards in every country on the planet saying, “We are gutless cowards. PLEASE take advantage of our country while the opportunity lasts.”

Say… have you noticed the Iranian “navy” hasn’t tried such antics lately?

@rich wheeler: @rich wheeler: Lets say there will be a better deal than with Iran, if no deal NK will be squeezed by sanctions. I still hope a real peace treaty with SK.
There is nothing DT could possibly do to please you or many others, if he cured cancer you would complain about the healthcare industry losing jobs and money.

@Kitt: Did you ever hear any conservative wish Iran would force the US into a bad deal? Have you ever heard any conservative wish for a failing economy to make a liberal look bad? These are people who would cut off their noses to spite their faces and would happily see the United States damaged, hurt, wrecked if it got a failed liberal in power.

It appears the left has all the confidence in the world that Trump is going to succeed with his policies for, if they didn’t, they would wait for the conclusions and criticize the results. They can’t afford to do that because they fear the results will be resounding success. Just look at the coverage on CNN and MSNBC; it is impossible for human adults to be more dishonest, whiny and petty.

Without deviation, enemies of the United States root for its failure. No exceptions.

@Kitt: Did you happen to see the “Dumb and Dumber” interview on Fox?
How long since Hannity said NEVER TRUST Un?
Believe the NK participation in Olympics biggest reason for current detente.

@rich wheeler: No, are you ok…um.. mentally I know I have told you I dont watch cable propaganda opinion shows that label themselves as news, geeze if I label myself as a pink squirrel would you believe that too, if I was on your TV?

The White House Presents: The Future Remains to be Written. It’s not know if popcorn was served at Kim Jong-un’s private screening, or if Dennis Rodman was invited. This is the English language version.

@Greg: At least we didn’t dump pallets of cash on them and ask them to inspect themselves. Just stand aside and see how a real negotiation and deal works.

@Greg:

or if Dennis Rodman was invited.

funny you should mention him he said Obama blew him off for 5 years Un has wanted to talk. I guess the ending threats to our allies in the region couldnt compete with funding terrorism.

Saluting a North Korean General, I will concede, is a common courtesy, much the same as Obama tipping his head to the Queen of England, or bowing formally to the Emperor of Japan. General Pak Yong-sik was no doubt trying to be on his best behavior. His predecessor to the post of Minister of the People’s Armed Forces, General Hyon Yong-chol, was executed for insubordination with with a four-barreled light anti-aircraft gun in 2015. General Pak Yong-sik was himself relieved of his duties on June 8, 2018, shortly before Kim Jong-un’s meeting with Donald Trump. He’s got to be a bit nervous about his future. Exchanging salutes and handshakes with the President of the United States on North Korean television while Kim looked on probably didn’t hurt his chances. It made Kim smile.

@Greg: Trump saluted. Obama groveled and apologized.

Yeah. He even managed to salute without poking himself in the eye with his thumb. He probably practices in front of a mirror.

@Greg: At least he didn’t bend over and sniff his crotch, like Obama did.

I’d rather have this guy back than the humorless nincompoop currently occupying White House. So would a majority of American voters.

@Greg: Sorry Greg the electorate had enough of the global destruction he wrought. The insane deals he agreed to, him and his second wife Val.

That must be why he won two presidential elections by wide margins in both the popular and electoral college counts.

Clinton won the popular election by nearly 3 million votes.

Trump has never had a positive approval rating—even on the day of the election he won. The effects of the trade war he just triggered with China probably won’t help much.

@Greg: Yeah, Obama was a pretty good joke on the American people, but it was by no means a “practical” joke. It was one disastrous joke.

Clinton won the popular election by nearly 3 million votes.

That is in serious doubt. Much corruption has been uncovered. The reality is she probably was about 5 million short. BUT, as we all know, the Electoral College is what decides the election. Someone should have sobered Hillary up and told her.

Trump has never had a positive approval rating

Even with 93% negative media coverage (Obama had 90% positive) Trump’s approvals right now are higher than Obama’s was at the same time in his term.

Trump is at least a 93% negative proposition.

@Greg: That’s the predominant opinion among the crybaby, sore loser, elitist left that wanted the most corrupt, dishonest criminal to be their President, so that opinions is trash. Reality, though, it quite different.

He has earned the opinion I hold of him.

Since returning from his summit with Kim, Trump has referred to Kim as “funny,” “smart,” “very talented,” and someone who “loves his people.”

In his first five years in power, Kim has ordered 340 people to be executed, about 140 were senior officers in the country’s government and military, according to a 2016 report from the Institute for National Security Strategy, a South Korean think tank.

In June 2016, a top education official was executed by firing squad after he exercised a “bad attitude” at the country’s Supreme People’s Assembly. Kim’s defense minister was executed in May 2015 with an anti-aircraft gun at a Pyongyang military school, before an audience.

Trump supporters think he has struck some sort of deal with this character; that Kim will be to willingly give up the nuclear weapons it’s taken decades to acquire. I think they’re hallucinating. I think Kim played Trump like a fish on a line.

Trump also has warm fuzzy feelings about Vladimir Putin, another autocratic strongman who routinely has political opponents and critical journalists assassinated. Putin clearly has ambitions regarding territorial expansion. He has demonstrated this by invasion and annexation. He mounted a sophisticated effort that targeted Clinton and helped Trump to get elected. Why would he have done that, do you think?

Our enemies are viewed as potential friends, and our long-time friends are treated with disdain, like potential enemies. That’s not an opinion. It’s an observation. Those who make it are also viewed as enemies.

Why would any clear-thinking American who cares about the future of his country support this man? I can’t think of any reasonable answer.

@Greg: If you knew anything about history, you would know that Hitler was charismatic, charming and gregarious. He was smart… brilliant, in fact, with sharp instincts. What, does this make me a Hitler worshiper to point out the facts? Remember November 6, 2016? That’s what comes of underestimating and allowing your own prejudice to control your judgement. You leftists continue to characterize Trump as an idiot, moron, mentally ill and it continues to bite you in the ass. Trump assesses people and situations as they are.

Does that mean Un is not a despot? No, but understanding his true characteristics, positive attributes as well as weaknesses is important in effectively dealing with him.

In June 2016, a top education official was executed by firing squad after he exercised a “bad attitude” at the country’s Supreme People’s Assembly.

Keep an eye on our liberal universities when a conservative tries to speak there and try and tell me that the attitude of your side is any different from how Un runs his regime. It’s a communist regime; it requires terror, force and violence to maintain power. The EXACT SAME is true of the left in the United States of America; they cannot compete with conservative ideology so they act EXACTLY the same as the N. Korean regime. Think about THAT.

You and the rest of the left assume failure and defeat, then criticize Trump for it. So far, there have been no defeats, no failures. Not everything has been completed successfully, but NONE have failed. Conversely, you all celebrated total success and victory every time Obama made a move and they ALL resulted in failure and disaster. The economy, Obamacare, pulling troops out of Iraq, the Iran deal, destroying Libya, tearing down immigration enforcement, race relations… all utter failures for the American people.

Trump is doing a pretty damn good job, and considering what was expected of him he is doing a GREAT job.

File under: Thanks for the photo ops, and the numerous opportunities to publicly humiliate your nation:

July 11 — Kim Jong-un Blew Off Mike Pompeo to Visit a Potato Farm

A busy Party Chairman and Dictator for Life does have to prioritize, you know. You can’t be in two places at once.

July 12 — North Koreans Didn’t Show for Talks About U.S. Soldiers’ Remains, Report Says

Showing up would have been a nice gesture, costing them little or nothing. At least they could have called, if they overslept or something. Maybe they’ll send flowers and a note of apology, or a complimentary bag of potatoes.

Then, we have this: a claim that North Korea’s rapid expansion of one of its nuclear facilities is essentially false news. That is, while they may actually be doing it, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t sincere about denuclearizing. They’re just expanding their nuclear program because denuclearization hasn’t started yet. Consider: the more warheads they have to give up, the nicer it will be when they finally do!

The Media’s Brazen Dishonesty About North Korean Nuclear Violations

Apparently reporting actual events confirmed with satellite photos is brazen dishonesty, while running an apologist op ed piece for North Korea is legitimate reporting.

@Greg: Trump is trying diplomacy before taking stronger action. Only sore losers that cannot see past their hate can criticize the effort. If the N. Koreans (who begged for the opportunity to denuclearize and signed a pledge to do so) back out, they will suffer stronger pressure than ever before.

IF the talks completely fall apart no doubt we will see a deluge of criticism of Trump’s harsh reaction against N. Korea. You crybabies simply attack whatever he does and, as such, no one really regards you (the left) as anything but a foolish, overly loud nuisance.

At least Trump didn’t embarrass the entire nation by begging them to allow him to accept their terms AND pay them hundreds of billions of dollars for the privilege. That is the difference between a leader and a community organizer. But what would one expect from someone nourished on a solid diet of purely leftist propaganda and who rejects facts?

At least Trump didn’t embarrass the entire nation by begging them to allow him to accept their terms AND pay them hundreds of billions of dollars for the privilege.

Obama gave Iran some of their own money back, in return for highly significant, independently verified nuclear program concessions—a deal that Trump unilaterally dumped in order to gain absolutely nothing, unless you want to count happy thoughts from the clueless reality TV viewers in his peanut gallery.

Obama never would have been witlessly used like Trump has been used by Kim Jong-un. Obama never viewed the presidency as a reality TV show. His primary concern was never with audience ratings. Obama was the best leader this nation has had in a generation.

Thank you sir, may I have another?

FOX News, 2 hours ago — Kim Jong Un sends Trump a ‘very nice’ letter, teases possible 2nd meeting

A very nice note from Chairman Kim of North Korea. Great progress being made!

11:32 AM – Jul 12, 2018

Seems behave yourself rocketman or we will turn your capitol into a glass parkinglot has a much more effect than the millions and millions of TAX PAYER dollars shoveled at them to behave., only to have that cash used for further development.
We have tried it the LOSER way now just lets see if can have a more productive result the WINNER way.

@Greg: Obama enters negotiations like the clueless, naive idiot he is, seeking nothing but newspaper headlines, which he could probably get from his subservient media without putting world peace at dire risk of handing a radical Islamic extremist nation nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, Trump takes action, sticks his neck out, doesn’t care about the politics (since nothing he does will be well received by the liberal Ministry of Propaganda, seeking to repairs some of the damage done by that idiot Obama’s grandstanding ignorance.

@Deplorable Me, #49:

I take it you arrived at these conclusions by reading Trump’s Twitter posts. No doubt “great progress is being made” by Kim’s nuclear weapon and missile programs. They haven’t deviated from their decades-long course by so much as an inch. Instead, they have attained their goal. All that has changed is their public relations strategy.

I would prefer to dispense with any illusions that North Korea intends to give up its nuclear weapons. We would be better served by learning how to best adapt to and work with that new reality. There is no sane military remedy. We can only hope to somehow reduce the tensions that could lead to total disaster.
