Koskinen: ‘Hard Drive Crashes Continue As We Speak’

Loading

“Hard drive crashes continue as we speak,” Koskinen admitted at a House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee hearing when asked if any computers had recently crashed under his watch.

Koskinen admitted that destroying records would be an act “not consistent with the law,” but maintained that there’s no evidence that the IRS intentionally destroyed records.

“Ms. Lerner’s Blackberry was replaced in February 2012 as part of an ongoing Blackberry update….it was disposed of under standard procedures at that time,” Koskinen said.

Koskinen claimed that information from Lerner’s Blackberry could not be transferred to her new model because “Our Blackberries only display email that is displayed by our employees’ Microsoft Outlook emails, which is maintained on IRS servers.”

Koskinen also said that there’s no outside system to save IRS employees’ emails.

“There is no system outside the IRS, government or otherwise, that the IRS uses to back up or store emails,” Koskinen said.

Koskinen doesn’t seem in the loop with the IRS’s lawyers who admitted in court proceeding with Judicial Watch that the IRS does in fact have Learner’s and all IRS computers backed-up. Or the commissioner is just outright lying to Congress while the IRS lawyers are telling the truth to judges.

“Hard drive crashes continue as we speak,”

What company’s hard drives are crashing? Maybe they should switch to Apple computers. They hardly ever crash, put Windows run ones are known for having problems.

Koskinen also admitted that IRS employees routinely use personal email accounts to conduct agency business but maintained that “they do it inadvertently.”

If the IRA has employees who “inadvertently” use their own email account for IRS business, why are they still employed there? If they “inadvertently” use something they are not supposed to, that means they can’t be trusted with other stuff.

Koskinen claimed that information from Lerner’s Blackberry could not be transferred to her new model because “Our Blackberries only display email that is displayed by our employees’ Microsoft Outlook emails, which is maintained on IRS servers.”

How dumb does the IRS think the ones investigating them are? Nobody buys a new computer, pad, phone, etc., unless the info in the old one can be transferred to the new one. I am computer illiterate, but even I know that.

“There is no system outside the IRS, government or otherwise, that the IRS uses to back up or store emails,” Koskinen said.

Koskinen didn’t mention that the IRS terminated its years-long contract with its email archiving company Sonasoft shortly after Lerner’s computer crashed.

“If you have installed the BlackBerry® Desktop Software on your computer, you can back up and restore most of your BlackBerry smartphone data, including messages, organizer data, fonts, saved searches, and browser bookmarks using the BlackBerry Desktop Software. For more information, see the Help in the BlackBerry Desktop Software,” according to Blackberry.

Koskinen did’t lie when he said they aren’t using a backup company. Would not telling about using one until recently be considered a lie?

The obama administration must be very proud of how his people are doing everything they can to help defend anyone in the administration.

Hard drives are, of course hard ware devices (unlike software operating systems. Operating system “crashes” are still relatively common. Hard drive crashes, on the other hand, are very rare these days. Thus, this rash of hard drive crashes is very questionable.

I’ll also mention that the vast majority of hard drive crash data loses are retrievable with relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to use recovery software (this is very commonly done in countless local, state, and Federal criminal investigations). About the only time hard drive data can’t be recovered is when the drive is physically destroyed (i.e. smashed with a hammer or when put through an industrial shredder, etc). But then again, the hard drives in question are not, and never have been, used as email backup storage devices.

About the only time hard drive data can’t be recovered is when the drive is physically destroyed….

Or when the obama administration doesn’t want the data recovered.

Thanks for reminding us that there is a difference between the hard drive and the software problems, and I had forgotten about the recovery systems that are in use now. Do you think any of them have been contacted yet? If I owned one of them, I would let the news media know that I would do it for free.

BULLSHYT Pure and simple If these azzwipes are this ignorant then they’re far too stupid to be in charge of the IRS. A simple RAID 0 solves the issue. Take every last one of these lying SOB’s and string them up. I’ll bet the truth comes out really fast.

Take every last one of these lying SOB’s and string them up.

A far worse punishment would be to have them audited just like the conservative organizations were. The suffering would be a lot longer, and they probably would be doing some jail time.

Koskinen’s ”job” is to sit in his office and ask no questions while time runs out on Obama’s term at the WH.
He comes to all the hearings so fresh-faced and seemingly open and willing – but he knows nothing, so he can’t move the investigations forward at all.

And these are the same arschlochen that want to take over running our medical care system…

What could possibly go wrong????
