They’re not doing this to try to get Cohen, they don’t have enough to show he committed a crime. The purpose of this is to charge him to embarrass Trump on Stormy Daniels. And they seized things beyond the scope as well.

Michael Cohen, the longtime attorney of President Trump, is under federal investigation for possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations, according to a person with knowledge of the case.
FBI agents on Monday raided Cohen’s Manhattan office, home and hotel room as part of the investigation, seizing records about Cohen’s clients and personal finances. Among the records seized were those related to a 2016 payment Cohen made to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who claims to have had a sexual encounter with Trump, according to another person familiar with the investigators’ work.
Investigators took Cohen’s computer, phone and personal financial records as part of the search of his office at Rockefeller Center, the second person said.
The broad seizure collected communications between Cohen and his clients — including some with Trump, according to both people.
The raid was related to an investigation referred by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III to federal prosecutors in New York, said Stephen Ryan, an attorney for Cohen.

This is only anecdotal but I once thought we might need a mortgage/home loan so I talked, in a bank, to a specialist.
He said, you can write a reason for the money on the application BUT you can then use the money for anything you need to use it for.

They claimed the NY U.S. attorney who is handling the case is a Trump appointee when in fact that individual recused himself from the case and the person in charge is one of Pheeta’s (a HRC/Obama flunky) cronies. Now they are backtracking on the reason for this and are saying it has to do with two alleged affairs from 2006. Last week Daniels’ lawyer bragged of a big surprise on Monday. Unless Mueller is leaking stuff to him too about the “collusion investigation”, how else would he have known?
It is now out in the open that there are two standards for lawyer-client privilege: one for the left wing elitists and one for the rest of us. Remember how they raided Cheryl Mills’ office during Hillary’s email investigation? Neither do I.
@Richard Wheeler: I havent heard of telling a bank what your home line of equity is to be used for, its a signature loan with collateral. Dont pay it and you lose your house. Pay off credit cards what ever you want to do with it. Who was defrauded except the attorney when the tramp couldnt keep her mouth shut. I guess someone offered her a little more. What if she decides to chat up about tax-payer dollars paid for her story, but maybe Mueller paid her from his own pocket.

Well, as we have seen Greg assure us, Honest Mueller doesn’t leak. That’s why we haven’t heard anything about even the tiniest shred of evidence about Trump actually colluding with Russians… because he keeps such a tight ship. So, a leak? Out of the question.

BTW, the MSM is now reporting on Mueller expanding his “investigation” into a meeting in Sechellyes. I guess their “sources” were from Mars since Team Mueller doesn’t leak.
There are a few out there who think this is one giant sting by Sessions and Mueller and that their real targets are HRC and the swamp. I disagree and think Mueller was put in there to cover for the coup. This latest episode is to try and get Trump to fire him because there was no collusion (not by Trump anyway) that way they can use it to push for impeachment in order to complete their coup and over turn the election.

I commented on that in another thread. There’s no reason to think what little has leaked has come directly from Mueller’s people.
BTW, Michael Avenatti’s big surprise on Monday referred to his intention to refile a motion to depose Donald Trump and his attorney. He has, in fact, done so. There’s been no ruling yet.
