Marjory Stoneman Douglas Staffer Says Many Students Feel They Are Being Misrepresented By Famous Classmates

America knows Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students through mainly a handful of pro-gun control activist students, but according to a faculty member of the school where the deadly shooting took place, many other students say the most visible activists do not represent them.

“I’ve had some students approach me privately to talk to me about it, but I should note that those student activists none of them were ever in any danger during this whole thing…none of them except for the one girl Samantha Fuentes,” the faculty member said during an interview with NRATV on the condition of anonymity.

The Stoneman Douglas staffer continued, “But I have students in my class that were shot, but you don’t see them. They have the most personal experience of anyone except for that one girl.”

Stoneman Douglas students David Hogg, Emma Gonzales, and Cameron Kasky have been notable media representatives of their school and spoke at the “March for Our Lives” protest in Washington D.C. last Saturday, advocating for gun control policies.

The three student activists have also lashed out at the National Rifle Association, NRA Spokeswoman Dana Loesch, Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott, and any lawmaker who accepted money from the NRA.

Hogg is now leading a boycott against advertisers of conservative radio show host Laura Ingraham after Ingraham poked fun at him on Twitter over colleges where he had applied but had not been accepted.

Students privately revealed to the staffer their thoughts when they see one of their classmates on TV or hear them on radio and many of these unknown students do not support what Gonzalez, Hogg, and Kasky are saying in the public sphere, according to the faculty member.

“There have been a lot of my students that have spoken to me about it privately, and they’ve told me word for word as well as paraphrasing that these kids don’t speak for all students.”

The classmates should send them a note or a petition, perhaps to say stop shutting down every solution but yours.

Perhaps we’ll see a photo of those who feel misrepresented filling up and spilling over from Pennsylvania Avenue for as far as the eye can see—or maybe a crowd of school staffers who prefer to remain anonymous.

A majority of the entire population, and a majority of both republicans and democrats, favor stronger background checking and more effective, common sense firearm regulation. How is it acceptable that our elected officials are failing to act on this?

@Greg: How can you not understand, putting further restrictions on those that will lawfully comply has ZERO effect on those that intend to break the law with a firearm. It wont stop the black market, just like prohibition didnt stop drinking, it did make some very very rich like Joe Kennedy the bootlegger. You cant legislate away evil or crazy.
Why doesnt CNN or MSNBC ask a few dozen of these kids if Hogg represents them?
I dont like un-named sources either.

Some people don’t crave the limelight and phony media types fawning over them. Some want to live their lives and be left alone. Some want security instead of being set up as a juicy target for anti-gun zealots to exploit when (not if) the worst happens. Plus, no one is stepping forward to PAY these kids to be offended, as they have YOUR tykes.

Such as? Such as background checks that social engineering prevents the most important and most dangerous information entered into? Background checks that no one worries if they are not competently completed? Are those the types you like? “Common sense” regulation, such as that which only affects law abiding citizens, bans weapons rarely used in crimes and that ignore what actually LEADS TO these tragedies but only support a leftist agenda goal? Is that what you call “common sense”? Seems to be, because that is all you support.

How is it acceptable that our elected officials are failing to act on this?

More importantly, how is it possible that those who pretend to be the most concerned with public safety CHOOSE to ignore the most critical and responsible factors in the Parkland shooting? Why don’t you demand those who implemented and supported the “restorative justice” policy of Obama punished? Or the FBI personnel responsible for ignoring the specific threats Cruz posed to the students of Stoneman Douglas? You liberals don’t want any action that might actually lead to a solution… that would deprive you of further events to use against the 2nd Amendment.

What we should do is try all your “common sense” in some areas like Chicago, Baltimore, D.C. or LA and see how they improve public safety. Sound like a good “common sense” idea?
