Not just spinning or deciding how to not offend, kick the tires and light the fires.
Is that why Trump ordered U.S. airstrikes in Iraq last Sunday without consulting or advising Iraqi authorities, that killed 25 militia members and wounded 50 more? What’s happening at the embassy compound in Baghdad is the response. The Iraqi government will be forced to either do nothing or take the side of the protesters, which pretty much comes down to the same thing. In so doing, they draw a step closer to aligning with Iran and Iran’s ally, Russia.
This will further Putin’s geopolitical objective of consolidating Russian influence across Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

It isn’t known who was behind the rocket attack. It might have been an ISIS group, intending to provoke the sort of response Trump provided. They’re not gone.

Trump felt there was a need to bomb somebody, so he did. And now the U.S. embassy in Baghdad is under siege. I think we’ve seen this movie before. Whether we have learned anything at all from it is a separate question.
