Man Arrested In Attack On Conservative At UC Berkeley, Report Says

California law enforcement officials arrested 28-year-old Zachary Greenberg on a felony warrant Friday afternoon for allegedly assaulting a conservative activist with Turning Point USA on the University of California-Berkeley’s campus last month.

“Greenberg was identified as one of two men who confronted a conservative activist who had set up a table in Sproul Plaza,” CBS San Francisco reports. “Hayden Williams, a volunteer with conservative group Talking Points USA was displaying signs that read, ‘Hate Crimes Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims’ – a reference to the Jussie Smollett case – and another saying ‘This is MAGA Country.'”

In a statement, UC-Berkeley wrote:

Today, an Alameda County Superior Court Judge issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect in the matter involving a February 19 assault on Sproul Plaza. Zachary Greenberg was arrested by the University of California Police Department (UCPD) on the warrant and booked into jail at 1 p.m. UCPD will formally present the case to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of the filing of criminal charges. Once the matter is presented and reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office, additional information will be made available regarding a charging decision.

Greenberg was reportedly arrested in Berkeley “on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm with force likely to produce great bodily injury.” He is being held at Glenn Dyer Jail in Oakland on $30,000 bond with his arraignment set for Monday.

Fox News noted that “a series of delays and cryptic messages from authorities” drew outrage from Charlie Kirk, the founder and executive director of Turning Point USA.

“This is really surprising,” Kirk told Fox News a week after the incident. “From what I understand there’s been no arrest. I don’t understand why there’s no public arrest file on this guy. If he had been wearing a Make America Great Again hat and had punched a liberal in the face there’d be nationwide outrage and a manhunt to find him. The whole thing is crazy.”

“This is astonishing — what extra work needs to be done?” Kirk said in a separate Fox News report. “The assault was clearly captured on video. If the attacker was wearing a MAGA (Make America Great Again) hat this case would be wrapped up by now, daily press conferences would be occurring, and arrests would have already happened.”

Kirk posted the video to his Twitter account where it gained significant traction.

The video has been viewed millions of times on social media and has drawn the attention of nationally prominent conservatives.

Why did it take them so long to get around to doing it the assilant should have been arrested on the spot

This happened in Kalifornia. Berkeley will give him keys to the city and Kalifornia will give him a good sized pension for life.

There’s a life lesson: Just keep sticking a camera directly in an angry person’s face after they warn you to stop, and you may get such a reaction. It doesn’t really matter what their political views might be. The warning signs in this case were plain enough.

Anger management advice from our man in DC

I guess we’ll find out what the penalty for assaulting a Trump supporter in California is. It is probably a lesser penalty than smirking at a repugnant Indian in Washington, DC

@Greg: .

So what you are saying is that it is now acceptable to punch some liberal taffy-ass that decides to scream in your face or knock your cap off your head? Great news… they definitely have it coming.

No doubt, when a whiny, spoiled, sore loser crybaby sees a table with a sign on it, enormous outrage is triggered.

Sandmann was condemned to death for smiling at the lefty who got in his face. Take out teenagers and babies. Some real left wing bad asses on this site.

It should be no different than assaulting anyone else. Perhaps there were mitigating circumstances. It would be interesting to hear how the situation developed from witnesses not directly involved in the incident.

Do you think Hayden Williams went on campus to spread The Good Word about Trump’s New, Improved America, hoping to bring enlightenment to the ignorant masses? Or was it done as a calculated provocation, knowing perfectly well that his ideas would not be welcomed by the majority of people he encountered?

Trump—who enjoys provocation himself—urged Williams to sue Berkeley, and opined that he would soon be “a wealthy young man.” Apparently provocation can pay well.

Are you the guy that plays “Obvious Man” on television? Of course it should. There should also not be cities where immigration laws are encouraged to be violated and criminal illegal immigrants are protected, but there are and many of them are in the sanctuary STATE of California. So, it will be a pleasant surprise if anyone that assaults a conservative gets a just penalty.

If a person does not assault or threaten another person but gets punched in the face, what are the “mitigating circumstances” that justifies physical violence? A HAT?

Does he have a right to free speech or not? Yes or No.

And he SHOULD. EVERYONE assaulted by the left needs to hold all the accountable people responsible. Maybe THEN the left will join the world of civility and respect. Until that happens, as you stated above, the reaction should be full, brutal force and a mudhole stomped in their asses. Just remember, this is how LIBERALS wanted it. Like Hasson, he is a RESPONSE to YOUR behavior. Want more? Maintain your current behavior.
