A major report released Wednesday on the Operation Fast and Furious scandal faulted a range of federal agencies for the failed anti-gunrunning program — and has resulted in the resignation of one Justice Department official.
Jason Weinstein, the deputy assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division, is resigning in the wake of the Justice Department inspector general report on Fast and Furious. The report essentially concludes that he is the most senior department official who was in a position to stop Fast and Furious.
Hmmm. The DOJ uses their own inspector general to compile and detail the report, and to no one’s surprise, it fails to implicate Holder. Conflict of interest anyone? How about a “bipartisan” committee like that for 9/11? Or the financial meltdown? Watergate?
Oh. That’s right. I almost forgot this is an election year. And no amount of blowback from any scandal will be allowed to come close to condemning Obama and his admin.
Maybe an independent report is necessary. If you could get the requisite documents under FOIA in time.
@johngalt: Holder has been in the vicinity of multiple acts of perfidy and transgressions against the laws of the land. His proximity and contempt, for even the slightest attempts at accountability for those actions suggest he has his suits cut from Teflon and fears no legal authority.
My question has always been how do you complete an invesitgation with more than 50% of the evidence either hidden or deemed secret by the same adminstration they are suppose to look into.
