New Socialist “It Girl” Continues To Pay Dividends: AOC: Everybody Should Live in a Place Like My Luxury Apartment Building, or Something.

The great thing about socialism is that it meets everybody’s needs and solves everybody’s problems, as long as it’s never, ever put into practice. As long as you’re just talking, socialism is great. Who doesn’t like a good fairy tale?

And nobody loves talking as much as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez loves talking. If words were deeds, she’d already be the most accomplished politician in the 21st century. Here she is talking about how her recent move into a luxury apartment building in D.C. has taught her that, um… everybody should live in a luxury apartment building? I think that’s what she’s saying? Here, see if you can decipher this stream of syllables:

“So I move into this building, and it’s marketed as a ‘luxury’ building in D.C. Right? I’m keeping it 100% with you all… It’s an efficient building, it’s clean, it has public space, it has a rooftop garden (y’all watching my Instagram), it has all of these things. It has clean air, it has clean water. And I think about this and I’m like, ‘Hm, this is what a luxury building is like, right?’…”

“What we have been taught that is a luxury should not be a luxury… We can live in buildings that are non-for-profit, or tenant-owned. There are so many ways we can slice this and we can structure it in a way where all people have the right to a dignified home.”

Of course there are ways to do that. Just look at Venezuela.

So, AOC moved into a nice place, and then she took a tour of another place to live that was also nice, and it was “affordable” and “non-for-profit” and “carbon-efficient,” and that means socialism is good because… um… 🤷🏻‍♂️

As Brent Scher at the Washington Free Beacon notes about AOC’s new digs:

The newly-constructed complex, built adjacent to a Whole Foods, also features both an indoor lap pool and a rooftop pool, a rooftop dog park and dog wash station, numerous gyms including a Peloton cycling studio and a yoga studio, a demonstration kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven, private massage rooms with hydromassage beds, a golf simulator studio, a basketball court, a racquetball court, and a rooftop tennis court with a “parabolic hitting wall” in case you’re alone with nobody to play with.

Not bad, right?

Now, I don’t begrudge a person enjoying the fruits of her success. AOC won an election nobody expected her to win, she’s famous now, and she lives in a nice place. Great. Good for her. Out of all the criticisms of her, “She’s a socialist in a luxury apartment, hurr hurr” is not among the more compelling. Limousine liberalism is kind of a given at this point.

But using her own improved standard of living as evidence that socialism is good? That’s just bizarre. I don’t live that well, and I didn’t when I lived in D.C., and I don’t expect I ever will. And I certainly don’t think other people should be forced to pay to provide me with a place to live. Why should I expect people I’ve never met to be responsible for solving my problems? Hell, I’m even reluctant to promote my Patreon page. (I guess I just did.)

The old movie, Ninochka, showed what it was like when commies and socialists assigned shelter to the workers.
I think it was 6 people, male & female all sharing a 1 bedroom place with mere sheets between their personal spaces.

Better pic, shows the sleeping area of one tenant.

How commies/socialists leaders live is quite different from how their proles live.

Socialism is good… for the ruling class. Wasn’t Occasional-Kotex not too long ago bemoaning how she couldn’t afford a new place? Doesn’t the Capital have a gym? A pool? Does she even have a dog (well, besides the New Green Deal)?

I hope it has a garbage disposal at least. With instructions.

she is and will always be one sandwich of a picnic basket. her university education is a little over $250,000. is she on loans of who paid for her boston education?? georgy or bernie maybe. was she a bartender during her socialistic college years or did that come after? Curt, so how did she really win the elections??? SHE CHEATED!

@MOS#8541: I wonder how she would vote on forgiving student debt?

she has the attention span of a gnat, talked in monosyllables and has a hard time completing full sentences. student debt, similar payment as harris? do you think she wore knee pads in college?
